  1. While everyone else and their mom are playing DCU Online (seriously, like half my friend list was playing it earlier!), I'm playing this because there's no way in hell I can free up 14 GBs on my PS3 and the Steam install is only 36% done I've actually wanted to try it for the longest time (especially now with my current DC craze, thanks to Arkham City and the comic DCU reboot). I came close to buying it retail a few times, but never did. Then it came out on PSN this week for 20$. I was kind of on the fence, but last month Sony had that "spend 60$ on the PSN and get 10$ back in november" weird promo and today I got my 10$ voucher. So I played the full game trial and after the hour was up I still wanted to play, so I used my free 10 bucks and only paid 9,99$ for it!
  2. So, yeah. No way I could free up 14GBs on my PS3, not without upgrading HDD (which I'm long overdue to do). So for now it's PC for me. Yesterday the regular version disappeared from Steam, so I wasn't sure if it was going to be available there, but it showed up today. Downloading it right now but probably won't be able to play it until friday.
  3. Yeah, I'm pretty sure Nightwing's only playable in the challenge rooms, not in the main story. I just grabbed it but haven't downloaded it yet. I was coming out of a marathon session of riddler trophy/challenge hunting (only one of the fuckers left!), so I wasn't in a hurry to install it. I figured I'd just start the download, turn off the PS3 and let PlayStation Plus do its thing while I sleep. I paid 50$ for the damn service, the least it can do is download and install my shit while I'm away Plus, I had a bunch of stuff queued up. Grabbed ME2: Arrival and got a bunch of free games from PS+. Oh, and the full game trial for MK vs DC, too! I've wanted to try it for the longest time. Anyway, if my copy of Uncharted 3 gets here late (or not at all ), then I'll probably dig into the challenge room stuff and give Nightwing a try tomorrow. If I do, I'll post my impressions.
  4. Yeah, my logic for not blowing it up wasn't that we could use their tech. It was that we could study it to find out as much as possible about the Reapers.
  5. Hell yes! Just got my shipping notice for Uncharted 3! Now fingers crossed that it gets here tomorrow!

  6. This. Also, I was picking up riddler trophies last night and actually found a Batman one that, as far as I could tell, can only be reached by Catwoman. I'm not against the whole online pass thing, but seriously, if you're going to use it for single-player content, then at the very fucking least don't use it for content necessary to get 100% completion on the base game. The Catwoman chapters really don't add a whole lot to the story and can be skipped. Her trophies and content have their own progress section in the stats menu and don't affect Batman's completion %. But Batman has trophies he can't fucking reach himself? That's bullshit. Which one was that? I have nearly all the Batman trophies and so far I haven't needed Catwoman to reach any of his. It was in the Museum, but I actually went back with Catwoman today and once I was there I saw how Batman could've reached the spot Catwoman's way was just way more obvious.
  7. Well, at least it's truer role-play this way. Shepard didn't know Cerberus would turn on him in the future, so he shouldn't have been acting based on that information. That's true, but now I feel like a sucker!

  9. Wait, what? Cerberus wants to kill you in ME3? Wish I'd known that before ending this run, damnit! Wouldn't have been so nice to them and sure as shit wouldn't have given them the Collector's station! Up to this point, like Strangelove, I didn't hate Illusive Man. The only aspect of Cerberus I didn't agree with was how their operations are all separate and generally unsupervised, which can lead to shit like (Overlord spoiler) But other than that, I could get behind the whole pro-humans things, so long as it doesn't get all racist and anti-aliens.
  10. Yeah, pretty sure we're talking about the same thing.
  11. Well, shit. Amazon.ca charged my credit card yesterday but my Uncharted 3 order still says "Shipping Soon". Now I won't be able to get anything done until I get that shipping notice. Just gonna sit here staring at the order details, occasional hitting F5 and humming this...

That would be cool, but I'm not too sure about that. I always take free shipping, so sometimes it takes a few days for them to process it, even more when I pre-order at the last minute. I got Dark Souls a whole week late.

Though I did pre-order Uncharted 3 a couple of months ago, so there is hope!

Ohhh, I went with the release date shipping for BF3. Yeah, I dunno, sounds like they'll ship it on the day of release then.

I'd like ATMs a bit more if I could withdraw amounts that weren't in increments of 10 or even 20

  12. Well I just finished my PS3 run and managed to keep everyone alive. So, yay! Now all that's left is to buy Arrival and get ready for ME3.
  13. Alright so recently I got to do something I don't get to do very often, and it ended up biting me in the ass. That something is going into a movie blindly. I recently heard of a movie called Catfish and it was referred to as "the scariest movie of 2010", which immediately got my attention because we're in october and that always puts me in a horror mood. So I decided to not check up plot summaries or trailers and just go in blind and be surprised. It's something you generally don't get to do very often these days what with the internet and youtube and all that. Holy shit, I could not have picked a worst movie for that. The thing about Catfish is, if you watch a trailer (which I only did after having seen the actual movie) they'll be selling you a thriller. And then movie critics, for reasons I can't even begin to comprehend, perhaps in an attempt to appear clever or some shit, decided that the movie was scary and what we end up with is a whole lot of misdirection and, frankly, lies. The movie actually starts out very intriguing and me and my friend who I'd convinced to watch it with me were enjoying it a lot. It wasn't scary, but it was very intriguing and mysterious and there was definitely potential for it to become scary. But then about halfway through it takes a turn that..... well, without spoiling the plot, just makes the whole thing very boring and anticlimatic. Don't let anyone make you think otherwise: this is NOT a scary movie. And not in the sense that it fails at being scary. No. It's just not that kind of movie. I don't know if it was actually crap... There's probably something to enjoy in there, I guess. It's not like it's a poorly made movie. But it was so misleading and ultimately disappointing... that it ended up doing little more than pissing us off. And it's not like this was because I decided to go in blind either, since I would've had the same kind of expectations had I decided to watch a trailer before watching the movie. So, yeah, in short: fuck Catfish!
  14. Finally got around to watching All-Star Superman a few days ago. It had been sitting on my hdd for a while now so it was either watch it or delete it. I'm not really sure how I feel about it. It wasn't great, but I don't think it was bad either. It was just... weird.
  15. I'm really liking the new Action Comics so far, but the proper Superman #1 didn't do much for me. So far my favorites of the new 52 are Justice League, Green Lantern, Action Comics and most of the Batman ones (as in Detective Comics, Batman, Batman & Robin, Batman: The Dark Knight, Nightwing, etc...) Aquaman and Flash aren't bad, either.
  16. A few weeks ago, EA sent me a 25% off coupon to use on Origin for my birthday. Some of you might remember I was considering getting NFS: Hot Pursuit. I ultimately decided against it. Fast forward to just now: for some kind of Halloween promo, EA sent me another Origin code. The email says they sent out codes randomly for 10%, 20%, 30% or 40%. I tried mine out of curiosity and it turned out to be 20%. Then i decided to try and see if I couldn't work this to my advantage. First, I added Hot Pursuit (PS3) to my cart and redeemed the Halloween code. This dropped the price from 29,99$ to 23,99$. Add the 6,99$ shipping charge and the game still comes to a little over 30$. Then I redeemed the 25% code from my birthday, and this added a 6$ discount, effectively cancelling out the shipping charge. Did not expect the codes would stack, but they did. So, the short version: It sucks that the codes don't work on pre-orders, as that would've made for a pretty cheap Mass Effect 3. But still, not a bad deal!
  17. So a friend of mine got me all pumped up about drinking tonight, and then at the last fucking minute decided he was tired and not doing anything tonight. So it's friday night and I'm sitting here drinking beer alone in my room like an idiot!

I'm so guilty of being that guy at times. I've even bailed on shows I've had tickets for, and just sold them for cheap in the streets and went home. I apologize on your friend's behalf.

  18. So, earlier I was collecting more Riddler stuff and I decided I was sick of aimlessly wandering around in hopes of stumbling on the next part of the Identity theft side-mission. It was the only side-mission I had left to complete and I wanted it over with so I looked it up online and went on with it. And it turned out to be quite the awesome coincidence because
  19. Well I spent most of that time reading through Hush. Read the whole thing in a single sitting. I think it just might've dethroned The Long Halloween as my favorite Batman story. I also read some of the new 52 stuff like Flash and Aquaman. I've been downloading all the new 52 issues as they came out, but haven't really had time to check them all out yet.
  20. You know, I think it was actually kind of a clever move to do this so soon after Arkham City's release. I'm in full-on DC mode right now. I actually spent 2 hours reading comics last night and now I can't wait for this to go F2P Also, damn you, Hot Heart! My credit card hasn't even been charged Probably only going to get Uncharted 3 near the end of next week, at the soonest.... That is, unless they still haven't charged me come tuesday, in which case I just might say fuck it, cancel the pre-order and grab it from a local store. Amazon.ca's pre-order bonus is a sucky perk, anyway.
  21. Yeah, okay, I don't remember ever hearing that. Thanks. Though the whole
  22. So, Arkham City got me in quite the bat-mood. And instead of digging into the fuckton of Batman comics I downloaded a while back, I downloaded the entirety of Batman: The Animated Series, the one from 1992. I remembered liking it as a kid, but not much else other than people generally referring to it as being THE Batman cartoon. So far I have to say it's pretty damn good! The gothic/art deco aesthetics and minimalistic art style really help make it feel timeless. And it probably help...

Yeah, NML is really good. Never read Cataclysm. Hush and The Long Halloween are also very good reads.

Oh damn, missed your first reply between my two comments. I don't know, I just didn't really enjoy Azrael's stint as Bats. I mean... just look at this monstrosity! http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/8190/235670-139696-azrael_super.jpg

Also, Long Halloween is probably my favorite Batman story so far.

I know it looks dumb, but that was sort of the idea. Azrael goes over the top and then that severly undermines Gordon's trust in the idea of Batman (since he knows it is not the same person). A lot of the elements from Knightfall play into No Man's Land as well.

  23. I am so getting the Nightwing pack! I haven't really touched the challenge rooms yet, though. Only gave Robin a quick try to see how different he was. edit: oh and I was working on the riddler stuff earlier and some of the radio chatter made me realize something. The game never answered the big question I had from the very start, which just cements me in my position that the story was fairly weak
  24. So I finished the game earlier. Overall it's pretty damn amazing and definitely an improvement over Arkham Asylum. That being said, I do have a few minor complaints. - Arkham City itself turned out to not be that big once you really start exploring. There's a lot of hidden nooks and crannies, but in terms of territory it's not much bigger than Arkham Asylum. - The story is, in my opinion, inferior to the original's. It doesn't feel as tight and well-crafted as the story of the first game That's still a minor complaint, though, because the gameplay is just so much fun. I always had more fun when I was just flying around and doing side-missions. In fact, sometimes I found that the pressure to continue the main story actually detracted from the overall experience. - The Catwoman chapters feel like nothing more than glorified challenge rooms. Playing as Catwoman is actually fun. She controls well and there's actually some stuff to do if you just start exploring. But her main "missions" are really not that memorable. So, yeah, one of the best games I've played this year so far but the side-stuff was actually more fun to me than the main story. Once I finished the game and got into free roam mode, I just started doing Riddler stuff and ended up playing for two more hours without even realizing it.
