Yeah, I'm getting along just fine with my GTX 470 now, but daaaaaaaaamn... I'm going to try to hold out for a new card until at least the next console generation rolls around, cause I think that's when I'm next going to start running into problems being able to run games.

Hmm, he still said that for me...at one point. He did for my second playthrough, but not my first. I was excited that he hadn't said it in my first, but then was pissed when he did in my second. I think if you're running through the area too fast it gets cut off by other dialog, that's why he doesn't always say it. We weren't talking about the catalyst being the DEM (or at least I wasn't), we were talking about the prothean device itself, or at least the plans for it. I think that it's deus ex machina if you look at the series as a whole, but agree that within ME3 alone it's more of a McGuffin.

Well paragon/renegade is the Mass Effect equivalent of a persuade skill, which has been a staple of RPGs since forever.

That's pretty damn misleading. Though I'll say it doesn't look like it's probably intentional: the sticker is in the exact same place on every other game box. So either they were just slapping it on the upper right corner of every game without thinking about it, or they're being very devious in their attempt to hide their attempted deception.

I'm kinda with Hot Heart. I'll agree the wording wasn't very good, it did throw me off for a second, but given the way the entire rest of the series has worked I knew that the paragon/renegade option would be the one to let you get the best of both worlds. You NEVER get that kind of outcome with just a regular dialogue choice throughout the whole series, it has to be a paragon/renegade choice.

I played it for 4 hours. There are 9 worlds, with 2 acts per world, plus all the challenges. I haven't played many of the challenges yet though.

tbh, there HAD to be some sort of deus ex machina. After the events of the previous games there's no way the races of the galaxy were prepared to defeat the reapers without it. I did think though that their explanation later in the game for the origin of that deus ex machina from the beginning is pretty cool.
