  1. I'm British, I'm already pretty experienced at making tea. Oh, wait, you meant...
  2. Hey, you never know. Any changes I make may rearrange things into a top 50 again...
  3. So you just trust it without checking other review sources?
  4. Says the guy who waits for GT reviews.
  5. I might rejig my list a little. I feel kinda bad leaving out some games I do really like, just because I've already included one from the series, in favour of getting some classics in there. But I might leave them be and fiddle with the order of some of the others. Boo to this point-adding AV system. We want FPTP!
  6. I remember Joystiq loved Section 8: Prejudice seemingly because of all the stuff you got for the price. Now, maybe I've been spoiled by Halo or it was just the demo, but the gameplay itself just felt very lacking. Eurogamer aren't one to pull their punches and they seem to like it: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-05-10-brink-review
  7. People who say 'sheeple'.
  8. Well, that's what I felt was wrong with the Singer films. They should've done what First Class is doing and start from the beginning. Put some effort into developing the characters along your own lines and look at that odd contrast between fighting prejudice but actually trying to be superheroes too. Don't just try and slot in kids as the ones you should be relating to and 'rooting for'. And, yeah, the change of colour for Havok's power is obviously for a connection to Cyclops.
  9. I've never really enjoyed any of the X-Men films. Well, X-Men 3 was 'fun' in a stupid way. I think it was more to do with picking a tone and sticking with it. Either make it a bit over-the-top and ridiculous like a comic or add a lot of depth to it. And I don't like how they've portrayed Wolverine. Hugh Jackman's an OK guy and does his best, but he just isn't Wolverine. At least not the Wolverine you should be seeing. That he became a major focus of the films over everyone else detracted from what relationships and stories could've been explored. While I'm glad they've sort of distanced this new film away from the others, and I love seeing the Xavier/Magneto stuff, I'm still a little sceptical. I guess that approach is why they've gone with the X-Men they have, but at least it looks like they've got some actual characters rather than 'hey, look it's Storm'. Although, I would have preferred Cyclops in Havok's place. Seems like they could've had the same angle on his story (scared of hurting people with their powers). Depends which you've seen. Originally, it came from his chest in a more dated sci-fi ray gun-like look but more recent comics and such had changed it to shoot out of his hands, I think. It was never red though.
  10. An extended look at the game from a site found via another site that linked that along with my Witcher article Article: http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/previews/60179/The-Witcher-2-Assassins-of-Kings-Preview Looks like it unveils some new weapons... Those are weapons, right?
  11. You should really put those sorts of things in the pet peeves thread. Much easier for Dean to ignore them that way.

  13. Dee and Advent Chaos have sexy voices. That is all.
  14. Like I said, the service never went completely offline, I think it was just a high amount of new users and traffic that were causing connection problems for people. I'm guessing a lot of people got Halo 3 for Christmas? Getting Undertow for free was nice but I don't recall ever feeling really inconvenienced as clearly I'd continued playing online (maybe with the occasional problem?). There's that and the fact that, unlike now, I'd not really been purchasing a great amount of DLC or downloading demos and such.
  15. I can't even remember it that well. Was it during the holiday period of 2007/2008? Because I don't think the service was ever completely down and I can see a played a load of Halo 3 games during that time.
  16. Wonderful album. Shame they only made one.
  17. Yeah, I don't really play online much but I am missing out on some great new Rock Band DLC that I want.
  18. Obviously not. But if you've read the original post or a fair few other posts in here you'd know pre-orders can be included............................................... I think there was a pre-orders thread but that didn't really receive much attention (I may be thinking of the Old Republic). As for the other games, I mentioned them merely for discussion's sake.
  19. Placed some pre-orders: - The Witcher II Premium Edition (probably the same as Dean got. There are only Premium or Collectors Editions available) - LA Noire (for 360, obviously ) And that should give me some reward points to put towards inFamous 2 and Earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon (presuming that has some alright reviews considering its cheaper price).
  20. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-05-09-sony-psn-restoration-targets-end-of-may Yikes.
  21. How To Lose Friends And Alienate People was on TV. I like Simon Pegg, although I don't think I'd seen him in anything made without Edgar Wright, and Kirsten Dunst was very good. Story just felt a bit too cheesy, with some boring humour, and I would have liked to have seen some of the different elements explored a bit more.

I think he raises a fair point in that 99% of games "criticism" is of little to no value to developers themselves. But I maintain that 99% of criticism isn't even aimed at them, but rather OTHER gamers.

I can see what he's saying but I think it's a bit backwards when he talks about empirical evidence. Surely if enough people are writing (uniquely) about the same thing that highlights some sort of trend? Besides, if you always take that approach as a developer you can wind up with something that is more 'designed by committee'.

I think the main thing he needs to define is the news/ opinion pieces from what should be critical/ artistic pieces.

  22. Yeah, they'd most likely be Sony-published stuff. LittleBigPlanet, inFamous, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid?

Well that's a refreshing read. Don't get the relevance of the Pepper's sub-headings though.

Yeah, I don't quite get that either.
