  1. My friend was telling me about this list yesterday. Glad you brought it up so I can actually give it a look. Before reading, I have to say, the Ghost-type Pokemon always have a really sinister description. Even though there's supposedly no bad Pokemon, I think stealing souls and burning with hell fire is a bit much, right? EDIT: Alright, I'm beginning to think I should wait to catch Virizion because none of the PokeBalls I have are effective in catching it. I did catch it, in one of the battles I didn't cause it to faint, but I wasted 8 Ultra Balls, a Timer Ball, a Heal Ball, a Net Ball, and 2 Dusk Balls before it was caught. I only had to use 2 Dusk Balls before Cobalion was caught, but that's thanks to fighting in a cave. I mean, Virizion broke through those Ultra Balls as soon as they landed! So, if Neo says Quick Balls are cheap Master Balls, so be it. It's only 4x at the first turn, nothing more. It was that way in Gen IV, we'll have it that way in Gen V. Of course, you can't purchase any Quick (or Timer) Balls until you reach the 8th city. Those 3 you get for free, well, I wasted a Quick Ball thinking the second turn was still highly effective. I learned that after the first turn (4x) that every turn counts as 1x (regular PokeBall stat). EDIT2: I'm going with Litwick for a team member. Chandelure has the highest Special Attack of all non-legendary Pokemon, period. Sure it means I won't have a Chandelure until Lv. 69, but at least I'll have a good non-legendary Fire-type. Not to mention that Will-o-Wisp + Hex = Death!
  2. I helped a friend purchase Pokemon Black, and gave her an online signal to receive Victini. Ain't I a sweetheart. ;)

PSH I bought White for my girlie friend on the following day of release. Although she does have her own wireless, and I haven't talked to her since then...

  3. Alright, I had to revive this thread for the movie I saw tonight. Grown Ups... I have to rant about this because there's someone, a friend of a roommate, who drives me up the wall. She's like a bizarro variant of myself. I also find her to be a bit hypocritical. She thinks playing video games is a waste of someone's time, but I could say the same about her watching five hours of sports television. Anyway, the point being she recommended the movie whilst we were scrolling through Netflix. I told everyone that it was reviewed poorly, but she convinced everyone that it was, indeed, very funny. It's not like the movie didn't try to provide laughs; it's that it tried to cram a joke into every half minute, and 95% of them were either poorly executed or, well, not funny. I desperately wanted to comment during the movie, but I knew it would only make be rude. Didn't need to after half the people in the room fell asleep. There was also conflict in what the hell kinda vibe the movie wanted to pull off. Was it trying to be humble and nostalgic by referring back to an adult's youth, or was it trying to show that no one is normal and every family is strange. You can very well pull those two together, but in this movie, they were like oil and water. "Dang, by kids have got to be normal. Oh, hey, your wife breastfeeds your four year-old! Really though, my wife needs to let her work stop controlling her life. By the way, this Chinese woman is not our nanny and I will constantly tell her to study a book because I am trying to convince you she is really a foreign exchange student." "Well, you know, we're family men now, but... What's that? Your having some family drama? Would you mind if I throw out two or three comical remarks while you guys go about resolving your issue? Oh, alright. Oh, and don't be afraid to joke about the situation too, like, when it's something that could be potentially life altering, both maritally and socially."
  4. I just got to see a 3DS, and it blew my mind! After my friend finally gave up the prime position, I got to play the Pilotwings game. As far as the angle to see the 3D, it's fairly obvious to tell which angle works. All you have to do look straight forward. I'm not sure how much distance, but I definitely had an average viewing distance.
  5. To shave, or not to shave... That is the scruffy question!

  6. Seriously, Bide is what got me a bit perturbed about high-powered moves early in the game. Of course, yeah, use a good status move and Bide becomes useless. For me the second gym battle was kinda a joke. What made it difficult was my obsession with having a six Pokemon team, so my Pokemon were all Lv. 16-17. It's kinda hard to grind your team to level equally at the beginning. Now I've got Exp. Share and the Lucky Egg to help!
  7. I really don't have one. I mean, if I feel uncontrollable about getting/playing a game, chances are I don't have the game. Though I'll say this, Pokemon White (and Black) does come off as a guilty pleasure at my age. I really only got White because I had offline friends, and you guys, to talk about Pokemon. Otherwise, it would feel weird as a grown man to indulge in the game. Like, I haven't hidden the fact I'm playing Pokemon to most of my associates, but I do kinda keep it to myself when I'm playing in front of them. ..except on Facebook! I linked to that YouTube video Excel put up of the Gym "Last Pokemon" Battle music.
  8. Like I said, Galvantula is boss. What bothers me is that the egg I received from Treasure Hunter on Route 18 is going to become a Larvesta, a Bug-Fire type. Yeah, that's awesome, so why should I complain? I already have a partial Bug-type. Galvantula is only weak against Rock- and Fire-type moves. Because it's Bug-Electric it loses the Flying-type weakness. So lets say eventually I could have a Volcarona. It'll be another Pokemon on my team that is weak against Rock-type moves, but what's worse is that the dual type combination makes it even more vulnerable to Rock. There's also the fact that Larvesta doesn't evolve until Lv. 59! Then all its moves are learned every 10 levels... I also put an Excadrill on my team, but I'm not entirely sure if it's permanent. It's weak against Fire, Water, Fighting, and... Ground. Yet, it's a Pokemon with a lot of resistance. Like, half damage to 8 types, a quarter to Rock, and is unaffected by Electric and Poison.
  9. I concur on Stoutland. Take Down is a really dangerous move in Black and White! Nothing wrong with using Lillipup at the beginning. I did the same thing, and they're definitely tough. I just don't bother with Normal-types unless they're tanks like Audino. [EDIT] Well, unless they're Normal-Flying like my cool Unfezant. Might look into Deerling, the Normal-Grass Pokemon.
  10. It's because all the sprites are relatively the same size, at least from a canvas perspective. I would imagine it's easier to design the rear that way, but as such the game zooms in on your Pokemon. You'll notice that when the Pokemon executes a move, the camera pans out a bit. Also, if you're inactive for a bit, the camera sways across the battlefield.
  11. There's going to be a lot of freaky End of Times lovin' goin' on. If you're going out, go out with a grin on your face.
  12. I would be interested in Nintendogs + cats if I didn't already have a real Pembroke Welsh Corgi. I know people tend to rag on Nintendogs, but I do owe it for helping me convince the parents to have a family dog. I wanted a German Shepard at first, but they were totally uninterested in a large breed. They wanted something small... Perfect solution: the Pembroke Welsh Corgi! A medium-sized breed that, while small, doesn't act like an annoying rat-breed. /end
  13. Actually Heart... I did use a Net Ball, but all that happened was one jiggle/struggle and it broke out. I know I used 10 PokeBalls, so perhaps is was six instead of seven Ultra Balls. Not like I wasted any money since you get a lot of free Ultra Balls. So yeah, because it was an evolved Pokemon at Lv. 7, that's why I made an effort to catch it. Supposedly the game is coded to allow for such Pokemon. I mean, why else would there be a learned move list for Pokemon that evolve at a certain level. Also, I'm glad to have White because of the prospect of the White Forest. Black City is suppose to have a lot of items for sale, but considering I don't have a WEP Wi-Fi connection, and a single DS, getting some of older gen Pokemon is a better option.
  14. I would like to say Valkyria Chronicles, but at the same time that game has been receiving its fair share of sequels and an anime. Viewtiful Joe is my choice! Sure, the series got a TV show as well, but I feel like Joe is headed towards the obscure spectrum of the gaming world. Two amazing games, a few spin-offs (...alright), and Clover Studios is dissolved by Capcom. The trilogy never was completed, and now Joe himself is reduced to a special guest in two fighting games. At least Okami got a decent sequel after Clover Studios faded away...
  15. I'm fully aware of False Swipe, what with it being a relatively old technique. However, much like with HM01 "Cut," I usually have a "Move Pokemon" for such situations. Basically, I don't plan on ever teaching my team False Swipe. After all, it was my first time going through Route 17, 18, and P2 Laboratory. I did consider replacing Quick Attack with False Swipe for Unfezant, but I typically treat Quick Attack as a finishing move. Can't quite exactly finish an opponent while leaving 1HP. EDIT: I'm also thinking of revamping my team. Sorry Neo, but using a legendary on my team is like using cruise control. Victini easily has the best stats of any Pokemon (so far), and even when at a type disadvantage, it takes a few good hits before fainting. There's also the fact that legendary Pokemon can't be used for everything in-game. All I know for sure is that Samurott and Galvantula are still permanent members. I was thinking of Litwick, but his final evolution is one of those stone oriented types where it doesn't learn any moves. So the second stage, Lampent, would need to become Lv. 69 before I finally evolve it.
  16. I don't like to "Run" in Pokemon, but when you forgot to get some Repel, running is a good option when confronted with 200 Frillish.

    1. Enervation

      Enervation

      Bike! Bike everywhere!

  17. I caught one of these while surfing through Route 17, and it was at Lv. 7! It took ten PokeBalls as neither of my Pokemon could weaken it without making it faint. I mean, most of my team is at Lv. 37-38! My plan was to kill a lot of time so my Timer Ball could do the job, but after exhausting 7 Ultra Balls, a Dusk Ball, and a Great Ball, somehow a Heal Ball did the job. Meh, pretty pink ball for a floating pink head. P.S. Galvantula is boss!
  18. Oh, I guess I should have posted this sooner... I saw Tangled about a week ago at the local Dollar Theater, and I really liked it. Like, I've heard that it was good and I thought as much, but it was better than good. It was pretty great! *pre-order on Amazon*
  19. So, yeah, how about that Black Mask in Arkham City?
  20. I've always related with Second-in-Command characters, or simply #2. I can't put my finger on it, but I really like Luigi as a whole. Sure he's kinda a coward, but when the chips are down, he comes in fists a blazin' green flame!
  21. The appeal to Arkham is that it contains (almost) the entirety of Batman's Rogue Gallery. When he had to take on the place, it wasn't just a few loons, but Joker, Croc, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Zsasz, even Bane. Another nice touch was that, though some (important) figures were missing, you had references to them either by visuals or documents. If anything, using "Arkham" is a good excuse for compiling every villain to take on Bats. EDIT: IGN does their Rewind Theater for the new trailer, and it actually shows some potential reveals. http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/03/15/batman-arkham-city-rewind-theater
  22. Well, considering how eff'd up Arkham Asylum became after Joker's rampage, along with the other villains, it might have seemed like a good solution to containing all the baddies...
  23. Even with the price drop, I'll still probably pass on the game. I've got a lot more demanding purchases in the future. While the story might be interesting, if it really is that short, this comes off as though it were meant to be a $20-$30 game.
  24. I've heard the theory that the cycling represents a "renewal" in the world. So, instead of "THE END" coming in December 21, 2012, there will be something so life altering that civilization will essentially renew. Supposedly it'll be a massive flooding of the continents. Not like we can't survive that, right super secret Chinese Noah Arks of the Future! (Only good thing about that movie was the Queen's Corgis...)
