  1. I think it's ugly. It looks like a fisher price toy (XP was ugly for similar reasons on the default color scheme).
  2. I've had Hitachi drives before. Don't remember off the top of my head if I had any problems though.
  3. I have reason to believe I'm getting Firefly The Game for my birthday. I'm super excited.
  4. Victims rights is just vengeance, and has no place in a civilized justice system. It's horrible to be the victim of horrible things, but vengeance doesn't change that they happened, and it serves no moral purpose. The justice system should be designed to protect society from horrible things happening, which means doing everything we can to prevent people from committing crimes in the first place (and not in the police-state sense, but by trying to understand what the root causes are so we can address them as a society), and for those who do commit crimes rehabilitating the ones who can be and removing/isolating the ones who can't. Now if you want to argue that execution is a just and efficient way to remove those deemed too dangerous to participate in society then fine, but the desire for retribution shouldn't enter into it. tl;dr: Two wrongs don't make a right. But three lefts do. P.S. I'm not saying I necessarily believe that capital punishment is a wrong, I'm just saying that the desire for vengeance isn't a valid justification for it.
  5. I think what you need to do to get it to work right is delete the poll altogether, save the post without a poll, then edit the post again to add a new poll.
  6. I'm interested, and my vote would be for Axis and Allies. I love that game but I never get to play it.
  7. It would be cheaper to kill, except it takes so long before they can actually be executed that it ends up being more expensive because of all the court proceedings and everything that they have to have.
  8. Suddenly I feel very inadequate in my board game adventures. I think Axis & Allies might be the most complicated boardgame I've ever played.
  9. Well I just finished Splinter Cell HD on PS3 yesterday and moved on to Pandora Tomorrow HD. I'm really enjoying myself. I got the collection when it first came out in 2011, but made it only like halfway through the first level of Splinter Cell before losing my mind because of how slow it was. I'm not sure what the difference is, other than maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for it two years ago. The only other thing I can think of is that maybe I was trying to hard to be completely stealthy, whereas this time I've been having a slightly more aggressive approach (nowhere near as aggressive as Conviction, but not trying to leave everyone completely undisturbed either), which makes the game go a lot faster, with a lot less sitting, waiting, moving, getting seen, loading a save, sitting, waiting again, though it's still definitely not a fast game.
  10. Just finished Splinter Cell HD and really enjoyed it. Up next, Pandora Tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm flashing back to college. It's funny how little I remember some of these levels, but then a specific thing that Sam or someone else says really triggers as a very clear memory.

Video games bring back very, very clear memories of otherwise hazy times in one's life.

I personally can't play Ocarina of Time without getting memories of doing shit with cousins at every corner of the game. Or how to beat practically every temple by memory. Think the only one I can't remember is light temple.

  11. Does anyone have a save file for Layton Unwound Future they can share? My wife's got corrupted and she doesn't want to start over. Thanks.

She said she just found out about Clive, but really anything would be helpful.

Doing some more research I need a save at the end of Chapter 12/beginning of Chapter 13. I also hit up reddit, but if you guys can think of anywhere else I should try I'd appreciate it.

  12. Does anyone have a save file for Unwound Future that they could share with me? The DS died tonight while my wife was saving and it corrupted her file. She thinks she was pretty close to the end, she had just found out about Clive. Obviously the closer to that the better, but any file that would save her having to start from the beginning would be appreciated.
  13. I think it's weird EU isn't first, for the reasons dean mentioned. Game streaming is hard in NA cause everything's so damn spread out that you can't help but have latency issues.
  14. Yeah, I don't see trying to adapt old games to touch controls working very well for anything faster than Advance Wars or Pokemon.
  15. I agree with all of that, and I never would have expected them to consider developing for competing mobile platforms, but from the link on the last page it looks like they're the ones kicking the idea around, and while it seems weird for them it would benefit me so I'm all for it.
  16. The one plus out of this is that it looks like the 3DS is also performing below expectations, and that Nintendo is actually kicking around the idea of developing games for mobile devices. That is something I can get behind. Pokemon Sigma and Lambda on my phone? Fuck yes. If that happens I would also hope that they would start developing games for the other consoles as well, which is another thing I can get behind.
  17. 3D World is really good, but it just feels small, like the 2D Mario games. I don't think it's really comparable to past 3D Marios, it's just different. I don't want an HD continuation of Galaxy, I want a new 3D Mario altogether.
  18. If I get one new Zelda and one real 3D Mario I'll be happy, but I'm starting to doubt I'll even get that.
  19. I enjoyed the fights, but I felt like there was way too much downtime for how bad the acting and script were.
  20. It's not the same Link. Each game is set in a different era, with a different Link (barring a couple direct sequels), so it's not that he doesn't age, it's just different people who are all around the same age at the time they do their world saving.
  21. I want to play the Last of Us DLC, but I don't own the game and it's too expensive still to buy and then still have to buy the DLC. :/

I'd sell you mine for cheap, but I want to play the DLC first.

I might do that if I don't just rent it first.

I think I've replayed the game a good 8-9 times all the way and on all the different difficulties. It just has that replay factor for me. For some others, it won't. I'd suggest renting it for the DLC, though. But I know I'll be buying it.

  22. Nonono, Nathan Fillion is going to be too busy with ABC's new Firefly show that they're totally going to make.
  23. Looking it up, it seems they didn't order the full season until October 10, like two weeks after the first episode aired, so I'm guessing the second half of the season is going to be tweaked to account for some of the criticisms of the first half. Also, it normally takes shows at least half a season to hit their stride, and often one or two full seasons.
  24. You guys let me know how Rain is. I was interested pre-release, but then I heard not good things about it.
  25. This ruling was obvious from the moment the FCC passed their ass-backward regulations. They just need to reclassify ISPs as telecommunicatinos providers so they're subject to the general regulations instead of trying to have their cake and eat it too.
