  1. That was exactly what I was afraid of. I guess I'll try to look more into that.
  2. Well, I will have cellphone service on that sim card. It was my old number that I keep from getting deactivated. It does look like it would be possible with a simple app download: http://nexus7.wonderhowto.com/how-to/send-receive-text-messages-right-from-your-nexus-7-3g-tablet-rooted-non-rooted-0145250/ Mostly for texts anyway, as I don't want to answer calls on the thing so this could be perfect!
  3. Ah I see. Thanks for the response. I was thinking of getting an Android device and since the Nexus 7 looks good and has a nice price, I was hoping i could also use it as a phone. I guess I'll try to look into it more, I also just saw instructions on how to use it as an internet phone. Mighty Text sounds like it needs my main phone to be an Android. So right now it's probably not an option. Though I've been wanting something like that for iOS. Glad that it's actually a thing, even if it's Android only. I know iOS has iMessage but that won't send ordinary SMS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
  4. Can you make calls or SMS, like a normal phone, on a 3G/4G Nexus 7? Officially or if it requires some kind of (fairly easy) hack? I imagine this shouldn't be much of an issue with Android. It's already running stock android, I wonder if the "phone" app or equivalent would also be there, just hidden away. It's going to be a secondary phone thing so I don't care much about how awkward it could be making calls or answering texts on that thing.
  5. Yeah the article fails to mention a lot of things. 1. Yes and No. The search result can come from soundcloud. So it streams from there. Other results come from Rdio/Spotify, so if you have an account you could probably stream the entire song. If not, then you just get a 30 second preview i think. 2. Rdio, soundcloud, spotify is all I saw. 3. It's not like Snapchat at all. I think that one is mentioned in the article. It doesn't even delete the song (or the URL/link) once you play it. 4. Probably since those services are free, it would be ok. I know Rdio has an API that lets you stream songs from your app. I imagine that's how the other service integration works too. Edit: I guess to clarify, it doesn't really send songs. You just text a link to your friend and on the rithm website your "message" is there.
  6. Rithm. http://thenextweb.com/apps/2013/07/24/rithm-for-ios-calls-itself-snapchat-for-music-and-it-might-make-song-messaging-a-hit/ I unfortunately don't have a lot friends who are really into music. Or maybe just not the music I like. Or maybe I do I just don't know it yet. But this shit here will make it real easy to share what I've been listening to. It's basically search a song and it'll show you matches which could either be previews or full songs. Don't know how full song works but it may be linking to soundcloud, afaik from the few songs I tested. Anyhoo, it sends a link via SMS to your friends and they just tap it and it opens up and plays the song/preview (previews link to spotify/rdio). Of course you could just go into youtube, search for it, then copy the link and then send it. But this is a lot easier.
  7. AAAAAGH. My keyboard's U J M 6 keys don't work. It's an apple keyboard (i know i know). It's the best one I've used since ever, I really like it, but it's also the only one that died on me. Everything else I replaced (after >1 year) to get a better one. So I really want to get another one but I'm torn. Dammit. Any good keyboard suggestions? Nothing fancy, I just really like this since I can type really fast with it. Plus, hey, I use a mac so the built in shortcuts are great too.

    Steam

When you buy those Windows software, does it require Steam in any way? There's a program on sale that I'd like to buy for my work machine but I don't want Steam installed there.
  9. You guys might now. How do you get full rss feeds from sites that don't offer them, like The Verge, or Polygon, or Kotaku! I tried fulltextrssfeeds and it worked with Joystiq but doesn't have images with the full Polygon feed.

It depends how the feed is created if it has images or not. Might want to look into something similar to Pocket if you're wanting stripped down sites. Evernote does a similar tool too but I can't remember the name.

Oh yeah I use Pocket. But that only gets the articles I save manually. I'd like my feed to give me the full article. I just hate jumping from the reader to the website, especially if it's not mobile friendly.

  10. Never seen a game be cheaper on a flash sale when it's on a daily deal. I intend to buy this game too, and was thinking (earlier) that I have like 35 hours to decide. Lifehacker says if it's one of the dailies, buy it. Only regular discounts where it's not on daily/flash is a no buy. Edit: OOOH sorry. I didn't see the date of your post! It's on daily now. Edit 2: WTH. It's not. I could have sworn it was. Or it was on flash and I missed it.
  11. If you venture into a board where they discuss a game at length, when the game has been out for months, it's your fault for getting spoiled. As he conceded, people have been kind enough to not spoil Infinite early in it's life, and only after a few months did that vanish. I don't think it's clear in the article how he ventured into spoilers. In my experience, that attitude he's talking about is what you get for venturing into a discussion about a game at length about a game that has been out for months. People do apologize for spoiling stuff accidentally on thread titles and posts. People who have finished the game also call out people who spoil stuff, so mods or whoever can act fast. Uh... what??? Games cost 60 bucks a pop. It IS a luxury.
  12. This argument is hard to follow. I completely agree with Dean though. Whatever I need to say, he already said so there. I'm going to throw a wrench here. Jailbreaking an iPad is actually illegal.
  13. Trying out Sony Music Unlimited. Since I'm a PS+ member, i think this would be the cheaper option against GPMAA (no uploaded songs though). However, first day of listening and I've already heard 3 mislabeled songs. Hmmm...

This is awful... so many mislabeled songs... I don't know if it's just the alternative/indie songs on their radio, but I can't get 1 session of without a mislabeled song! Looks like i'm going back to GPMAA after all... I still have 20 days left to decide!

  14. I think after P4G, that ^ would be my next game, or maybe Guacamelee. I wonder which is better and has more replay value? Speaking of P4G, how do you guys play Persona games (3 or 4 - Haven't touched the older ones)? Do you go through it normally once without a (max S.Link) FAQ? It seems to be a huuuuuge waste of time doing it that way, what with all the things you could possibly do and ending up not maximizing anything at all with your Social Links and stats and personas. So I ended up playing FES and 4 with a FAQ the first time. I still enjoyed it tremendously, I'm just curious how you guys did it.

  16. They switched over starting from the Slim. Only fat ones use PC power cords.

    What is an FBD???
  18. So can you play this on any Android phone? I think there aren't "tablet" apps for Android, right? Apps are apps. Or do they limit you to devices? I'm wondering if you could theoretically play this on, say, an HTC First, with it's small screen. I'm asking because the iOS app is for iPad only, but I would really like to play on my phone.
  19. Maybe I can use the vita's email app? Maybe there's a flag message function so it'll always be there. Hmm I'll look into this. It might work!
  20. ^ That's the alternative. My issue with the browser is if I load up any other app in addition to the browser and the game, the browser closes and you need to be connected to the internet. I could use my phone, or tether my vita to the phone so I could actually refresh. But maybe there's an even better way. I wonder if I can put a local text file and open it with the browser? Probably not possible though. So many problems!

  22. Yeah. For one thing I could easily share/borrow games in this forum. However, multiplayer games WILL sell. The CoDs and Battlefields, as you want to play with your friends anyway. Single player games? Well, there's piracy anyway. If you argue that piracy raises awareness and leads to more sales, you can't NOT argue that this won't either. People who pirate who pay for it after, will pay for the game after it's been shared to them. If you don't then, well, you're just cheap! The funny thing is, the common argument about file sharing with music, and sometimes games, is that it's the same thing as sharing a physical CD. But apparently when it comes to digital games, and sharing them legally, it's too good of a thing to be true. If what MS saying is true, then the loss of this feature is a huge deal. It may or may not work, but at least they're trying it out (which is good for every consumer). Of course, if it's not, and the pastebin post is true, then that's just sad. And they deserve to be ridiculed and bashed for outright lying to their fans.
  23. It's not 9 used games for free though. It's just 2 games. Since other people can't play the share at the same time. I would have expected you to lose access once you share the game, and I don't know why they decided that you can always play plus you have a share. But it's just the same as sharing a physical disk. I might have asked MS to remove the original owner's ability to play the game while it's shared. But I don't think it's as bad as you think it is for publishers. They have forced online checks for it after all.
