The time has finally come: I'm upgrading my PS3's HDD. I found a nice 320 GB on Amazon.ca, but it's 7200 RPM and I hear that that *might* increase the risk of overheating. Is anyone here running a 7200 RPM in their PS3? Any advice?

As for compatibility, I'm pretty sure that as long as it's ATA and 2.5 inch (laptop), then it's fine.

I have a 500Gb 7200rpm HD in my PS3. My previous PS3 was having issues where it would shut itself off, but I believe it was due to the console itself being faulty, not the HD. I have been using that HD again in my current PS3, and haven't encountered any issues since I bought the PS3 a few months ago. I have put in some longer game sessions with the ICO collection and Dark Souls and haven't noticed any overheating issues.

I have a 7200 RPM, no real issues with overheating. I actually have a 320 as well (from my old laptop). Gotta say, its real nice having that space in the hard drive.

Hell yes! Just got my shipping notice for Uncharted 3! Now fingers crossed that it gets here tomorrow!
