Sometimes the complaints are just unnecessary it's really annoying. It may not be clear on video games, but on music for example, just leave people be. Like metal fans who seem to be trying to prove something. I've no problem with metal even though I don't listen to it, but jeez what are you even doing commenting on a pop music video page... we know it's not real music to you, just go away. It's like Will from the Newsroom. "I'm on a mission to civilize (your music tastes)". An impossible task. In those situations, I approve of the "If you don't like it, don't buy it / what are you even doing here" comments. It's not like it happens the other way around.

There was! Peter was demoted to having only 1 power at a time (triggered by touch even if he doesn't know it happened). It was hilarious when he lost his super strength only to be replaced by a power that lets him "see sound as colors", which he got from touching a deaf girl. It's shit like that that makes you not want to watch the show. The main plot starring "T-Bag" from Prison Break was kinda cool. I think he was trying to create a place where those with powers could live in peace or something, but he's also kind of crazy (Ropert Knepper portrays the same guy in every role...). They canceled it mid-season.

Well shit... I tried shit like this before, standing PS3, and turned all kinds of ways. I guess I never tried it upwards.

Ah I see! I just restarted Liberation and it mentioned that it was the product. I haven't gone far into the story before so I didn't know about that. In AC4 though they are still about to make a product using your raw footage. So I guess editing hasn't happened yet. (Was Liberation HD ever free for PS Plus members? I thought it was... but I don't seem to have it purchased...)

It's kind of weird that Abstergo entertainment makes products that portray the Templars in a negative light...

Is it illegal somehow to NOT redact the name of the CSR? Or was he probably just avoiding being called out on it (unfairly, if it's not illegal) by the internet. That CSR sounded really distraught he was leaving Comcast. Short of being brainwashed by The Man, I think there's something else going on there, not just him trying to follow company policy.

Continued Gravity Rush after I stopped playing it a year ago, only to realize I was on the final chapter. So yeah, Gravity Rush. Completely forgot the story though.

It was this one: Apparently I;m not allowed to use an image extension on this community... Huh... It's the one above lego batman.

My PC couldn't handle Lara's hair. I turned it on and it slowed to a crawl.

Thor is a girl now. Discuss! Not really updated on Thor, or comics for that matter, but I know they retconned Thor from being Donald Blake to actually being someone named Thor Odinson. And they said Thor will still be Thor, so T.O. would be T.O., and someone else will become Thor, God of Thunder? So there are TWO Thors now, but the other one will not be a god and be Thor in name only? I don't know I don't really much care for Thor, though I liked his movies the best among the MCU (haven't watched Winter Soldier...). On another note, is Wolverine dead yet? I need to know when to celebrate.

Alpha P and Lost O, I've played them both and I agree they're good. Didn't seem to be bothered much by the glitches, played it on PS3 though when I was having Mass Effect withdrawal and I didn't have my Xbox. Lost Odyssey was overlooked? I guess, but I thought it was one of those niche games that was really enjoyed by some people but not necessarily overlooked like the Souls games now. Loved the story there, was kinda annoyed with the slow combat but enjoyed the game nonetheless. I mean, fine, it's turn based, but I didn't like how you have to issue all orders first before it plays out, so you had to anticipate enemy attacks and heals alot. Eh. I also remember boob veins. Man, there were threads about those boob veins.

I had a total of 4 PS3s in my life. I remember them all fondly... I bought 1 near release so I could play Oblivion. I remember walking to the store and paying in cash, then lugging the fat thing around for about 6 blocks because I was too cheap to pay for a cab. It was a European PS3, region 2, i think. I took pictures of it and sent it to friends! But it was Region 2... It didn't play my Region 1 PS2 games. I sold it, and bought a used US PS3. It was still very fat and heavy. But I still loved it! I rode a train with it, and had to take it completely out of the box for inspection. It also went with me to Toronto, when I needed to be there for work. I lugged it around in a backpack, and I had to take it out for airport security. You should have seen the looks I got! They were judging me! But I love my PS3. Too bad it was so fucking heavy. I had to fly back & forth multiple times, so I got a slim and just took the fat thing home. This new slim one was awesome. It's region 1, and I marathoned Lost on it. I platinumed FFXIII and FFXIII-2 on it, along with other games. I had to fly back home for about a month, so I left slimmy here in Toronto, and looked forward to playing with ole' fatty. But it was not to be, someone it died, and I do not understand why... I was sad, so I shelved it, and I looked for a used PS3 since I really wanted to play Assassin's Creed: Revelations! I got a used one for fairly cheap. It was slim too! But this one was of Asian descent. It's confused and gets its X's and O's mixed up, but I don't mind. We had some fun times. Then I had to shelf it again when I went back to work. After my work assignment, I took the slim, american model home and played with it. The asian one was just sitting in a corner no, so I decided to sell it. But I guess I shouldn't have. Slimmy here is probably tired of reading discs, so it just stopped and only plays digital now. I have Ni No Kuni and GoW Ascension and I can't play it anymore. The last game this PS3 will probably play is Lightning Returns. I guess I'll have to borrow my friend's PS3 to play these two other games, and Xillia 2 when it comes out. Time to retire this one... TL;DR Shit, my PS3 can't read discs anymore, it's sad. I have a few more games I'd really like to play... and I was really looking forward to play Xillia 2...

Some friends of mine are still playing Skyrim, since release. One has 536 hours in... the other has 1,110 hours!

So I just heard it today... Heroes is coming back! As Heroes Reborn in 2015. They said it'll have a new cast, but Claire's dad will be returning. I wonder if he'll be the focus of the show? Anyhoo... Season 1 was awesome, but it all went downhill, until Season 4. I thought it started to be good again, with Season 3's ending kinda being a semi-reboot (long standing plots closed). I hope badass future Peter Petrelli makes a cameo (or a cast member as a villain), and not that sissy we got in seasons 2, 3 and 4. I'm gonna go and rewatch Season 1 now...

I guess I don't mind not being told (or being told) how to obtain them. What I really don't like are missables. Whenever I start an RPG, I look up "missables in X" on google, which usually points me to a gamefaqs board detailing missables. When I see that only one or two things are missable, I'm pretty much fine with it. But if they point to a specific missable FAQ, then I resent it. But I will still look it up and see how to get them. Then when I'm playing I'll eventually say "fuck it, i don't need that"... and then later on regret it. FFXII's Zodiac spear is a stupid missable example. No logic at all. I only tend to do that on RPGs. On other games, I look up specific romance plots (if I'm aware there are any) to make sure I get into the correct one or not mess anything up. Action games, like Borderlands, I don't really mind. It'll turn up when it turns up. I love Persona, but I kinda hate that I feel I'm doing it wrong if I don't look it up and try to maximize it. In P4 I was surprised there was even a hospital. How the fuck do I get there??? But overall, I kinda get annoyed on missables. I love it when the game has secret stuff, but nothing is missable. Missable is not a word apparently according to this text editor. Missable missable missable missable...

The judgment calls would pose a problem, and then different publishers would label the game however they want to, with the only common thing being it's a First Person Shooter (or Action Game). Think of it this way: In film, you want to browse the Genre (Horror), and then maybe to further search for what you want, you filter by tags (Zombies!). In games, you browse by Mechanics (FPS), because mechanics matter more than... uh... "genre" as it's an interactive medium. Then filter by tags (Post-Apocalyptic. Sci-Fi, Military). I guess what I'm trying to say is what FLD said. For the Genre, you want the broadest category (not sure if it's the right word) that still makes distinct differences to describe the core of the experience. For games, you want to define the genre by the mechanics alone. Then introduce sub-filters to focus on specific "genres" like Post-Apocalyptic. For films, you focus on the next step down (from mechanics), since mechanics don't exist. Or you could step up to 3D / Non-3D, followed by film genre. Games have different narrative and styles like movies do, but ultimately, games are games. Ultimately, it's the mechanics that really define it. No matter how much I love games and films set in the 1940s-50s, I wouldn't play a strategy game set in the 1950s. And think of the sub-menus we would need to browse if genres were too specific! EDIT: I have a feeling we're arguing semantics here. "Genre" probably means something different than "Genre" for films. With your suggestions, you kinda want to blend the two meanings. At least that's how I see it. "Genre" is basically mechanics for games (type of game). "Genre" for film is genre (type of film). I hope I got that across right... Oh and music genres suck. I'm trying to set genres in iTunes to make use of smart playlists, so I look them up on Wikipedia. It's crazy how two indie rock bands belong to different genres, and each band belongs to multiple genres. Nobody listens to only one of those genres specifically.

It does tell you more about a game if you use that classification however isn't it too narrow? I was thinking Halo, should it be FPS Sci Fi or FPS Military? Or Killzone or maybe Resistance? Aren't those military shooters but are also sci-fi shooters? In movies/TV, when you say it's a horrow show, does it really matter if it's a horror show in a cyberpunk setting, or a contemporary setting, or even one set in ancient egypt? It would create dozens and dozens of sub categories. Like if I make a third person shooter set in ancient feudal Japan using bows and arrows and crossbows, would if be a TPS Historical? But what about 1942 shooters? Aren't those historical too? If the soldier I was controlling in ancient Japan was part of an army, with a clear chain-of-command, isn't it then a military shooter?

I really wanted to like Origins. I started it several times, maybe 4 or 5 times. And I got it both for the PC and PS3 (twice even for PS3). I got furthest on my last try but I just couldn't get into it anymore (I was in the dwarven mines I think). Honestly, if you see the RPGs I posted on that gaming history thread, this would have been right up my alley. And I thought it was until I tried it out. I think I've just had enough of those type of games. -
Hey TC! I should probably tell you before FDS gets mad again that we do have a topic specifically for this! However, it's in a hidden area in the forums! So you probably tried to search but didn't see it, and we understand! This hidden area is cool though, we posts lots of stuff. You should be able to get in there easily. Just send me $10 and you'll have lifetime access! or contact Dean and tell him you'd like to post in the private forums. this method is free!

That's how you see it. And I understand why you think that way. But the way I see it, these are two games. And one is more fun than the other. I can't put it any more simpler than that. I can try and judge DA2 on how it is as a sequal to DA:O. But I didn't really enjoy or couldn't get into DA:O in the first place. There is just no point for me doing this, other than to agree with your arguments. And yes, that would be the conclusion I would arrive too, because DA2 as a sequel should have stayed true to the series. I can appreciate that. But DA2 came out. And it didn't. And it turned out to be more enjoyable (IMO) than DA:O. So that's that. You see it as an abomination. I see it as an enjoyable medieval fantasy game. EDIT: Just to clarify: In the last paragraph, I don't know if you can see it as an enjoyable game, too. I assume no, based on your posts. But I want to point out that I said that because I don't see the game as an abomination, because I never appreciated the "standard" in the first place. -
I kind of feel the opposite... I tend to skip bigger DLCs, because I'm thinking "does the price even justify the content on this DLC/is it even worthwile", as compared to "fuck it, it's only 2 bucks". Mass Effect DLC is an exception. I also have multiple copies of each game. You just can't get enough Mass Effect.

I wrote a kinda lengthy post on why I like DA2 more, but I decided not to post it. It made me realize something though. "Better" is the word causing problems here. Better is objective. Which is kind of the reason I don't get into this kinds of discussions. I don't really care if a game is "better" in almost every way to another. At the end of the day, what I "prefer" would win out. I prefer how DA2 does things, for reasons I'll keep to myself because nobody wants to hear it anyway! If people ask me, which game do I think is better, I would say DA2. Because I like it more, and I want more games to be like DA2 (except for the reused/recycled stuff, that shit has got to go). You say DA:O is better, because you feel more games should be like DA:O. But If I say DA is better, then that would be bad for me, because I don't want games to be more like DA which IMO (IMO!) has this huge obstacle that sucks the fun out of playing it. There was this Facebook post in my wall, a friend of mine was excited about DA:Inquisition. She said she'd like to catch up on the Dragon Age games. So another friend commented and said something like "Play DA:O. Don't bother with DA2, just read up on it. DA:O is pure tactical bliss!". But that advice isn't for anyone. It's only for those who like "pure tactical bliss". It's useless to recommend a game with pure tactical bliss to someone who won't bother appreciating it. If I knew the poster better, I would say, "Hey, you'll probably not like DA:O that much due to the mechanics, so maybe just read up on that. But play DA2, Hawke is kickass and an awesome character to play with.". That's just as good advice as the first one. -

Hawke is a more interesting protagonist, and I like the 2nd game's story better (it's smaller scale, more personal). Combined with the simpler inventory, it made the game more fun to play. Judging games on their technical merit is just not for me. -
