TIL he's a companion. Now I'm curious if I have more companions than I thought (that's in reference to Mister Jacks, thankfully only start of "Confidence Man" so not got the stage. Thanks for the heads up, I'll hold off. tbh I don't mind Travis' radio personality)

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/11/ars-benchmarks-show-significant-performance-hit-for-steamos-gaming/ Turns out SteamOS kinda sucks as an OS for gaming compared to the more general Windows 10.

Wonder how much of a loss MS and SE will make on it. Be sucky for them if the PS4 and PC versions sold more. Considering S-E execs were complaining Tomb Raider hadn't sold enough made it even worse they'd go and sign up for a timed exclusivity deal.
-
Word on the street is this has bombed in sales with just 60K copies sold in UK. Not a surprise given it was launched up against Fallout 4 and MS paid for a timed exclusive. I wonder how it'll fare when it launches on PS4 and PC later this year (PS4 version of original Tomb Raider was at 20K sales last week).

Only "game breaking" bugs I've had are a couple of CTDs, which over a now 28hr play span isn't too bad. Other than that just issues with the brahamin in Sanctuary getting on the roof. And once Piper did too then be all "I can't go there" when I tried to get her to walk to me so I could take my loot off her, had to fast travel somewhere. (In fact it not showing up companions on the map is annoying as hell. In fact it does it the same with enemies too, it's only when they see you that they show up in the compass making stealth attacks much harder since you'll just sneak right around a corner into them). No point raising your Perception if you're still tied to physically having to be able to hear Raiders, or see them in a swathe of brown wood, or heck one time I had a floodlight pointed down the corridor I came up so could hardly make out anything). But yeah, *touch wood* pretty bug free.

I haven't played a boardgame in so long. Frag seems kinda neat.

Yeah, sprinting and bash/grenade wasn't a thing in previous games. PC has more than enough buttons but they've managed to mess up a bunch of them.

Been following along through the BBC app, bits on the TV now n then. It's crap. Heart out to those in Paris.

Housemate made the 12th Doctor. Pretty good likeness.
-
None of them will, you need to manually equip items to companions and settlers. On PC it's T. Not sure on consoles but should say at the bottom of the Trade window.

You guys send your dog out to attack super mutants with only a inch of fur as protection while you sit in your mobile tank?!?! (also none of you fought raider dogs, they're usually the ones to pull it from)

I think he can only have dog armour. Though I've seen Codsowrth with a bowler hat.

Errrm...sure. Tone seems to rapidly change near the end of the trailer though. I'll have to dig into my Empires n see if this was covered.

How's everyone fairing so far? I'm not overly far into the story. Got to Diamond City and initiated a couple stuff there but other than that largely exploring the northern area of the map (though starting to hit high-level stuff so gonna put off for a while) and a bit of digging around the main city area, which is really nice. It's a shame most of the buildings are boarded up like the previous games, but it's much more denser now and with the vertical added it's pretty nice. Cleared out a couple buildings and adding stuff to my map. Sanctuary I've got a few buildings made including a "Minuteman HQ" which I'm filling with crap weapons for settlers and other stuff like that, as well as decorating as a army HQ/barracks style. I've been checking. some builds online and folks have walled off fortresses and aerial walkways and all sorts. Pretty neat. The limb damage stuff is great. I figured from their blog post on updating that that it'd mean that when you shoot a limb off it'd be more accurate to where you shot, but nope it means during fights you end up with armless ghouls and protectrons without feet: http://i.imgur.com/FIZemx8.gifv Rather enjoying it, and nice to see what they've updated the visuals on, and which they've left (e.g most enemies are same style, apart from ghouls which are less people-like now...oh god Glowing Ones are pretty). Weapons seem to be the main change. Oh and the pi-boy which is now more "functional" with you loading in holotapes, and the plug to R2-D2 your way into some systems. Not used the app for that yet. It said I'd need to reset my game so couldn't be arsed, will do it tonight. Also now I've the actual disc I'll install to my SSD and see if it means I lose loading screens like Skyrim did. Only bummer is the dialogue really. It's nice that it's fully voiced, but as expected that came at a loss of nuance to the conversations and practically no perk benefits show up apart from the "money?" "more money?" stuff. Also it's kinda silly you can move a little bit and it ends the convo to need to start up again.

So to advertise that they've spent a lot of money getting Tomb Raider sequel as an timed exclusive, timed alongisde Fallout 4 coming out, Microsfot have got 8 people on a billboard: http://uk.businessinsider.com/xbox-tomb-raider-survival-billboard-ad-2015-11?r=US&IR=T As in real life people stood on a billboard. Whoever lasts longest gets to go for a "tomb raider inspired trip".

I've put in about 3hrs last night (through ways which mean I'll likely be starting afresh tonight when I've the disc in my hands). How Spoilery are we going? Pretty much everything I've done so far apart from "that segment" is what we've seen in their trailers with the 50's suburbia and saving the town hall. Then from there a little bit trecking back way I came to do the town building stuff which is a little bit fiddly and not overly well explained but you soon grasp the hang of it. Kinda useful in that you can essentially just build up a house almost ASAP instead of questing until someone bequeaths you with one. My main peeve is that they've changed a lot of the controls around (e.g VATS is now Q instead of V, F isn't the 1st/3rd person changer, in fact I don't know what is so I just have to scroll). I like the inventory pick-up, and there's nice touches like the changed HUD in the power armour. Apparently it supports DS4 native, so while it's kinda sacrilege I might go with that. Not my pic (I'll grab one later) but surprised to see some of the options available in the character creator: I'm playing as "Barbara Gordon" (which get's the greeting of "Mrs Gordon") with Femme Fatale hair and a splotch on my eye which is kinda neat look. While I'll unlikely play with him much (especially considering the first thing he does is somehow summon a bunch of enemies while I'm digging around for loot) the dog is useful early on if only cos you can crack open his rib cage and store all manner of spare guns and armour in him to carry. The armour pieces stuff I'd seen in some of the leaked video but it works different to how I'd thought, rather than build up a set of armour using the pieces, upgrade existing, you instead just apply them individually, which kinda sucks since you can't directly compare with a suit, but so far seems you get better DT off it.

I got Fallout 4 and GotG for a total of £22 so I'm happy (even if my GotG case was a bit cracked, but hey got a £3 refund)
-
It shows as 6 songs for me, only a meagre 16 minutes worth. I imagine a rights issue there? I'd have used a VPN so I could play this afternoon, but only just been shipped out by Amazon 10 minutes ago so doubt I'll be getting it today

Waiting for Fallout 4 to come out almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.

It's only a handful, I imagine someone will make a fuller playlist in time. Was just looking for something to while away a bit of the time. And I guess your platform choice is based on reports that the Xbone edition hits a whopping 0fps at times?

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2015/11/06/the-making-of-fallout-4.aspx Alright read. Multi-page article but fine enough length. Fallout 4 was developed on top of Skyrim, which means there's a build of Skyrim that runs on Xbox One. Destiny was their target mark for gun feel too, I imagine they won't hit it but I'll let you guys that have give an indicator of how well they've done. Given the launch trailer and how they're talking of developing story while they don't mention it I've a feeling they did draw upon New Vegas a fair bit in picking factions. Kinda weird New Vegas gets no nods at all, despite being formative for some elements of their game. I guess a soured relationship between the two? Kinda cool that the settlement computers would originally run Python. The more I see of it the more I'm loving that power armour. I normally don't bother with the heavy stuff, but in the old games it stretched and morphed where metal composite plates shouldn't. Bit like wool chainmail.

Someone had a lot of time on their hand.
