  1. Green Lantern. Most of the criticism I had heard is valid. And it's certainly no Batman Begins. But shit, I liked it a lot. And although I only started reading the comics shortly before the movie came out, I think I've read enough of them to call myself a fan.
  2. So I guess I put my real birth date when I made my EA account, because they just sent me a 25% off code to use on Origin for my birthday. My first idea was to use it to pre-order the CE of Mass Effect 3 (on PS3, because fuck using their shitty app for PC games). But turns out it doesn't work on pre-orders. :( So, now I'm wondering. NFS: Hot Pursuit, any good?

I would agree on almost. Besides the obvious differences, steering is heavier, powersliding is not for every corner, and boost has a different application. Same general feel though.

Happy birthday man :D! Enjoy some hot Pursuit, any other gifts you got?

Thanks! Mostly cash. Cash that will go towards buying Arkham City. :D

Although I do count Dark Souls as a present I gave myself :P I should (hopefully) get it tuesday or wednesday, at the latest.

  3. Just went on Amazon.ca to browse, mostly out of boredom. But that was right there on the frontpage, a marketplace seller had it for 17$, so 22$ including shipping. Couldn't resist. I'd been tempted for a while, but could never justify paying 40 bucks for it. Also, I'm pretty sure buying all the DLC for my PC copy would've cost me about the same, if not a bit more. Also, now if EA decide to be assholes by not putting ME3 on Steam, switching over to PS3 won't be a problem since I'll have a save to import.
  4. W00t! Got my shipping notice! Won't get it until next week, but at least now I know it's coming! At least that gives me time to finish ICO, RE4 and Limbo over the week-end.
  5. GAAH! Holy shit, Amazon.ca! Ship my damn copy already!! >_< The shipping estimate was for today all along, but I honestly did not expect it would take them this fucking long to do it. It wouldn't have been the first time I get a shipping and delivery estimate as much as a week after release, but still get the game on release day
  6. Braid's aesthetics didn't really bother me, but I can definitely see where you guys are coming from. It can get a bit tiring on the eyes after a while.
  7. on PSN. Five bucks more than on Steam, but fuck it, I wanted it on PS3. I only played for about 40mins, but so far I like it a lot. I think I like it more than Braid.
  8. Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on the CAG thread about it and there seems to be a couple of people winning the game on every page.
  9. Ugh, there's just no winning this fucking game! >_< I think I must've tried 30 different emails since last night and the damn coin always lands on tails. I'm starting to wonder if the game is rigged to automatically fail for people not in the US. IP detection or something to weed out uneligible people :/ And all I want is 3 free months of PS+
  10. Just pre-ordered this. Was gonna do it on Amazon.ca, but they weren't offering any pre-order bonus. So I reluctantly made my way to gamestop.ca and they were offering some Joker challenge map, which I really don't give a shit about. So then I figured what the hell and headed to bestbuy.ca and they have Robin! Fuck yeah! It'll probably all eventually come out as regular DLC anyway (at least I hope so because some of those Batman skins are fucking badass!), but this seems like the coolest thing to get right away.
  11. Yeah, that's exactly how I feel (well, except for that Halo comparison). I remembered RE4 to have genuinely scary parts while Dead Space is more of a creepy/dread thing. But now that I'm replaying RE4, I feel like it's not scary or creepy at all. I guess I'm less of a pussy than I was last time I played it
  12. So, still no shipping notice from Amazon.ca I still have a shipping estimate of oct 7, though... so I'll just have to wait, I guess... Though it does kinda worry me that they have separate listings for regular and collector's edition, and that the CE (the one I ordered) is no longer available for purchase. I mean, how could they possibly run out of CEs but not of regular editions when all first prints are CEs?
  13. That's the thing. I had only ever played the game once before, and so far every moment I remembered to be scary in some way just wasn't. That includes the second time at the church with the wolves (I just tossed a grenade and actually lol'd at how easily that took care of them), and the hedge maze I mentioned above. There's really only one more part that I distinctly remember being scary that I haven't reached yet. It's a boss fight. but I'm really not sure against who or when it takes place. All I remember is thinking "HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT!!" and running away like a bitch. I think it's against that insect-like henchman thing that follows Salazar around.
  14. The old RE were scary to me as a kid, but not in the sense you might be thinking of. I guess scary is not the best term. Dread would be more accurate. I played RE2 when it got ported to N64, so at that point it had been out for a while and I had heard about it a lot through friends. So for example, I knew that Tyrant would get dropped on me in a certain corridor, but I didn't know exactly at which point in the game it would happen, so every time I went through it I was nervous as fuck. Same goes for not knowing when Nemesis is going to pop out in RE3. But I agree, other than the cheap scares that would make you jump, what made the old RE scary was the sense of helplessness that the controls and difficulty caused. I played through the PSOne version of the first RE when it came out on PSN (it was the first time I ever beat it), and it wasn't really scary. I really need to play the other ones, though. It's been ages since I beat RE2 (and I only played one of the scenarios), and I never really got far into RE3. Actually, yeah, I think I'll hold off on buying Code Veronica X HD until I properly beat RE2 and 3.
  15. So, Resident Evil 4? Nowhere near as scary as I remembered it to be. Not scary at all, actually. I just passed the part in the hedge maze with the wolves and I remembered that to be a pretty intense moment. But I just breezed through it like it was nothing. If I had to guess, I'd say I'm probably just a better gamer than I was 6 years ago. So I probably had more ammo and healing items than I did the first time. That being said, the atmosphere of the game isn't very tense, either. Dead Space wasn't scary, but it had a great atmosphere that kept me on the edge of my seat most of the time. RE4 doesn't really have that. It's still an amazing game, though. And it holds up surprisingly well. I'm definitely glad I bought it as I'm having a blast replaying it.
  16. You know, I played like that at first, but I quickly realized something was wrong because I wasn't racking up high scores. It's not about causing a huge pile-up or blocking the road completely. The most efficient way to rack up points is to cause crashes and then use those pile-ups to destroy everything around the intersection: buildings, gas station, houses, etc... So yeah, exploding will clear your roadblock, but if you do it right, it's going to rack you a fuckton of points when you send flaming cars flying into the surroundings and setting everything on fire.
  17. Shit... you guys are making me feel like I'm a terrible student for getting it...
  18. Actually, I find the amount of hate towards Crash rather surprising. Prior to mentioning it in this thread, all I had heard about it was positive, which is what made me want to try it out in the first place. Out of curiosity, why do you guys think it's so awful?
  19. For 10 bucks, I'm satisfied with what I got. Though admittedly I'm not a huge Burnout fan. My only experience with the last gen games was trying one of them (no idea which one) very briefly at my friend's place once. The only Burnout game I played extensively was Burnout Paradise this summer. So yeah, I guess we're just not coming from the same place here.
  20. Forgot to mention I grabbed Burnout Crash the other day. Quite the fun little game!
  21. Well, if you picked any other ending than that, you're an idiot! But seriously, didn't Invisible War take elements from all four of Deus Ex's endings and merged them all into its plot?
  22. I'm only about an hour in, but so far ICO is much better than I thought it would be! For some reason, even through all the praise it gets online my expectations remained fairly normal.

I prefer ICO over SotC. Make sure you see them both through to the ending, as both endings kinda alter how you perceive the game you just played.

Agreed on the combat. It's already annoying how you sometimes have to use Yorda as bait before you can even hit the enemies. I can see how that could get old pretty fast.

And yeah, I've played SotC before, so I probably won't touch it until I finish ICO.

The combat gets a bit more bearable at some point in the game, but it's still kind of annoying at times.

I was afraid I might not take to it too well also, but I'm having a great time with it so far (I think I'm almost done). The camera issues can be unforgivable at times, but it doesn't detract from the overall experience too much.

Let's see if SOTC aged like wine as well.

  23. So, I ended up doing just what I was thinking about yesterday. Picked this up on my way back from class The liquor store also happens to be on my way, so I grabbed a small bottle of rum because friday night usually means beer drinking night and I felt like mixing things up a bit!
  24. Well the thing about RE4HD is that from what I understand (and I could be wrong) they only upped the resolution. I mean, if you're going to "HD-ify" a game, might as well go all the way and tweak the textures a bit to make sure they actually look good in HD, no? Anyway, just grabbed this Off to try it now.
  25. IGN are doing a 24 hours live stream of them playing the game. http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/09/28/ign-live-24-hours-of-dark-souls I personally didn't intend to watch and spoil the game, but I checked it out out of curiosity and it's actually pretty cool to see the game being played live instead of just watching pre-recorded gameplay vids. Can't wait to get my hands on this!!
