  1. Totally agree. Some of my favorite parts of Halo (the first one) are when you come across groups of Covenant fighting the Flood.
  2. Okay, my first reaction upon hearing that that movie is getting a sequel was "I liked Kick Ass, but it doesn't need a sequel." My reaction upon finishing the trailer is "I want to see this."
  3. Apparently a source close to the development but wishing to remain anonymous has told RPS that the servers are unnecessary for single-city play. Obviously those cities are so small you're going to fill it up really quick, but EA could have saved so much negativity by just letting you do it and then saying if you want a deeper game play online.
  4. It just seems like it's enough different that it should have been standalone. Entirely subjective.
  5. Huh, I really thought it was an expandalone, but I just looked and it's not. That's stupid.
  6. There's not really anything in the box. There's the disc, a quick-start guide ("insert the disc to install the game"), a couple of WoL and WoW trials, and a zerg-themed notepad, which is a little nifty but ultimately kind of weird. The box itself is nice looking though.
  7. lmao, I automatically read phrase "requires more minerals" in the Protoss interface voice. Guess I know what race I play as the most...
  8. Conveniently (for me) the client I'm supposed to have court with is in jail in another jurisdiction, so I may not actually have court anyway.
  9. I get why the British care, because it's their people the Argentines are trying to kick out, but I don't get why the fuck the Argentines care after all this time. They're just some goddamn islands in the middle of the South Atlantic, with none of your people on them. I understand there's some oil, but apparently its exploitation has only become feasible in the last decade or so, long after the 1982 invasion. I just don't get it.
  10. Has anyone played this yet? Mine should be arriving later today (I prefer to have discs cause I'm weird like that). I'm stoked. Although I might have court tonight at 6, and if so won't get home till like 7 or 8, in which case
  11. So the SimCity fiasco has gotten bad enough it's now showing up on whatever general news sites my wife browses. She just asked me "did you know people still can't play Sim City V?"

lol, just saying it's beginning to permeate non-gamer society.

BBC covered it too. EA and the Sims series isn't a small thing. COD, Sims n WoW. Those are the biggies.

  12. After a long time, I've finally decided that I actually like the Star Trek franchise as a whole better than Star Wars. That was really hard to admit to myself.
  13. It just occurred to me that, honestly, I think it would bother me a lot less if Youtube/other sites that display them would recognize it and reshape the video player to suit. Without the black bars on the side it wouldn't be nearly so off-putting.
  14. I know why they do it, what I don't get is how you can do that more than once without realizing it's idiotic when viewed on anything other than a phone.
  15. Yeah, I really like Endless Space a lot. One of the cooler 4X battle systems too.
  16. It has the advantages of both consoles and PCs, for the low low price of both of those things combined! Also, the fact that it's on Linux kind of limits the library...
  17. Why do people insist on holding their phones the wrong direction when taking video?
  18. Now I'm trying to decide where on my shelf to put Captain America and the Iron Man movies. Normally I alphabetize things, but I make an exception for series (for example The Dark Knight follows Batman Begins even though there are other movies that should come between in a strict alphabetical sense), but I can't decide whether to treat Iron Man and Captain America as being part of the Marvel's Avengers series or as their own things.
  19. Did you take that yourself? Otherwise I'm skeptical of it's authenticity.
  20. Doesn't that DLC thing break the whole concept of it being okay to rely on others cause if they abandon the city someone else can claim it?
  21. So, I'm gonna ask this again, with a slight modification: If a publisher releases a game that I won't buy because of always-on DRM, couldn't play it even if I did, but at least I can't pirate it either, has the publisher won?

And yeah, the topic was biased but I intended it to be.

@Eleven: Basically, that's the case. Both parties lose. I might have purchased SimCity V if it weren't for the whole DRM deal. Won't now. We both lose.

^That. I really wish it wasn't like that, because I was really excited for this game, and enjoyed the beta, but I just can't pay for always-online.

  22. I like SimCity 2000 better than 3000, never played much of 4.
