  1. I want them to bring back the ketchup ones. They were the best.
  2. Yeah, I grabbed it when it came out on GOG. It wasn't bad but I had a hard time getting into it. Only played the first few missions.
  3. On sale for 5$ on GMG + 20% off voucher = 4$. It's Origin but I've wanted to try it for a while as it looks like the kind of game I'd really enjoy. Of course, now I have to reinstall Origin... Oh god, I didn't think this through!
  4. http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/04/24/xcom-shooter-reveal-coming-soon?abthid=5177bc5492b473ef1f000005 This sounds a lot like the game is still set in the XCOM universe. It's all kinda vague so I'm not taking it as a confirmation but it's to be unvealed soon so we'll see.
  5. Lol. Good one.
  6. Well, considering the mass exodus there was back then, and the current regulars, I doubt it would be as much of an issue anymore. I'm curious, though. Back then, were you able to see whether people had edited their posts? I always figured it must've been visible to admins and such regardless.
  7. Used to be like that in the early days of this place. It was great. But for some reason Dean removed it (or at least I assume it was Dean's decision). Been missing that feature ever since.
  8. Ooooh yeah! Cap is gone, back on unlimited bandwidth. Time to really see what this 15Mbps connection can do!

Also, the unlimited thing is something they actually reintroduced only a couple months ago. I stuck with my slow connection for this long because no one offered unlimited anymore around here, but for some legal reason they couldn't just take it away from us. They did keep bugging us to "upgrade", though.

Bell!! This fall I switched my cell phone to Telus, and Bell tried to tell me I was on a contract. But I wasn't! They were all snooty and french about it too. Bastards!

  10. Yeah. Most of my edits would be done within that time window. Beyond that, I should just learn to fucking proofread what I write.
  11. I am... probably going to double dip on this. At least if the price is reasonable. I just can't say no to Metal Gear. I think that would make my third or fourth purchase of MGS1 through 3.
  12. Wait, you can edit without having the "edited on..." message? I hate that message. I constantly edit my posts for typos and such. Stupid mod with your stupid mod privileges!
  13. That was on Amazon. For some reason, Ubisoft don't want their games available on GMG for NA. It's kind of annoying. :/
  14. The part of your comment I took issue with was I just don't see how the game getting killed would benefit anyone. It might make angry fans feel vindicated but seriously, who cares about that. I'm with you on the rebranding being good for the game, though, but only because it probably doesn't need to be an XCOM title and at this point, it would probably suffer from the brand more than anything. But I'd be fine with the existence of an XCOM shooter, personally. There's been one before. As long as the series itself isn't becoming a shooter (and most of the initial outrage stemmed from that exact fear), then I would welcome a shared universe across different genres. And the funny thing is, when they first announced the shooter, EU was already well into development at Firaxis.
  15. Yeah, it's good but something just hasn't clicked for me either. I felt the same way about Era Vulgaris, actually. It had some really good tracks but I didn't like it anywhere near as much as Songs for the Deaf.
  16. I knew a new album was on the way but I hadn't realized there was a single out. Pretty good.
  17. Thanks for pointing that out. I own Serious Sam 3 but Steam never notified me that I got the coupon. Got 3 of them, for some reason.
  18. So, we went back to our old cable provider. The tech came in today and while he wasn't supposed to do anything to the internet (same company but we're using an old unlimited plan that they no longer offer to new accounts) it seems he did change it. I'm now getting 15Mbps, Steam is currently downloading an update at 2MB/s. I could get used to this. It also looks like we don't have a cap either. I'm skeptical but if that's the case, then I am very happy.

Yup, figured as much. Fucking tech lied to our faces. We have a 75GB limit now, and it's 2$/GB we go over, up to 80GB. Fucking bullshit.

Given the option I will never, ever buy a connection with a cap.

Hmm, meant up to 80$ in that previous comment. Re-reading it now makes it sound not as bad as it actually is. Anyway, yeah, which is why I was so wary of changing anything but it wasn't my call... But it looks like since we now get all three services from them (cable, phone and internet) that we might qualify for a new unlimited thing they introduced a couple months ago. Only 10$ extra per month. I'll definitely be looking into that.

  19. Tried to start Knife of Dunwall the other night, but as soon as I started the first mission I quickly remembered how Dishonored was and how much fun I had taking my time to explore and remain undetected. So I decided that right now I don't really have enough free time to properly enjoy it. Once finals are over in a few weeks, I'll give it the time it deserves. It took me almost a month to play through Dishonored for the same reason, and I feel like my enjoyment of the game suffered a bit from being stretched over such a long period of time. So instead, i've been playing Trials Evolution Gold whenever I have some free time. Goddamn that game is fantastic. I'm starting to run into some seriously difficult tracks but it's just so insanely fun. I'm usually wary of paying upwards of 10$ for smaller games like this, I'll only occasionally take the plunge on a 15$ title. But this one was worth every cent of the 20$ I paid for it.
  20. Meh, I wasn't trying to call him an idiot or anything. I just think it's a pointless attitude to have.
  21. That's kind of a stupid attitude, imho. Sure, it was disappointing that they were turning XCOM into an FPS, but now that a proper XCOM has come out, I wouldn't mind getting the shooter. The original gameplay they showed had a nice visual style to it. At this point, it probably has nothing to do with what they showed back then, though.
  22. Eh, if they never knew you were there then it still counts. That's how I played most of them. Non-lethal and undetected. A bit more difficult to pull off in Conviction, but that game was super easy anyway, so it was a welcome challenge.
  23. To be honest, the shooting isn't all that great in Infinite either. I wouldn't go as far as some people and claim that it's outright bad. It's just never been the series' main strength. It's.. serviceable. The customization is better in the original, though. And that makes combat a bit more interesting. And then you throw in the photography mini-game. Infinite's combat feels a bit more bare bones in comparison.
  24. Yeah, I was kinda disappointed when I realized half the tracks weren't new. I still like it, though. I'll probably get sick of it pretty quickly but I really like his sound (the whole 80s action movie soundtrack vibe) so for now I'm enjoying it.
  25. I don't think the original BioShock is dated at all. Might not look as great as more recent titles, but honestly, who gives a shit about graphics. Also, the original has pretty much ruined water effects in games for me. Now, whenever I can walk through water falling down, I have to look up. In most games, you basically just clip through a flat texture with an animation on it, and as you look up it's like you're standing in the middle of a sheet of paper or something and it kills the illusion right there. In BioShock, your vision gets all blurry and filled with water. Small detail but a really nice touch, imho. And it's a damn good one! My heart almost jumped out of my chest. It was awesome. I didn't find the original to be scary at all, though. Creepy? Maybe a bit. But every time someone talks about how scary they thought it was, they just sound like huge pussies.
