  1. Deals on pretty much all the Bethesda games over on GamersGate. http://www.gamersgate.com/games?prio=relevance&q=bethesdaweekend I have to say 15$ Skyrim is very fucking tempting. I'd been holding out for the complete version (and the Legendary Edition looks to be coming out next month) but... 15$!
  2. Ha, that makes two of us. It kinda made me cringe a little bit. Anyway, just beat Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. It was fucking fantastic, even if the story is really short. I spent a lot of time doing everything there was to do on the island, though, so it took me around 10 hours overall and I still got probably another hour or two if I want to go back and get the last few achievements. Also, while the story was gloriously stupid and amazing, I actually enjoyed the gameplay a great deal as well. So now I really want to play Far Cry 3. But I don't have the 50 bucks to drop on it right now, so that sucks.
  3. Finally broke down and got all the Just Cause 2 DLC while it was on sale this week. I've been tempted every single time it went on sale. I got it this time because I've made myself an "objective list" for my backlog over the summer, and JC2 is a priority on it. Also, Humble Double Fine Bundle. Not exactly a stellar one, but I got it for Brutal Legend and on the off-chance that they add The Cave as a bonus later on.
  4. Lol. Looks like Ubisoft fired Désilets. Dude must be so fucking pissed.

What's the over/under on the number of days until Desilets has a project up on Kickstarter?

  5. Oh, I see. I didn't realize PhysX was more than just the fancy dynamic cloth, smoke, debris, etc effects. Thanks for the info.
  6. PhysX in general doesn't require a Nvidia card. Only very specific PhysX stuff does. Now that you mention it, I remember reading that there are ways to kinda brute force it into working on AMD cards or something along those lines. Is that what you mean?
  7. Maybe not exactly what you're talking about, but off the top of my head, the way the cutscene at the beginning of MGS4 just seamlessly zoomed in on Snake and the HUD appeared, that blew me away the first time. Also, the entire opening section of God of War III was pretty amazing, especially after years of hype.
  8. Went to see Iron Man 3 tonight. I was originally not planning on seeing it in theaters, but my friends convinced me to go with them. Really glad I changed my mind. It was... really fucking good. I liked the first two films, but I thought they both had some really weak parts. Both of them lost my interest somewhere in the middle. But this one was paced so perfectly that I never really noticed its length. It's not only the best out of all three Iron Man films, I think it might actually be the best (excluding The Avengers, obviously) out of all the Marvel movies since they started the shared universe. I heard some people really didn't like the "twist" (my friend included), but I never saw it coming and thought it was pretty funny so it didn't bother me at all. I was mostly just surprised that they decided to go that way.
  9. Well isn't that an AMD tech? Kinda like how you can't buy a Radeon card and expect PhysX to work.
  10. Yeah, I can't really explain it but I started playing UN after finishing RDR and I just kinda stopped after an hour or two and never picked it up again. That was about two years ago, I think. I was actually thinking of giving it another shot this summer. Haven't bought a new PS3 game in a while so I feel like I could get through that backlog once and for all if I put my mind to it.
  11. That's true of pretty much any weapon. The idea is that, unlike firearms, a bow is completely silent. You still have to go for a kill shot...
  12. More gameplay. Just starting it now so I can't say whether it's good or what.
  13. Started playing Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Not very far into it but so far it is glorious. You know you're in for something truly special when the first mission has an NPC hacking something and saying amazing lines such as: "I recoded the CPU socket!" and "Recompiling the motherboard!"
  14. I really need to get this as well.
  15. If some little known blog is to be believed, Bioware now owns the Space Marine IP. COME ON!

  16. Holy shit, just tried out Blood Dragon and... my system froze about 5mins in. That's when I noticed my GPU was at 99C. This hot weather fucking sucks... It's probably full of dust, too, since it's kinda hard to clean it out during the winter. I'll do that tomorrow and hopefully that'll bring it back down to non-melty levels.

  17. I agree with the general sentiment that the cover shouldn't matter. But, seriously, that is one retardedly horrible cover. It wouldn't have stopped me from getting the game or affected how much I was willing to pay for it, but let's just say I'm really glad I own it on Steam...
  18. Damn, in my anticipation for the new episodes, I may have started rewatching Arrested Development a bit too early. I already finished all three seasons and there's still a month to go until the new one. :(

  19. The two-pack is currently 7$ on GMG and with a voucher it came to a bit under 6$. I'm aware of the reputation these games have, but I've played their demos a while back and they seemed okay to me. I've been meaning to get them for a while but they just never seemed to get a deal good enough for me to risk it. edit: Turns out I got some financial aid for May even though my classes are over and all I have left are finals. So without lunches and a bus pass to buy, I ended up with quite a bit of extra cash which allowed me to make a long overdue purchase. Not strictly gaming related, but let's face it, that thing is going to get filled with Steam games in no time. I've been keeping an eye on the WD caviar black series for a while and I don't think I've ever seen a 2TB at such a good price (160$ before taxes, basically a 100$ discount). Sure will be nice to finally have some breathing room again. I've been on my current drive's last 100GBs for something like 2 years now, always having to delete a bunch of stuff whenever I buy a new game or download too many movies. edit2: Man, GMG are having awesome deals. Another 2-pack. 5 bucks after voucher. I loved the hell out of both games when I played them on PS2. Been meaning to get Bully for a while to try out the extra content and Manhunt was a rental so I never finished it. Was really tempted to get them during the Rockstar week-end Steam just had. So fucking glad I decided not to. Oh, almost forgot but I also grabbed this. Fun times ahead. As soon as finals are over...
  20. Up until now I've been kind of disappointed by how I'm anticipating this nowhere near as much as I did Heavy Rain. But this trailer really did it for me. Much better than the previous ones.
  21. I really need to get back to that game. It didn't really grab me early on and I just kinda stopped playing.
  22. R1 was definitely the better game, but I really loved the silliness of R2. It felt like a comic book in some ways. Having played them recently, I wouldn't say you should necessarily skip the first one. It's very repetitive and rough around the edges, and some of that dialogue is downright painful but there's some fun to be had with it. Also, it's only about 5 hours long and provides some backstory that will allow you to get a bit more out of The Second Runner's story.
  23. Why not just remove the Enemy Unknown part of the title and have one big "everything XCOM" thread? Anyway, that trailer is awesome, but man I'm getting sick of the live-action stuff. If you're unveiling something, show some fucking gameplay! Keep the live-action stuff for later. If it's actually coming out in August, then they should have something to show...
  24. Yeah, I loved the Vegas games. It really wasn't the same Rainbow Six but they were fun as hell.
  25. I have to say I'm a bit meh on the switch to third-person. I much prefer the first-person POV. But still, I won't be so quick to dismiss it. If it's actually as tactical as they claim, it could be pretty great. Then again, if it is, it sounds like they're trying to make it as much like EU as possible, which kinda makes me wonder why. This game should be its own thing, not just trying to ape EU because it was successful. But anyway, the only thing I hope now is that, if they insist it's in the same universe as the XCOM:EU, then that it doesn't feel too stylistically different. This had kind of a unique look last time we saw it while XCOM:EU looks a tad more... cartoony, I guess? But still, more XCOM and it's coming out soonish. Can't complain.
