CRAB!! My parents got me two Alaskan King Crab legs from CostCo for Christmas Dinner. I luuuurve crab, yet am strange and hate Turkey - I used to request it for Thanksgiving or Christmas every year and they would occasionally do it. This year they had other stuff, but let me have crab. Oh gosh. So good.

Oh wow. I didn't know anyone else knew who he was. It's been yeeaaaaars since I've listened to Songs Ohia or Magnolia Electric Co. Good, good times. And I thought I couldn't you any more. I'm not too much a fan of Magnolia though, as it's a bit too country for me, but I suppose I haven't really given it enough of a chance. Have you listened to his solo stuff? These two songs are just incredible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQsL8GxdvUw -
Tacoooos. On Christmas, yes.

Ooooooh. I didn't know we had gameplay from this already. Also, I have a Wii, I don't know why I haven't bought Shattered Memories yet. Maybe because I still haven't finished (have hardly touched) SH5.

What Have You Received for [Holiday]?
TheForgetfulBrain replied to TheMightyEthan's topic in Off-Topic
My dad got me a short distance telephoto lens WITH macro. So freaking excited - I was NOT expecting it and it was the last thing I opened, just arbitrarily. Mostly I just got books and small/fun gizmos, because my parents pitched in and got me new shoes and a coat on black friday, both of which I've been needing for a long time, and that was going to be my big Xmas gift. I had been planning on asking for a zoom lens since I don't have one right now, but didn't after I got those things. This isn't technically a zoom lens, but it's still super awesome - my old macro had a 'broken-most-of-the-time' auto focus and was really sticky/difficult to focus manually. Kind of bummed I didn't bring home my camera this trip now. -
aw. I accidentally killed the poor sheep that was hanging out in my house, while I was expanding it. (minecraft)

Honestly, I get nostalgic for everything over a year old. It's strange though how that 'Christmas Excitement' and nostalgia has almost entirely faded for me though. Just not the same as when I was a kid!

Akira will always be missed. Still can't explain how I felt when I saw the opening to SH3 along with this music. -
No, but this will always be one of my favorite quotes. Silent Hill 2 will always hold a very special place in my heart, as will Three. It's hard to explain this while sounding sane, but I was very, very into Silent Hill when deciding what college to go to, and with all the fog in the series, San Francisco was a very eligible fellow. I was maybe a junior in high school when I played SH2 and as I played through the game, I listened to a lot of dredg's second and first album - a lot. So, the symbol song (linked ) and the others between the two albums, will always have a profound connection to me. As shameful as it is to admit, I had a whopper sized crush on Heather. She was strong, gorgeous and absolutely damaged. I couldn't help but fall for her - so much, I never finished the game. I couldn't. It's exciting to hear the newly invigorated SH movie is based on 3, but this was always my pick for Heather, and I can't really see anyone else doing it, as the female protagonist here: Note at fifty seconds and a few other moments - very much Heather. Regardless, an excellent, if somewhat frustrating film. Far superior to the incredible-potential disappointment bit that the actual SH film was.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhbQ5gssqOo Can't remembered if I've posted Molina here or at the old forums, but goddamn. This man is about as much my hero as my favorite authors. -
I found out about the, uh, 'music thread' at the Questionable Content forum about a year ago. I only found out it was a web comic about a month ago.

This I didn't know. Just got the game and haven't tried to get whitelisted yet. That's kind of shitty though... guessing they'll have a mode later though where it isn't wiped every month?

had to wait for twenty minutes while the neighbor tried (unsuccessfully) to pull their tractor out of a ditch, in order to get past them to my house. welcome home.

I bought that today and ACII yesterday. Now just for a sale on ACI!

The Terribly Trivial Tales of X-Talk Edition

What's the tone going to be like? Silly, serious? Dependent on the poster? -
Holy CRAP it is easy to get irrevocably lost in this game. I still haven't figured out how to craft much of anything, and have been killed and lost either my body or base at least four times so far. Time to see if there is a Minecraft map mod out there. 0_o [EDIT] Gosh, I feel dumb. I played this game for hours, stubbornly trying to figure out how to craft anything/tools before I finally gave up and had to check the Minecraft wiki's 'First Night Survival Guide.' GRRR. [EDIT 2] And then mined a crap ton of resources only to tunnel into a wall of lava and lose them all. Ooff.

I always read your name as TheForgetfulBrian. Haa. It's amazing how often I read other people's screen names wrong. It's like, regardless of how short it is, I still can't be bothered to put the letters in correct order after one glance.

I've been 'playing' the Square Enix Final Fantasy: Knights of the Crystal game since launch some months back. And by this, I mean logging in every day or so to click a button repeatedly a ton of times, communicate with scary strangers and annoy my real friends because the game makes you spam crap in order to get an edge. Oh, and you get raped in PVP if you don't have at least a few hundred 'friends' playing the app as well. Literally. Well, not the raping part - but the amount of people you need in the game for PVP. Which means you need a stupid amount of strangers on Facebook. I added twenty and felt dirty for it, even if it was through Fahey's Facebook page. Also - this is scary. Since this is a 'social' game, you can of course pay for crap in the game to advance your progress. From the fine print on the page in the game where you can purchase credits to spend: You can buy credits in various packages - from 25 credits for $5 to the 'best deal' of 560 credits for $100 USD. I suck at math so I might be doing this wrong, so someone correct me if so - but either way, the numbers are horrifying. If you are buying at the maximum package, that means: 100/560 = .18 or so per credit, times max of 100,000 credits per month = a possible maximum of around $18,000 spent on these 'credits' per month. What the fuck. Why even have a limit if you're going to make it something insane like that. If you did occasionally pay for Facebook gaming, and thus had your Credit Card information stored on your Facebook account, and had this game or another Square Enix social game - and your Facebook account got hacked? That has a potential be very, very bad. Anyway, I don't know WHY you would ever spend even a dollar, let alone the minimum of five on this shit, or more. 25 credits ($5) gets you NOTHING in this game - it doesn't even buy you a pack of TEN of the consumables you need for the special 'pay items only' quests - which if you did buy, you would burn through in less than a minute of clicking a button to see your quest results, and wouldn't even finish the whole quest (since you need to repeat each quest more than ten times to finish it at rank one). There are also other ridiculous ways of burning those credits - like recharging your health, something which would happen over a period of a day, and is pointless, since it just opens you up to being attacked by people with 300+ 'friends' who then steal all your in-game money again. Which just cost you about $3 actual dollars. I mean really, the logic behind the pay system of this game is absolutely appalling. And even more revolting, is the fact that it works. I'm sure there are people that spend money on this 'game' - when there really is no game at all. And it is addicting. I can't wait to delete this shit and all the random strangers I added in the beginning to increase my 'guild' size. I don't know why I haven't, really. I finally beat the last boss, but they keep adding new stuff. More buttons to click. Mmm... buttons...

Self explanatory. And I just enjoy how it sounds. The avatar is inexplicably and irrevocably linked in my mind, as well.

You'd think so, but I think I saved over my old games before I found out she was gone for good, or something like that. -
The Steam Group uses Skype for game communication etc fairly frequently, I hear. I haven't used it except for 1 to 1 webcam chat though, and it's been a while. Supposedly they have a video conference feature or something now.

This semi-happened to me on Suikoden IV (excellent game, ruined by horrifying voice acting). One of the main characters had this special artifact equipped that let you avoid the way-too-constant random battles, which I was totally going to use for the new game+, but then she got captured or something and I guess you didn't see her again/couldn't get anything you had equipped on her back, so I got frustrated and never finished the game. -
What Do You Do: A Thread About Jobs

You're sure they're not just foreigners? That always throws me off when I visit the US. This one time I bought an album at a record store, and through some miracle I had exactly enough change in my wallet. Of course, when I got to the register, it was more than that because for some reason Americans don't add the tax on the price tag. So I had to use a card. Yeahh, we're tricky like that. It's also why we have 99 Cent stores that are totally better than Dollar stores by one cent. American marketing is like one big illusion show. And it works, too. -
