So I've been playing a demo of this that appeared on the EU eshop last week, and I've really been enjoying it. The art style is fairly simple but charming and its really addictive. You tap the touch screen along to the shiz happening on the top screen. The demo has Man With The Machine Gun from Final Fantasy VIII (that's the battle theme when your playing as Laguna) and Final Fantasy XIII's Sunleth Waterscape's background music (which is another arrangement of The Promise the game's main vocal theme). Both great tracks. So there's Battle sequences where its you tapping to the music while a party fights enemies Field sequences where your character is waltzing through some some scenery and Event sequences were its basically movie scenes from various Final Fantasies Andd some kind of opening and ending to each Final Fantasy that requires tapping a crystal. There's also some kind of equip system and some stuff which is cool. DAY ONE NEXT WEEK BABY RELEASE!

Some groups of people will act like you are killing babies when you criticise the decline of some Japanese titles. The amount of hate Phil Fish got for an out of context sarcastic comment about modern Japanese games sucking was nothing short of silly. I still love Japanese developed games. Some of my favourites this generation like No More Heroes, Xenoblade, Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, The Worlds Ends With You, but I think there's definitely been a decline in the main games in some Japanese franchises. There is something that happened in this leap to the current generation to many Japanese studios. Some have absolutely thrived, finding an audience they never had in the previous generation whilst others have kind of been spinning their wheels, producing titles a lot slower and the ones they do release are of a clear decline in quality compared to the releases they made during the PS2 era. Resident Evil 5 is a weird one. Any atmosphere that Resident Evil 4 had was gone, and the co-op and bizarre inventory changes did not help the game. It turned into an simply an action title, and Resident Evil 6 looks to be going even further in that direction. It was a good game but the lofty heights of acclaim that Resi 2 and Resi 4 got was gone. Final Fantasy XIII I don't even know where to start. Where do you start? Some people do like it. I haven't played a more disappointing title this generation. Ok lets not talk about its quality, but the very fact that it took a demo release to actually start properly developing the game is scary. Like, how does development work like that? They were just making random landscapes and then when it finally came to release a demo they thought 'fuck we better stitch all these landscapes together somehow and come up with a story'.

How have people found using Wiimotes and Classic Controllers and the like on Windows 7 with bluetooth? I know there's different programmes for them, what works best?

Saw Avengers on Sunday, holy shit, what a fantastic film. Thrilling, entertaining, funny, perfect summer blockbuster but deep enough for hardcore fans to enjoy. Fantastic performances, never runs out of steam....Joss Whedon done good. What an utter triumph. Comparing this to the Transformers series.... one of them is genuinely funny without resorting to stupid racial and toilet humour to get a laugh, entertaining with a focus on the characters that the film is supposed to be about, and actually elicits emotions from people. The other is Transformers.

So I'm starting back in the gym after 3 months, got an assessment tomorrow, had a great workout yesterday, I still haven't worked out my diet yet though, I tend to eat 3 large meals a day and I've really got to get used to eating small portions more often.

well I haven't played enough of The Last Story to really get a proper feel for it. I feel Xenoblade just does everything it sets out to brilliantly, the music, the exploration, the characters, the setting, the sense of truly being in a massive world. I just can't see Last Story, from what I've played, topping it. And Last Story is quite enjoyable don't get me wrong, its got a really unique approach to combat and the story may top Xenoblade but...Xenoblade just does everything perfect. Not a single part of that game is half baked. I'm 193 hours into it by the way, but I've tried to do EVERYTHING and I've left the game paused a few too many times I suppose. But I absolutely love it to pieces. If a sequel is Wii U bound, or coming out launch day then....I would kill someone, in front of THEIR OWN MOMMA JUST TO GET IT.

I think the problem is making a mistake. You could do it wrong and pressing up would have the character jumping. It would fuck your shit up so bad. The other problem with a special button is that if you mess up is how much itll cost you. You mess up a shorykuen and youll maybe do a punch. Then its back to business. But with a designated special button, youd have to put something there that wouldnt delay you too much. I just think its difficult to get comfortable with a button that has a versatile identity. It would be too risky and it wouldnt offer too much payoff. At least thats how I see it. There are plenty of moves that use Up already in their button combination though and there's plenty of moves that combine only a movement and a button. It wouldn't be more risky then I doing any other button inputs.

I guess it could just be another input for a move like in Blazblue. I'm not saying at all that it has to be limited at all though, there's multiple ways to simplify inputs so its comfortable for a controller, or just easier to perform. Maybe I'm wrong and its a key part of whatever Fighting game people like, but I see it as a barrier of entry to even the simplest fighting games. Maybe I'm wrong though and the button inputs being hard to perform on a controller is there for a good reason. lets take Ryu from Street Fighter X Tekken. He has 5 special moves btw. Shoryuken Forward, Down, Diagonal Forward, Punch, and to do the EX its two punches. You could have it be Up and Special to do the normal Shoryuken, and Up and Special and another button to do the EX version.

No, not at all. Blazblue has a 'drive button' that worked a little like that, but it still had all the different inputs that Street Fighter and the like has.

So what, only 4 special, and the specials wouldn't be based on punching, kicking, range, or power? Do you think such a simple game would be fun? I think that would work well in something more like a brawler. No, I'm not saying its limited to 4 specials, there are various ways to put more in maybe tap a direction twice or something. As for no specials being based on punch and the like, where did I say that? What's wrong with having a fighting game be accessible on a controller?

Yes I am! I started a new character, going through 1-1, 2-1, and now on 3-1, gonna finish it before the servers go offline. I didn't get that far before.

A proper fleshed out single player. If its on console then its simple, no quarter circle or whatever bullshit, give us a special move button and from that with direction inputs let us do special moves.

That'll happen again no doubt. What'll be worse is when gaming websites don't check the thing properly and post about it. its a good thing the money is never charged till its the kickstarted is over. How do you guys feel about Yogventures? So the Yogscast guys are getting Winterkewl Games, an indie studio to develop it....it seems to me though, this is easily the kind of project that could easily just go over budget or just fall through due to bad planning or whatever.
