  1. OK, Frasier's dad had a go at Daphne for calling an umbrella a 'bumbershoot'. And rightly so. I don't think I've heard anyone, English or not, refer to one by that name. I had to look it up as well.
  2. 'No, the age ratings are not for difficulty, they're for content' - GAME employee to mother buying games for her children. And we wonder why everyone seems to think kids are playing violent games...

Did he sell them to her? At least he explained what they're for properly.

Her children weren't there and I only overheard so not sure what she bought in the end. And, yeah, Dean, obviously what he said is true but if that's how some parents view age ratings I am worried... =p

I always 'like film ratings' which helps sometimes but some parents get pretty angry when you refuse to sell them the game.

  3. Some more cheap DVDs - Who Framed Roger Rabbit - Swingers - The Constant Gardener - Taken Was looking to buy some new Vans but the only place (with the cute sales advisor) that sells them were out of my size and they're not available on their website either. Guess I'll have to look elsewhere.
  4. I used to love watching all sorts of crime shows, and since he said favourite detective and not 'favourite detective show not crime show' you'd better brace yourselves... Detective Sipowicz from NYPD Blue Talk about a flawed character. He starts off as a bitter, violent, alcoholic, even racist brute and...gets slightly better. He's unlike any other TV detective I'd seen before and all the better for it. An actual complex human being rather than an omniscient Holmes-type (not that those aren't OK too). Denniz Franz is such a great actor that it was easy for him to take over 'lead' after Douchebag Caruso thought he could have a film career. It's a shame I can't find a clip of Sipowicz's 'lie detector' scene, where he interrogates a man who'd beaten his wife to death, yelling 'Beep beep!' everytime the guy lies and subsequently smacking him round the head. Detective Simone from NYPD Blue How can you not like Jimmy Smits? 'Where's the beef?' as he would say. Columbo Lennie Briscoe from Law & Order Got to love his wisecracking. Detective Goren from Law & Order: Criminal Intent It's Vincent D'Onofrio's own sort of Sherlock Holmes. Enough said. Detectives McNulty, Bunk and Freamon from The Wire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQbsnSVM1zM Maybe you have to watch the show to understand, but they're all great characters in their own right. Horatio Caine Because he is a doofus. I've probably missed some, or there are some good shows I've not yet scene but, oh, well...
  5. Not if his penis sees him first.
  6. I know Terra Firma are not Cerberus, but they are very similar.
  7. If anyone in the UK is looking to switch their old 360 for a new 360 S, then GameStation have got a good deal going on. http://savygamer.co.uk/2011/04/17/upgrade-from-an-old-xbox-360-to-a-new-250gb-one-for-54-99-64-99/
  8. As far as I'm aware, Ashley was against Terra Firma. Plus, she may not trust certain aliens, but she will still work with them (even likes the Salarians, if I recall). So, not entirely like Cerberus. She's just got that long military background and really hates Turians for the business with her grandfather (which has held her back). I can still see why it's easy to dislike her. And I'd rather have a bit of contrast in the crew instead of everyone being huggy huggy cookies and milk. Can't say she looks better or worse than Miranda. But she doesn't have Yvonne Strahovski's voice.
  9. Oh, I was watching Frasier and noticed a difference in pronunciation between Americans and Daphne's particular 'version' of English. I tend to say 'privacy' as 'prih-vacy' whereas Frasier says it like 'private' as in 'pry-vacy'. Obviously neither is wrong, just looking for other people's input as I'm not sure it's actually a regional thing.
  10. And I don't think it's going to improve... Although some of the later ones are more N/A or No score. But I won't ruin anything.
  11. Been working on some more but I've been a bit busy. Sorry, guys. 1.15 - Dead Woman Walking
  12. Figure I'd pimp this here too. I done played on it.

  14. Hey, I'd played bass on this track. Hurray! http://soundcloud.com/killerpimp/ceremony-stars-fall-monster

That was pretty cool. I tried to listen for the bass line, but I couldn't find it. Sorry. I'm bad at finding those.

Heh, it comes in at 10 seconds if that helps you spot it (only really gets interesting at around 3:35 when it goes up an octave, and during the last chorus though). But thanks for listening!

  15. Some of the stuff in that RPS preview was a bit disconcerting, but I'm still looking forward to it. Combat sounds a little better and I'd even play it on easy just to get the 'experience' if I had to.
  16. GameInformer: asking those questions that everyone already knows the answer to. Nice how 'The Doctors' completely skirt the topic though.
  17. Not really. High Noon isn't like The Searchers. There are varying types of Western. It appears Dean was expecting a more classical western whereas RDR is more revisionist...with copious amounts of action thrown in.
  18. This pro controller for Rock Band 3 is making me feel pretty rubbish at guitar. I mean, even more so. But it's still fun in an 'I'm quite a retard' way. =/

I bet it's similar to when you first played the plastic guitar.

Except you "actually" suck at an "actual" skill.

Actually, yeah, it's probably like when I first played Guitar Hero 1. Except I sort of know real guitar (I play bass for realsies). It's just difficult to learn while the stuff is whizzing at you. And I probably shouldn't be playing on expert or hard straight away...

  19. The reason I mention Unforgiven is because RDR is aiming to be a revisionist western. Not that it entirely succeeds but that explains a lot of the 'tone' of the game. I'd agree gameplay-wise with regards to the ending, but really I never found any of the gameplay stuff particularly outstanding in the first place. It was a nice cyclical approach though and I felt that worked; shifting from the violence to...slightly less violence.
  20. RDR's ending was one of the few things I thought was good (except for the very end). Predictable, but about as good as the game was going to end anyway. Have you ever seen Unforgiven, Dean?
  21. Great, some sort of bigoted woman gets a soapbox... Oh, wait, I just typed that out in public, didn't I?
  22. 'Cause if you don't take a risk, you'll never know if this is all there is.
