  1. Well I spent most of that time reading through Hush. Read the whole thing in a single sitting. I think it just might've dethroned The Long Halloween as my favorite Batman story. I also read some of the new 52 stuff like Flash and Aquaman. I've been downloading all the new 52 issues as they came out, but haven't really had time to check them all out yet.
  2. You know, I think it was actually kind of a clever move to do this so soon after Arkham City's release. I'm in full-on DC mode right now. I actually spent 2 hours reading comics last night and now I can't wait for this to go F2P Also, damn you, Hot Heart! My credit card hasn't even been charged Probably only going to get Uncharted 3 near the end of next week, at the soonest.... That is, unless they still haven't charged me come tuesday, in which case I just might say fuck it, cancel the pre-order and grab it from a local store. Amazon.ca's pre-order bonus is a sucky perk, anyway.
  3. Yeah, okay, I don't remember ever hearing that. Thanks. Though the whole
  4. So, Arkham City got me in quite the bat-mood. And instead of digging into the fuckton of Batman comics I downloaded a while back, I downloaded the entirety of Batman: The Animated Series, the one from 1992. I remembered liking it as a kid, but not much else other than people generally referring to it as being THE Batman cartoon. So far I have to say it's pretty damn good! The gothic/art deco aesthetics and minimalistic art style really help make it feel timeless. And it probably help...

Yeah, NML is really good. Never read Cataclysm. Hush and The Long Halloween are also very good reads.

Oh damn, missed your first reply between my two comments. I don't know, I just didn't really enjoy Azrael's stint as Bats. I mean... just look at this monstrosity! http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/8190/235670-139696-azrael_super.jpg

Also, Long Halloween is probably my favorite Batman story so far.

I know it looks dumb, but that was sort of the idea. Azrael goes over the top and then that severly undermines Gordon's trust in the idea of Batman (since he knows it is not the same person). A lot of the elements from Knightfall play into No Man's Land as well.

  5. I am so getting the Nightwing pack! I haven't really touched the challenge rooms yet, though. Only gave Robin a quick try to see how different he was. edit: oh and I was working on the riddler stuff earlier and some of the radio chatter made me realize something. The game never answered the big question I had from the very start, which just cements me in my position that the story was fairly weak
  6. So I finished the game earlier. Overall it's pretty damn amazing and definitely an improvement over Arkham Asylum. That being said, I do have a few minor complaints. - Arkham City itself turned out to not be that big once you really start exploring. There's a lot of hidden nooks and crannies, but in terms of territory it's not much bigger than Arkham Asylum. - The story is, in my opinion, inferior to the original's. It doesn't feel as tight and well-crafted as the story of the first game That's still a minor complaint, though, because the gameplay is just so much fun. I always had more fun when I was just flying around and doing side-missions. In fact, sometimes I found that the pressure to continue the main story actually detracted from the overall experience. - The Catwoman chapters feel like nothing more than glorified challenge rooms. Playing as Catwoman is actually fun. She controls well and there's actually some stuff to do if you just start exploring. But her main "missions" are really not that memorable. So, yeah, one of the best games I've played this year so far but the side-stuff was actually more fun to me than the main story. Once I finished the game and got into free roam mode, I just started doing Riddler stuff and ended up playing for two more hours without even realizing it.
  7. Batman: Arkham City Impressions in the bat-thread.
  8. My favorite was the ME1 reference "Remember the old days when we could just slap omni-gel on everything?" Anyway, so I wasn't expecting much from Overlord, but it turned out to be also very good Not as amazing as Lair of the Shadow Broker, but a very close second. Honestly, I'm inclined to agree with Strangelove. I can't think of any other game whose DLC was that damn good. I'm actually a bit shocked considering how disappointing BioWare have been the past couple of years. Lair and Overlord alone have made this repurchase well worth it.
  9. So, I realize this is a bit late, but I've been replaying ME2 on PS3 for the first time since it first came out, so I'd never played any of the DLC that came out after launch. I played through Lair of the Shadow Broker today, and holy crap! It's better than most of the missions in the main game! After that I'll only have Overlord to play and then it's on to start doing loyalty missions. Oh and, about Arrival: should I buy it now or wait until after I finish my run? I mean, I know it technically takes place after the ending of the game, but I imagine if I buy it now I'll probably get an email on my terminal and I'll be able to do it right away?
  10. Just came home to find my copy of Arkham City waiting for me on my desk! Now to open it and see if my DLC codes are all in there...

Wait, what did the disc go through? It did more than just pop off the spindle?

    3. toxicitizen

      toxicitizen

No, it only popped off the spindle. But it takes more pressure to do that while the case is closed, no?

I tried once and I was unable to do it with the limited amount of force I was willing to use. Didn't want to risk cracking the casing.

  11. After almost two years of using this setup, I finally got around to getting a black keyboard, so now everything on my desk fits together! It was bugging the shit outta me: black case, black monitor, black mouse, black printer, black sound system, my ps3... and a stupid white keyboard. It was also PS/2...

Support for USB keyboards has gotten much better. I haven't had a problem with one in years.

USB kb only has issues if you're on an ancient mobo that probably also requires the prescense of a floppy-disk drive too.

  12. I actually started exploring Darkroot Garden and Darkroot Basin before I realized there was a Lower Undead Burg, so that's probably not a bad place for starters either. By the time I found him, Capra Demon was a fucking joke lol
  13. North American release on February 22nd. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/10/18/get-ready-ps-vita-is-coming-february-22nd/
  14. So, got my PS3 copy of Mass Effect 2 yesterday. Figured I'd replay it without rushing, so long as I've got a save ready for ME3 then all is good. Besides, I'd been meaning to go back and "fix" my PC save ever since first playing the game because for some reason I was in a hurry to finish it at the time and I neglected some upgrades, which turned my final mission into a semi disaster... Then I went to save earlier and realized I already have close to 10 hours of playtime. Oops. Looks like Dark Souls is on indefinite hold :/ And with Arkham City, Uncharted 3 and AC Revelations in the coming weeks, it's just as well. Dark Souls requires more attention than I can give it right now.
  15. It's possible I got it backwards, but what I'd heard is that Dark Souls runs on dedicated servers and Demon's Souls worked differently. Ah okay, just looked it up a bit and the difference is like Dean said, Demon's Souls had a single dedicated server for each region whereas Dark Souls is more P2P-based.
  16. Yeah, the game hasn't frozen on me yet but the framerate occasionally slows down to a crawl. Also, I already feel like the game suffers from having dedicated servers. Sometimes I log on and there are barely any messages on the ground and I encounter almost no other players. When I finally played Demon's Souls seriously (last summer, so close to two years after its release) there were still messages everywhere and I constantly ran into other players' ghosts. I mean, it wasn't as insane as the first few weeks when the game had just come out, but it was significantly more than what I sometimes see in Dark Souls.
  17. It's not like you guys were forced to pick the PC version, though. If you didn't want to wait all you had to do was get it for your console of choice.
  18. IGN a 9.5 Hopefully my copy will actually get here next week. I don't want to go through an extra week of waiting like I had to with Dark Souls
  19. Yeah I figured there had to be a way to fight the Hydra up close, so I tried earlier and realized exactly what you mentioned. Haven't beaten it yet though. As for the drakes, I managed to kill one but it was too much troubles for me to start exploring the area yet. I really need to replace the damn Drake Sword, though :/ It's a nice boost in the early game, but right now it's catching up to me. I need something that deals more damage and because the Drake Sword doesn't get a bonus from strength, I slightly neglected that stat, so now I have to grind...
  20. Actually yeah I noticed that not every boss drops a "boss soul". Also, so far all the bosses I've defeated gave very little in the way of souls. When Taurus Demon gave me only like 1000, I was pretty shocked. I remember Phalanx giving at least 10,000 in Demon's Souls. And yeah the fight against Taurus is MUCH easier if Oh and, quick question to those who've been playing since last week. Does the game get harder? I mean, I'm not complaining here, but the game is supposed to be harder than Demon's Soul but so far I find it's actually easier. So far the areas seem much smaller and the bosses seem kind of easier to dispatch.
  21. So, I was starting to think that maybe I had overleveled in the Undead Burg (was about soul level 15 when I beat Taurus Demon) because I sort of breezed through Undead Parish and Darkroot Garden and while every boss so far has killed me at least once or twice, none of them were much of a challenge once I started figuring them out. I'm now level 25 and after clearing Darkroot Garden I decide to head down to Darkroot Basin, which presented two paths. First I went down, beat the knight relatively easy, then headed in the cave and lit the bonfire. In the back was an elevator that looked just like the one in the Firelink Shrine, so I figured I could make my way back there from here. I hop on and it takes me down to a new area, where I am greeted by Needless to say, I got the fuck outta there. So I head the other way, which brings me to a clearing with So now I'm at a loss as to where I should go. Somehow, I feel like this is the game's way of telling me "Don't get cocky, asshole! You're still my bitch!"
  22. So, I had fun playing FFXIII when it came out and am definitely planning on picking up XIII-2 at some point. But I just watched a seven minutes trailer on IGN, and.... wow. Looks like we're in for one hell of a stupid story. http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/10/13/final-fantasy-xiii-2-new-adventures-trailer?objectid=97872
  23. Oh what the fucking hell did I just watch?!??
  24. Yeah I'm a pyromancer too, but for some reason my fireball doesn't do THAT much damage so him. The fucker always manages to hit me once, and then hit me again before I can get back up! Aw shit, just talking about it makes me wanna go back and try again
  25. So, I killed the Taurus Demon yesterday after some grinding in the Undead Burg. Today I grinded a bit more to raise my endurance and then my dex to equip a box and get the Drake Sword. I was actually surprised to be able to equip it right away, so now I feel like a complete badass with my Drake Sword and full set of chain mail. I head on proudly to the Undead Parish and... proceed to get raped by the knight at the top of the tower at the entrance ... I love this game
