  1. Yeah, replacing Sam's voice kills it for me. My reaction is just "WRONG! WRONG WRONG WRONG!" every time the new one speaks. Also it was dumb that they made him look younger. Totally agree that they should have made Sam the new head of Third Echelon (the "Fourth Echelon" thing is stupid too, but I can get over that), and had the actual PC be a new character, one of the guys Sam trained.
  2. There were certainly amusing parts, but I felt like there wasn't really a plot for the most part. It was just a bunch of things that happened.
  3. I think they're reading too much into it, if you go look at the actual source. It says it's designed to maintain a constant internet connection but nothing says that a connection is required. Also the context is important I think: where it's mentioned is when the document is talking about how the 720 will have different power states and remain in standby rather than being "off", and will update automatically while in standby, etc, so users don't have to wait for updates to install when they want to be playing.
  4. I refuse to use cheats on a first time through (on older games, newer games don't even have cheats so it's a non-issue), but if I'm replaying something just for the story I'll use cheats/exploits/whatever to make it faster.
  5. I like how the voice sounds like a real person who just happens to be the worst voice actor in the world.
  6. power overwhelming operation cwal show me the money Makes the campaign of the first game go a lot faster if you just want the story.
  7. I haven't played the last DLC yet so I can't comment on how it affects the tone. Maybe you'll be right and I won't like it. *Edit* - Also, the back-end of YOU is mostly crap.
  8. What? I actually like the game a lot and thought the Extended Cut fixed all my major complaints. So I mean I'm playing through ME3 with them. I actually only played through ME3 once at launch.
  9. Yeah, I know a lot of people thought it was bloated, and I can see why, but I loved all the side stuff. I mean, Skyrim is bloated too, but it's considered a bonus. Anyway, I've been playing ME3 again. Now that the last DLC is out I can finally bring all my Sheps through to the end of their journey.
  10. It's from somewhere in the book series, don't remember which book specifically though.
  11. Are you a Cantonese-type? Have we talked about this, before? Do you speak Cantonese? A note on casual racism: some people can take it, others can't. Stuff like Wally is describing is good for Wally, but sometimes it can get overwhelming, particularly when you're in an area isolated from others like you, and see no other people of your particular... strain. It may be entirely psychological (I would argue it certainly is not), but I think it fair to say that racism is absolutely still around, and that casual and humorous racism (as one sees, for example, in shows such as 30 Rock, The Office, Girls... most TV comedies, really) can tend to institutionalize and, to an extent, reify the notion that we live in a post-race society, and that xenophobic japes are broadly 'okay', which they are not. My college experience was fraught with racial tension and strife, on a personal plane, and I have had innumerable experiences where I have encountered physical abuse due to the color of my skin; I do not mean to suggest others in this thread haven't, and I think it reasonable to draw some sort of causal thread between more overtly oppressive abuse and lighthearted, though much more pervasive jesting in small groups. I only mean to suggest that we should be careful when using race-based humor, no matter what the context. My wife studied psychology in university, and something they talked about in one of her classes is the fact that racism (actual racism, not just racial insensitivity) is actually increasing again for the first time in decades, especially among young people, and the leading hypothesis is that because everyone acts like racism is a thing of the past and doesn't exist anymore people aren't conscious about it so they don't actively teach their kids not to be racist like they would have in the past.
  12. I saw a bumper sticker today that said "Guns don't kill people, abortion clinics do." I wish I could believe it was intended ironically.
  13. Wow, what an asshole.
  14. I've been getting that one all day too.
  15. Did it finally implode? *Edit* - I say "finally" not because it seemed inevitable, but because it seemed like it was going strong for a really long time.
  16. Not a bad selection of games (except for Warfighter). It cracks me up that SimCity 4 is one of the options.
  17. George Takei posted this on Facebook: Captioned: A cat is a cat, so if there's a box...
  18. They ask the computer to compute the answer to the ultimate question of Life, the Universe and Everything, it comes back with 42, they say that makes no sense and ask what the question is, it says I don't know you'll have to build a better computer.
  19. I KNOW! It's the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything! Gah, get it right!
  20. Are you sure that's not an 80's metal band album cover?
