  1. It's really irritating me that I can't remember which games made me cry. Stupid horrible memory. Possibilities: Heavy Rain (which I still haven't finished) Digital Devil Saga Onimusha II Silent Hill 2/3 Passage/Today I Die (flash games) ???
  2. Hahaha... yeah. With the amount of time I spend procrastinating on the internet, I could spend that time doing something useful, like reading. But then, that's one of the really, really hard parts I've found about this whole 'work at home on the internet' thing. My attention span has gotten truly horrid.
  3. It's because it's such a great book! I haven't read it in years, but it's stuck with me ever since. Also, crazy! The only people I've ever met who have actually read John Crowley were people who I told to read John Crowley. I really love The Deep, Engine Summer, The Solitudes, and Lord Byron's Novel: The Evening Land. I still need to finish the Ægypt tetralogy, read The Translator, and finish Four Freedoms.) Also, I really thought about doing a top 10, because there are so many that I feel like I'm leaving out, but I like the pressure of whittling it down to 5. Yeah, my mom's a huge Crowley fan. She's the biggest book worm I know - it's kind of ridiculous how much she's read and how widely. I do very much recommend the Translator - it's much different than his other work because it's realistic (and slightly historical) fiction, but oh man, is that a powerful novel. His collection of short stories is also very excellent. I'll read Little Big one of these days but urg, my list of books I own and need to read is even longer than my list of games I need to play.
  4. Whoah, I'm surprised we didn't have a thread for this yet, now that I think about it. Also, diedan, my mom's been after me to read Little Big for yeeeears. 1. Women in Love by D.H. Lawrence (ignore the lame title, this is a masterwork) 2. The Dispossessed by Urula K. Leguin 3. The People of Paper by Salvador Plascencia 4. The Translator by John Crowley 5. The Soloist by Mark Salzman Ha... I just realized 4 out of 5 of my books start with 'The' - with the 'lame title' being the only unique one. Wild. I might be forgetting a few of my favorites, but the first three are certainly at the top for me.
  5. Made this way back before the movie came out. It was still sitting on my desktop. Which, if anyone's seen my post in the desktop thread, should be no surprise.
  6. Dean and other forum members have been advertising in Speakup now and then, and maybe other sections of Kotaku. The idea was originally to bring in more members from the steam chat as well, but as far as I can tell, that didn't ever really happen. I'm not sure where else folks might be coming from though, I'd be interested to know.
  7. I have friends that really dig that kind of music, but I could never get into it. I'm a sucker for... well I don't even know how to describe it, really. Just 'pretty' and easily digestible melodies/harmonies, I guess. You just reminded me of this excellent song:
  8. Someone posted this song on one of the old forums - super good/catchy. There's a video now and it's all sorts of awesome, with two particular funny-man cameos.
  9. I'm kind of lame and could never really get into the more trippy/dissonant Portishead songs. Their songs like this though, man, I've listened to so many times:
  10. Does anyone else get sleepy after they eat? Like reaaaaaaaaaally sleepy? ... I really want a nap right now.
  11. It's opening the flood gates to closing down the 'wild west' nature of the web. It will be just as policed and restricted as anything else eventually.
  12. So stoked I finally got this on a Steam sale. I really need to start clearing off old Steam games though, this one is HUGE.
  13. Such a waste of resources. They should have just made a film that explored some new territory - the end of the series was completely left open for that. Like with an older Renton - I would have loved to see that.
  14. I cannot see this video without promptly getting horny. I can't imagine getting it on with Felicia Day though. I heard someone reference her as 'cuter than a barrel of kittens' once, and it's just too true.
  15. Never got around to watching that - what was it exactly, the whole series in movie form?
  16. Yes! I've been waiting to nab the Witcher for AGES. At last. Holy crap though, 16gigs and seven hours to download. I was going to grab RE5 if it was $5 like the summer sale, but now I'm back to considering eventually getting it for the Move on PS3, if I ever do buy the move.
  17. So did I. But it's like $5 for the second one and I'm like... Can't... resist... But then I never finished the first so I'm wondering if it's worth it to buy the whole pack and play through the stories, because apparently they're linked and ARGH. Can't decide.
  18. I'm on the fence about buying any of the Fear games... I had Fear for the xbox but never got very far. Only ten minutes left to decide!
  19. *frantically looks for Reich's reflection* Dammit... Ohh, I really like this one.
  20. BOOOO. Renton did get annoying, but he snaps out of it in the last third of the show. I feel like it's a common trope in anime - hero gets all downtrodden for a while and has to get out of the funk. I never like that bit, but I loved that show afterall. I actually quite like the humor in Soul Eater, but I only watched a few episodes since I had trouble finding subbed eps. Ouran is just ridiculous, homoerotic, over the top humor, but it's excellent.
  21. I have the same OS and I got it working just fine - a couple of days ago, in fact (to get the Steam Zombie Driver objective, haa). You definitely need to install the new drivers - they're a loooot easier to install now that it's digitally signed and you don't need to muck around in the boot menu. I was just looking and can't find the guide I used, but there's a great updated guide out there that walks you through the complicated process of correctly installing the drivers. Are you using Bluetooth? Because I'm using the USB cable you charge your PS3 controller on your PS3 with, and that's been working dandy. It works great once you get it working - I was using it to play Super Meat Boy last night and it was very responsive and great.
  22. For the past few months, at random times the fan attached to my CPU stops spinning, rendering my computer essentially unusable. Just did it again this morning. Usually, I just have to crack open my case, poke around, press down on the CPU area and give the fan a flick or two, and it magically starts whirring again. Fingers crossed that's all I have to do right now - I don't have a computer store place I trust to take my computer it, with all the work information I have on there, and I'm not techy enough to replace a CPU fan if that's what I need - I don't actually even know if that's the problem. Worrisome every time this happens, because I figure eventually it's just going to stop spinning so that I can't start it up again with random poking. Any idea why it keeps doing this? I'm guessing loose connection somewhere, but for the life of me have no idea.
  23. *looks around* That is an incredibly accurate assessment in my case. Just glancing at this makes my eyes hurt. But then again, I imagine most people would have similar issues with my desktop.
  24. BONES is the studio that made Darker than Black - pretty sure it was one of their original series, so not based a manga or anything. Wolf's Rain (super depressing show) and Eureka 7 were also original series of theirs. If you haven't seen Eureka 7, you must - it is an EXCELLENT series. My favorite OP from the series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAYRRWo-tU0 BONES also did both Full Metal Alchemist adaptations, which were both very damn good. Soul Eater is another of their adaptations and the ridiculous, but amazing, Ouran Host High School Club. Basically, most of their shows are gold. Their latest show, Heroman or something, I watched a little of and couldn't get into - seemed aimed at much younger audiences, though it was kind of fun because it was supposed to be set in fictionalized America (pretty sure, what with the American Flag all over the place), which made for some humorous moments/views of Americans. Hopefully they have a new show that hits it out of the park soon - they might already have something new coming up or airing, but I'm not sure, out of the anime loop and haven't found a good website/blog/source for that sort of stuff.
  25. Why is it so coooold in my room... oh, right, I left the window open.
