  1. Yeah, I get that. I'm just adding to the discussion other than, "I agree." Since we have the constant $60, length is correlated to the price, but we also have story. You know, the thing within the game. I'm sure we've all played games where we wanted more of a series simply because of the plot/story. Likewise, I'm sure we've all played a game with a terrible story that we just wanted to rush through. Both those games could be the same length, but the difference is how we perceived the quality. It's not really an equation where "simple = short" and "complex = long." Rather than refining, there does seem to be that "Just make it bigger, because that's better" mentality. I'm just saying, we can't point the finger in exactly one direction. The assumption could be a misinterpretation of when consumer reaction consists of "I wish there was more," or "Dang it, why'd it have to end?"
  2. You could think so, but haven't you ran into anyone before where they argue the opposite? Video comments, blogs, and other gamer sites have had these comments before. It's nice to have small games, but at the same time there are those that want a more filling experience. The crowd that wants to spend hours upon hours in an enriching story, or to be able to replay a game again. Really, length always seems to be on the chopping block when it comes to reviews, or general opinion. I mean, as gamers, gaming is our hobby, and so I would find it rare for someone to argue your stance: that games are too time consuming, or simply too big. We are submitting ourselves to this after all. I guess you could see this as ordering at a restaurant, where the food is so good, but they give you large portion. I think every single consumer can agree with pricing, as at one point we've all felt like we've spent more than we should have on a certain game. Still, I would hardly look directly at the industry and say, "Look at what you're doing to us!" Some want it short and sweet, or others want to grind and spend their week devoted to a single game. I've got a friend who is still playing LittleBigPlanet, whereas I've gone through three games this year. He's got 100% in the game, and that takes a lot of time and effort, but most importantly, a love of the game. Not that creepy kind of love, but the infatuation you might get with something so good. I think that's what (or at least should) hardworking developers strive for, to make the most desirable game. It doesn't always need to have a big wow factor, but something to draw you in and keep you entertained.
  3. This topic needs a little something extra... ...like this!
  4. i.e. The video I've seen years ago being the one Battra posted about fungi attacking specific species of insect, like grasshoppers and moths.
  5. You talkin' 'bout KZ3 or KZ2 there? I sure hope KZ3. Should be getting it tomorrow or Tuesday =D Nope, KZ2! Rockets are not a problem anymore. Only two classes (Tactician and Infiltrator) can equip the VC9 Rocket Launcher at Spawn, and even then that becomes the person's secondary weapon with at most two rockets (extra ammo skill) at Spawn. I think it makes sense with the two classes. Tactician to take down other Sentries, or clear a Spawn Point under enemy control. For Infiltrator, well, I've had a few times where I get in behind enemy lines and use a rocket on enemies protecting the assassination target. Mostly though, I use it to clear out a room so I can proceed through. I'd say 1 out of 5 times do my rockets actually hit anything. They're like a test in some spaces to make sure enemies are not patiently awaiting your entrance.
  6. Yeah, while the DS was an awesome product, the only game I had for a while was Super Mario 64 DS. Well, that, and the Metroid Prime: Hunters demo. It was to the point that my father, having fallen out of the habit previously, had gone on his own to purchase for me a game. It was that Asphalt: Urban GT game, and I at least gave it a chance. Didn't really impress me, and was quite dull. I wish I could have not opened the game as we could have received a full refund, but unfortunate I did want to try out another DS game.
  7. Dead Hand and Infinite Hands, why I sometimes procrastinate upon entering the Shadow Temple Oh, and Wallmasters. Freakin' shadow zombie hands that fall from the ceiling...
  8. Alright, I thought Rico eff'd up pretty bad in KZ2, but Sev went, like, 10,000 fold over killing a dictator. EDIT: Visari is not coming back, seriously! What would be the point of Killzone 3? Visari wanted his people to take furious vengeance upon the ISA (jailed or killed), not cannibalize themselves in his absence. What? So now he's going to... EDIT2: Also, if you still don't believe me, as others online have said, look at the shadow cast upon the left Stahl Arms Hazmat Soldier. Definitely not the silhouette of Visari, and why would he have been in a Cruiser Invasion Pod? You know, those things you see in Killzone 2 that fly out from a Helghan Cruiser!
  9. The problem, at least for me, was how Plasmids and Weapons would swap in-game. It was awkward, whereas BioShock 2 allowed you to flow between Plasmids and Weapons since they were always raised. You could pull off great combination moves, and while it was possible in the first BioShock, it was more of a hassle in that game. Seriously, for a majority of the first game, I was playing it like a standard shooter. Weapons, weapons, weapons, oh hey, I have mutant powers! Ugh, I have to put away my gun?
  10. Finished KZ3 Campaign and... the story does suck. For the most part, I thought it was alright, but the last few chapters were just... /facepalm

    2. WTF

      WTF

There was actual focus-testing for KZ3 though and not just with regards to the gameplay. There were quite a few consultations to make sure people enjoyed it. The story while better than CoD was influenced by these decisions. It's an unfortunate turnout, but it did happen.

This isn't how they should've done it and yes KZ2 had an average story with good characterisation and the sequel the opposite. I'm pretty sure I typed in more stating exactly what you said about st...

      WTF

lol yeah it is getting truncated. Didn't notice that the first time.

    4. SomTervo

      SomTervo

The story of the first game was pretty damn sweet.

In the sequel they clearly aimed more for console benchmarking and action than story, but it's still there, and it takes you to some interesting places, while not being exciting for it's own merit. The dialogue was pretty dire.

I haven't played 3 yet, but from the demo and videos, the dialogue writing looked hugely improved, whereas the story seemed totally directionless, even more so than 2.

I is scared for the future of the community. The peoples, we need the active e-lifestyle. We are the progress, yes, yes.

  12. I've seen the YouTube video years ago, and it is definitely some crazy, crazy stuff, dude. Also, when you think about it... and... From Bulbapedia, for Parasect: Like its previous stage, Parasect is an insectoid creature. However, in this stage, the mushroom has completely overtaken the host's body. The insect has been drained of nutrients and is now under the control of the fully grown tochukaso. Due to the influence of the tochukaso in its growth, the insect's metamorphosis has been stunted and it instead resembles a grotesque, exaggerated version of its former self. Its pincers and legs have grown much larger and the mushrooms on its back have grown together into one giant mushroom. Its eyes have become whited out resembling those of zombies, likely due to its being possessed by the tochukaso.
  13. You may have played as Gabe last, but the scene was after the credits. As Lexine was in sight, it was either Gabe, Nate, or possibly a Necromorph that got aboard the shuttle. Of course, how the heck does a Necromorph stay hidden for so long... Otherwise, you could chalk it up as a hallucination. It's what became of the Dead Space [1] ending when Dead Space 2 begins. Nate is relatively the same age as Gabe, as both fought in the Resource Wars. Either male Lexine could have hooked up with was going to be older than her by many years. Perhaps they couldn't get the actor for Nate, or maybe Lexine will meet up with Nate somewhere else. The point of Severed was to further the ability Lexine possesses, and how there is something larger than Unitology and EarthGov trying to use the Marker. Of course, if you've read Martyr, you're already aware of the connections between organizations hundreds of years in advance. Even Aftermath reveals a bit much, though unrefined, as far as the Overseer and shady nature surrounding many branches of government in the Dead Space universe.
  14. I think the only real question is what happened to Nate. Like, was he really that Necromorph, or in the three years after Extraction, did he go somewhere else? Lexine and Gabe, well, we can assume a standard relationship flow. They arrived on the Sprawl, wherein Gabe became employed in Security, whereas Lexine could have done something too. With their prior experiences, they formed a connection. So, going on dates, some more intimate moments, eventually Gabe popped the question and Lexine accepted. A little intercourse later and the bun is in the oven. With a little more time, Necromorphs are on the loose! Truth be told, if you wanted to know more of the outbreak, EA put that stuff in the Dead Space mobile game.
  15. How my roommate believes he could take on a black belt I know/respect/fear because martial arts isn't "real" fighting.

  17. Yeah, the host would make the rules. I can't remember everything thing, but I very much remember rockets being disabled in latter matches over the game's lifespan.
  18. I'm in the middle ground where, yeah, it's ridiculous to offer something that's already on disc, but if it's something you don't care about, why does it affect you? If you're going to get any DLC for BioShock 2, get Minerva's Den. I stopped playing the multiplayer simply because leveling up and playing was so tedious. So yeah, I'll never get the multiplayer trophies for leveling up.
  19. Oh shi-, TM's don't expire?! Dang it, I don't know still... To Pokemon, or not to Pokemon, that is the conundrum!
  20. Completely agree. While I think "on-disc" DLC is a little backhanded, most of the time those have been frivolous additions. Personally, I get annoyed by people who always take offense by DLC. Recent example would be Severed. "Oh, great, more stuff that shoulda been on the disc!" I went through Severed, and really, it's a little over an hour long. Maybe it could have been on the disc, but it probably went into production when certain parts of the game were completed. That's easy to say because it backtracks to visited areas in Isaac's run of Dead Space 2, but with environmental changes. Point is, it's not necessary. I've theorized that there is plot content for Dead Space 3, but there's really only three minutes of in-game footage that justifies it. Besides, not everyone has played Extraction, so including this into the main series would confuse those without the Wii title, or Dead Space 2 editions with a free copy of Extraction. Otherwise, to understand the $7 Severed DLC, you would need to buy the $15 Extraction game off PSN.
  21. I may be on Killzone 3, I may not. Depends on how the first few matches go, yo.

  22. I don't know if you guys are aware, but on the map we played last night, the indestructible turrets (bot) on the long stretch of road, on both sides, are incredibly deadly. I mean, I was so far away, but the turret bots caught me and were firing away with deadly precision. Also, don't Brutal Melee someone near one of your proximity mines. If you saw last night that I "committed suicide," it was because my Brutal Melee animation dragged the guy close enough to one of my proximity mines.
  23. Very nice! Apparently, your love life is beautiful, fun, and one of the highlights of this year! Also slightly disturbing and gooey.
  24. I'm sorry, but this one beats that video. It's by the same user, but I couldn't stop laughing throughout the whole thing!
  25. Sorry for not playing Operations. That Warzone match was going to be my last, and hey, I was doing awesome! Who got all the Speakers and delivered them? ME! So yeah, wasn't going to pass up on major points. Also boosted my K/D ratio, but my last two deaths were pretty cheap. Spawn, explosion (0:02), spawn, explosion (0:04)! Probably the most important thing was that I never have played on that map. Of the two retro maps, I would always end up on the other. Considering it has those mechs, it might be my favorite now.
