Haha for sure. But honestly, I didn't mind the dentist that much. I hadn't been to one in over a decade and for the past few weeks I've been having pain so intense it kept me up at night. So it's actually a huge relief to have that fucking demon tooth out of my mouth!

Maybe if you'd gone to the dentist you wouldn't have had the demon tooth in the first place. :P

Really, now? That's your tactic? Using logic with a guy who thinks there was a demon in his tooth? Some lawyer you must be! :P

  2. Funny you should say that. I recently watched the movie adaptation of All-Star Superman (pretty sure I posted about it in one of the movie threads) and thought it was.... weird. It wasn't bad, that's for sure. But it was certainly the strangest Superman story I'd ever experienced. My favorite still remains Geoff Johns' Secret Origin, though. But to be honest, my experience with Superman comics has been really hit or miss. And unlike Batman, I mostly stuck to stand-alone miniseries, soI haven't read a whole lot of Superman that wasn't just a retelling of his origin story. That's the main problem with having a 700+ issues series. You don't know where the fuck to start reading, and it sure as shit won't be at #1.
  3. Damn, that kind of explains why choice was so limited when I started shopping around for my ps3 hdd... Couldn't even find a 5400 rpm at the size I wanted. Also explains why prices were higher than I remembered. I'd looked at notebook hdds before and I remembered them to cost around 50-60$. But I ended up having to pay 90$ (shipping included). I figured that as unlikely as it seemed, perhaps I had been looking at recertified drives all along without realizing it. This makes more sense. Luckily, the hdd was a gift so I didn't pay for it with my own money. Pretty sure I have the same drive. Even almost three years ago it still only cost me about 160$. This is insane.
  4. Woo! Got my new HDD and my shit is being restored. In two hours, my PS3 will be just as it was, only with about 200 additional GBs of free space :D

      Yeah, that's pretty much it.

And yeah, I was long overdue for the upgrade. My 80GB has been pretty much full for over a year now, so whenever I had to download something larger than a gb or two, I needed to delete something :(

Same here. I had an 80GB, but some time ago I switched to a 250GB HDD. I think I still have 100GB to go too.

    4. WTF

      WTF

@kenshi it also depends on your make. In some models you when you switch the HDDs you will need a usb or a usb hdd with the latest firmware patch (in the same directory structure as the patch would be think it's PS3/PATCH/ if memory serves me right).

  5. Toki Tori is awesome, but it made me feel real stupid real quick because I did not get very far into it before running into levels that made me go "how the fuck am I supposed to do this?!"
  6. Got curious as I'd never even heard of this. Looked it up and it seemed interesting so I went to look for a demo and saw it was only 2,50$. I just took the plunge and bought it. Glad I did, cool little puzzler. So, thanks, I guess!
  7. Impulse bought this on PSN today. The original MK is an absolute piece of shit of a game, but holy crap am I having a blast playing it! Nostalgia is a very powerful thing. Also, strangely, I am kind of enjoying the simplicity of having each character have only 2 special moves.
  8. Jack! Long time you no see but now back is good! edit: wow. I think I was drunker than I realized when I typed that last night lol
  9. Yeah, that really sucks. I went back to replay some chapters today, to try and find some more treasures before starting my hard run. And I couldn't find any way to buy skins or unlock guns or whatever. That was really cool in Uncharted 2.
  10. it's not that I don't like it. I don't mind, really. I'm just not very good at making them. They usually end up looking... weird. I kinda wish I could post a screenshot of my attempt at making a femshep on PS3. My friend let out a very loud "WHAT THE FUCK" when I showed him. I just don't have the eye for detail necessary to match facial features that go well together. Also, in the case of Mass Effect, it just feels to me like default Shepard is the "real" one.
  11. I kept the default name and face for my main run. I only make custom characters when I have no choice. Like in Dragon Age: Origins. I'm planning on eventually doing a custom femshep and try to go a more renegade way, but my main Shepard is the guy on the box.
  12. Yeah, that's the capra demon. I somehow missed that area completely at first and was something like level 50 when I stumbled upon it, so it was a pretty damn easy fight for me. And I don't know what level you are, but the butterfly killed me the first time only because I had no idea what I was doing (and had no ranged weapon, so I figured I was screwed anyway). But it's actually pretty easy to beat.
  13. Still haven't been able to get the PC version to not crash as soon as I launch it, but I should be getting my new HDD this week, so I should be able to play on PS3 after all
  14. Started playing Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit a couple of days ago. Really loving it so far. Though it can be damn frustrating when you can't seem to shave off those last few seconds off your time for the gold Also, some of the modes are kinda boring. I mean, it's fine that as a racer you don't always get chased. I can understand why they would put regular races in there. But why the hell do I have to do what are basically time trials when I'm playing as a a cop?!
  15. I wouldn't say it's watered-down; certainly not as a whole. It's just giving players more options. Yeah, exactly. I much prefer them offering different ways to play the game rather than just streamlining the shit out of it like they did Mass Effect 2. They should feel free to add an "action mode" for idiots who think the game should be less RPG and more shooty as long as it doesn't diminishes the "proper" mode.
  16. That's some pretty diverse game preferences there... That's a side-effect of his medication.
  17. The offer only applies if you buy a whole year. But the time stacks so if you think you'll end up renewing it anyway and you have the money there's really no reason not to do it. Ah okay, thanks for pointing that out. And yeah, I know the time stacks, but I really can't justify dropping another 50 bucks on this right now.
  18. I did exactly that with this month's games. Didn't want to download Hydrophobia right away, but at least it's been "redeemed". I've been a member for less than a month and I already feel like it was absolutely worth it. I saved 10% on Code Veronica HD and I already got something like 5 free games that actually interested me. Also, the feature to have your PS3 turn on on its own and download any updates, upload your saves to cloud storage and sync your trophies is just amazing. That really should be a basic feature of the PS3 and not just for Plus subscribers, but I guess they need to add as much value to it as possible if they want people to actually subscribe. Kinda sucks that I missed out on free Jurassic Park by only a couple of weeks, though. Now I'm tempted to grab an additional three months just for it, which would be kinda stupid...
  19. The time has finally come: I'm upgrading my PS3's HDD. I found a nice 320 GB on Amazon.ca, but it's 7200 RPM and I hear that that *might* increase the risk of overheating. Is anyone here running a 7200 RPM in their PS3? Any advice?

As for compatibility, I'm pretty sure that as long as it's ATA and 2.5 inch (laptop), then it's fine.

I have a 500Gb 7200rpm HD in my PS3. My previous PS3 was having issues where it would shut itself off, but I believe it was due to the console itself being faulty, not the HD. I have been using that HD again in my current PS3, and haven't encountered any issues since I bought the PS3 a few months ago. I have put in some longer game sessions with the ICO collection and Dark Souls and haven't noticed any overheating issues.

I have a 7200 RPM, no real issues with overheating. I actually have a 320 as well (from my old laptop). Gotta say, its real nice having that space in the hard drive.

  20. Uncharted 3. Overall pretty amazing game. It's better on a technical level and gameplay-wise (melee combat is an absolute blast), but I think I still find Uncharted 2 to be more entertaining. I think I'll let it sink in for a couple of days and post a more in-depth impression in the Uncharted thread.
  21. So, tried to give it a shot earlier, and after waiting something like 20mins for steam to perform "first launch setup", I got to the launcher, created an account, clicked on "Start Game" only for the whole thing to crash in my face. Four times in a row. That's when I said "Fuck this shit" and logged off Steam. The end.
  22. Yeah, I checked a few times yesterday and earlier today and it wasn't there. Seems to have been added tonight.
  23. While everyone else and their mom are playing DCU Online (seriously, like half my friend list was playing it earlier!), I'm playing this because there's no way in hell I can free up 14 GBs on my PS3 and the Steam install is only 36% done I've actually wanted to try it for the longest time (especially now with my current DC craze, thanks to Arkham City and the comic DCU reboot). I came close to buying it retail a few times, but never did. Then it came out on PSN this week for 20$. I was kind of on the fence, but last month Sony had that "spend 60$ on the PSN and get 10$ back in november" weird promo and today I got my 10$ voucher. So I played the full game trial and after the hour was up I still wanted to play, so I used my free 10 bucks and only paid 9,99$ for it!
  24. So, yeah. No way I could free up 14GBs on my PS3, not without upgrading HDD (which I'm long overdue to do). So for now it's PC for me. Yesterday the regular version disappeared from Steam, so I wasn't sure if it was going to be available there, but it showed up today. Downloading it right now but probably won't be able to play it until friday.
