    Pokemon Go

I think removing the footprints is just to remove any potential confusion /while/ they fix it. What does suck is they took out the likes of Pokevision n such so yeah makes it a pain cos tbh I'm not wanting to be grasping around blind running around streets in circles. Yeah unsure on removing the battery saver on iOS. Given it's only on iOS they've done that and it still works on Android I'd guess it's a hardware issue with iPhones? In general they're just shit on communication front. While they maintained a big ARG with Ingress they still had a reputation of lack of communication on updates n such. Cynical side of me is thinking it's to shake off the more casual players, ease stress on the servers then all be fine with just the die-hards left. Personally I'm quite happy they've removed the "randomly spinning balls" bug cos that was infuriating. Otherwise I'm happy for gandering around on my usual walks with the added bonus of pokemon popping up.
  2. I bought Colin McRae on Google Play for 10p cos it's essentially using free money and my dad might enjoy giving it a spin.
  3. It's Yorkshire Day, so put kettle on.

  4. He's said he regrets the use of the word "exploit" and in line with it he reckons the "exploit"/"confusing design choice" would get you to the centre in about 12 hours. I imagine if he was to start afresh he could do that, given won't have the many hours of figuring out systems on top of that. He also reckons he's fully levelled up and mates with everyone too. And I'd agree 30 hours is sorta okay especially given it's essentially an indie game with a crap ton of procedural stuff so not like any quests or such to extend shit. Though far from the hundreds of hours postulated by Sean Murray to get to the centre. I suspect they likely haven't had any outsiders testing the game to end up with folks playing it outside of how Hello Games expect it to be played.
  5. Well, No Mans Sky has been beaten. Took about 2 days to do. The NMS Subreddit is going nuts. I'll happily grab this in a sale some point, but certainly nowhere near the "pinning all their life hopes and dreams onto the game". Saw a pretty good point someone made that it's a largely indie game with AAA marketing.
  6. I'm a few weeks behind on that from being away, figured at this point I'll save up n binge it on completion. But yeah that particular opening sequence was pretty damn great. It started to lose me a bit around episode 3 n 4, but certainly picked up with Quincannon "serving god" and eugene going places....

    Pokemon Go

If it's a rare pokemon that's when you want to be using your Great Balls and Ultra Balls. Pokemon would run away in the regular games too. I think it's fairly fine, rare pokemon aren't that rare, especially given in most cases you'll need to be catching multiples of them. I'm fairly fine with it, but I guess how I can see it's frustrating. The more frustrating element is the curveball bug that lets you waste dozens of great balls n ultra balls.
  8. Yeah I'm subscribed, pretty cool channel. My younger sister quite enjoys it too. Really neat to see how relatively simple it is to create some of these things from natural resources.
  9. Man everyone is banging on about this, might have to give it a watch. Though I had started on Bojack last night and I think atm I'm 5 episodes in. Sorta had it as vaguely backgroundy TV. Just funny having Gob as a horse mainly edit: Oh yeah I cancelled a bunch of subscription services start of this month. I guess I'll watch something else
  10. You know if you're gonna put up a copy of your [stolen\grey market\fradualent\whatever term folks use for "unauthorised game sales" these days] video of No Mans Sky up on Youtube with an alternative name to hide that it's No Mans Sky I'd maybe go all out. Call it "Red Dwarf: Rimmers Zimmer Swimmer" or something. Anywho will give this a watch in a bit. Or I guess sooner than later cos that name ain't fooling anyone and I'll likely find it goes all static midway through and F5 replaces it with "This video has been removed by Sony Computer Entertainment" or something. edit: So my first thoughts are this guy sucks at sound balancing Heh, being chased by a pineapple. I wonder if it starts you off on a fairly hostile planet to force you to go n get into the upgrading/collecting/building stuff early on before you can nip off and go space flying.

    World Politics

In more pleasant world politics than usual: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jul/28/norway-finland-move-mountain-halti-halditsohkka-highest-peak Norway is considering a mountain as a birthday gift for Finland. Be a good move for both, especially for PR n potential tourism, and a fairly small amount of Norwegian land at that, hardly prime real estate. Though of course on problem is that Finland doesn't exist.
  12. The Killing Joke It wasn't as bad as the poor trailer animation and the news of a new sequence having batgirl n batman in a relationship would make it out to be but it could have been better. The animation actually was pretty good for the most part, I think it might have spoiled it somewhat if it was BTAS style animation, which was much more cartoony and this is a far from cartoony batman story. However the batgirl <3 Batman arc they added in is a decent 1/3 of the whole thing and really drags itself out compared to the actual Killing Joke part. I think they'd have done better to have all that stuff removed, maybe just a montage of her n batman doing cases or something to set it up as being "she's batgirl not just Jims daughter", certainly no need to have awkward relationship troubles thrown in. Would have allowed them to flesh out the Killing Joke part some more, it goes by so fast otherwise. And while it's the same end as Killing Joke it feels like a weird place to end the film. Especially given how they'd changed the start of the film. There's no resolution to the Batgirl side of things in her becoming Oracle. Instead they build up this relationship then it's like "welp she's a cripple now, lets leave her in the hospital n have Batman and Joker having a laugh. Roll credits". Anywho, watch Batman: The Animated Series if you haven't. Brilliant cartoon, brilliant super hero series, brilliant VA, animation, all sorts. It's great. Pretty sure their Mr Freeze episode (which changed the comic book Mr Freeze too it was so good) won an award. Emmys I think for TV?

    Pokemon Go

Personally I've noticed that while locally I have the usual suspects, there's definitely been a tweak the last week or so towards a few rare/uncommon pokemon cropping up in neighbourhood. Horsea, Meowth, Electrode, Magnemite n such cropping up. (btw it's sort of a childish giddy to be able to be discussing the original 151, sure there's some interesting new ones but man is nostalgia on the originals strong. Heck just spotting the outline and knowing the names of them is sweet).

    Pokemon Go

It's not a bug, they've disabled the tracking for now to ease on server pressure. As it stands they can be unhappy with it but they've an open API they're using so stuff like this was bound to crop up to fill the gap.

    Pokemon Go

Oh yeah have folks been using this? https://pokevision.com/ Been a life saver since the "Nearby" function been disabled. And got me a few cool pokemon with it. Though it's also down with the Pokemon servers are down, and sometimes can be a bit finnicky but most of the time it's pretty spot on. Usefuly to have a tab open on your phone browser with it, especially if you get a rare pokemon pop up in "Nearby" and want a good idea of where to head. Let's you check out other spots too if you're curious on having an adventure away and want to know where is worthwhile.
  16. Yeah the destruction sequence, even though you know it's coming is still super tense. My only issue is the absolute extent of the damage done before they use the escape pods.
  17. Hmm, I've seemingly not played a single game from this year. So I guess for me it's the Witcher 3 expansions mainly.

    Pokemon Go

So who has gotten batteries then? My battery is showing its age, especially with more powerful phones. It charges at about 102% the rate my phone uses power(I can use the battery saver to reduce the amount my phone uses, but it turns off as soon as I start charging :/). Met a lad with a turbocharge battery today (which my phone handily supports) so really tempting to move my game up a bit. It's the size of a laptop battery mind Also noticed the local pokemon (the ones around the streets of my home) while still mostly pidgey/zubat/rattatta mix have started gaining magnemites, voltorbs n even a porygon the last few days too. I wonder if it's due to the concentration of players around here (we're otherwise somewhat limited on stops)
  19. Star Trek Beyond Apart from a really weirdly jarring edit of sorts, and really doubling down on the Beastie Boys Paradox this was pretty solid. Oh and not an issue with the movie per se but the little dip your heart does when Chekov is mentioned or on-screen :/ It had some nice touches on the whole "exploring new planets" n all that lot, with actual new things (well..there's a wee nod to Enterprise the show) rather than leaning on the lore of the old shows n movies. It tastefully dealt with Nimoys death too, and tied that in with Quinto-Spocks arc. Oh some of the music n SFX were great in it too, just love that "ping" sound they have n all the pew-pews. I also quite liked that they managed to use chekovs gun rather well too, they set up a lot of stuff that was things you could see in hindsight, which is better than the usual "here's the macguffin, put it in your bag" 1 hour of film passes "Wait, do you still have the macguffin in your bag!". Oh the opening is pretty great too. Probably better than the cold open of Into Darkness by a fair degree. I'm also liking the continuing Greg Gunberg cameos in JJ Abrhams projects. Minor spoiler on the jarring edit: Major spoiler: edit: Oh yeah Yorktown looks fucking amazing (though I agree with Bones' assessment of it )
  20. Heh I remember that. Wasn't on for long, but yeah pretty sweet. And for the time (and I guess cos not playing Total War) the army sim stuff looked quite good.

    Pokemon Go

You're probably gonna have to take day trips or find another game until they start adding new stops/gyms.
  22. Yeah, Amazonians are near immortal. WW especially as she's directly blessed with divine powers. Though we still don't know the DCU's take on her yet. I know post-Man of Steel the prevailing theory was they're Kryptonian colonists, which add in a yellow sun and you get pretty much same power set as Superman.
  23. Explain the 3 Defense items I just got from "Sterling Treasure" chests.
