  1. So everything was going relatively fine, I even managed to kill an overpowered enemy by climbing on a roof and throwing all my firebombs at him and then electrifying my axe and jumping down at him to deliver the final blow. Then I got killed by an even stronger fucker wielding what looked like a giant horn, and I died by falling off a cliff before I could regain my lost souls. At that point I burst out laughing and turned off the game.
  2. Fuck yeah! My copy of the game finally arrived! LET THE PUNISHMENT BEGIN!
  3. Just saw the new trailer for The Avengers. That was pretty awesome!

I feel like there are more characters in this team than there needs to be. I think the actors and characters make such big personalities on their own that we don't need Black Widow or Hawkeye. Thor, Hulk, Cap, Iron Man and Nick Fury are probably all the characters the film really needs. There's plenty of potential with just those.

Funny, I feel like the team isn't a very good Avengers team and needs another big player. Original New Avengers team (with The Sentry) ftw!

Yeah I kinda wish the Spidey rights would revert to Marvel already...

  4. I finished at about 3 hours and 51 minutes, so I got that "under 4 hours" trophy. Truthfully, it probably took me nearly 6 hours given how the last section is one continuous survival trial until the boss. That and the stupid water tower section. I can't imagine how one can complete the game in under two hours. Yeah, I probably played it for closer to 8 hours when accounting for the times I got stuck and quit the game without saving since I'd made no progress in some time . Then again, it probably would've been under 4 hours if I'd simply returned to the main menu instead of picking continue whenever I died. Under 2 hours, though? That is crazy.
  5. Oh, Steam is an option. I just prefer getting those kinds of games on my PS3. It's really just a personal preference. Same reason I held off on buying Braid until it came out on PSN and also why I bought Limbo on PS3 even though it was 5 bucks cheaper on Steam. Besides, if in a year or so it still isn't on PS3, then I'll just get it on Steam for like 2$ during a sale. No big loss.
  6. You got a point there... Not sure if that's a good sign or a bad sign, though. If it's not timed exclusivity, then I can't help but wonder what the holdup is. Might be they're just not planning a PSN release
  7. Well I'm kind of on a roll. Just beat Limbo. Which is probably for the best seeing as I'll very likely be getting my copy of Dark Souls tomorrow, and I don't think I'll be playing anything else until Arkham City. Anyway, I don't know if there was 15$ worth of content in it, but I loved the hell out of it. Now to wait a year until (fingers crossed) Bastion also makes the jump to PSN.
  8. True, but I'm assuming that your save is only for ME1? In which case, there's the interactive comic thing to recreate your decisions, which is admittedly not the same as an actual playthrough, but it's better than nothing. Though I can't really vouch for it or anything since I've yet to see what it's actually like. Wait, so rebuying the game was less troubles than just going through his collection one box at a time?
  9. Ico. Wow. Just... wow. I already mentioned how it was much better than I expected it to be, but now that it's over, what an amazing game. It's even more mind-boggling when you realize that it's nothing more than a 5 hours escort mission. I'm really glad I decided to play it first instead of jumping straight into Shadow of the Colossus. The only complaint I have is that it can get a bit annoying waiting around because of how slow Yorda is when you need her to climb ladders.
  10. Yeah, I get that. But considering ME3 is like 6 months away, I think the PS3 version is as close to a GOTY as we're gonna get.
  11. Resident Evil 4. I first beat it years ago on the gamecube, but it's been so long that I'm counting it anyway. Still have that Separate Ways Ada side-mission thing to beat, though. That wasn't in the version I played before. Oh and replaying this really made it that much clearer that RE5 was completely devoid of any creativity. And don't get me wrong, I actually liked RE5. I wasn't one of the haters. But it's like RE5 spent too much energy trying to recreate the big set pieces of RE4 without ever trying to be its own thing. I mean, RE4 truly feels like a Resident Evil game : monsters that grow eyes where there shouldn't be any, crazy transformations that result in large creepy arms with claws, etc... Even stuff like the door of a room automatically locking right after a boss drops right in front of you. That's a classic Resident Evil moment. None of that was really present in RE5. And then there's the fact that pretty much every boss fight in it was against the same shapeless, blob-like mass of black crap...
  12. Green Lantern. Most of the criticism I had heard is valid. And it's certainly no Batman Begins. But shit, I liked it a lot. And although I only started reading the comics shortly before the movie came out, I think I've read enough of them to call myself a fan.
  13. So I guess I put my real birth date when I made my EA account, because they just sent me a 25% off code to use on Origin for my birthday. My first idea was to use it to pre-order the CE of Mass Effect 3 (on PS3, because fuck using their shitty app for PC games). But turns out it doesn't work on pre-orders. :( So, now I'm wondering. NFS: Hot Pursuit, any good?

I would agree on almost. Besides the obvious differences, steering is heavier, powersliding is not for every corner, and boost has a different application. Same general feel though.

Thanks! Mostly cash. Cash that will go towards buying Arkham City. :D

Although I do count Dark Souls as a present I gave myself :P I should (hopefully) get it tuesday or wednesday, at the latest.

  14. Just went on Amazon.ca to browse, mostly out of boredom. But that was right there on the frontpage, a marketplace seller had it for 17$, so 22$ including shipping. Couldn't resist. I'd been tempted for a while, but could never justify paying 40 bucks for it. Also, I'm pretty sure buying all the DLC for my PC copy would've cost me about the same, if not a bit more. Also, now if EA decide to be assholes by not putting ME3 on Steam, switching over to PS3 won't be a problem since I'll have a save to import.
  15. W00t! Got my shipping notice! Won't get it until next week, but at least now I know it's coming! At least that gives me time to finish ICO, RE4 and Limbo over the week-end.
  16. GAAH! Holy shit, Amazon.ca! Ship my damn copy already!! >_< The shipping estimate was for today all along, but I honestly did not expect it would take them this fucking long to do it. It wouldn't have been the first time I get a shipping and delivery estimate as much as a week after release, but still get the game on release day
  17. Braid's aesthetics didn't really bother me, but I can definitely see where you guys are coming from. It can get a bit tiring on the eyes after a while.
  18. on PSN. Five bucks more than on Steam, but fuck it, I wanted it on PS3. I only played for about 40mins, but so far I like it a lot. I think I like it more than Braid.
  19. Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on the CAG thread about it and there seems to be a couple of people winning the game on every page.
  20. Ugh, there's just no winning this fucking game! >_< I think I must've tried 30 different emails since last night and the damn coin always lands on tails. I'm starting to wonder if the game is rigged to automatically fail for people not in the US. IP detection or something to weed out uneligible people :/ And all I want is 3 free months of PS+
  21. Just pre-ordered this. Was gonna do it on Amazon.ca, but they weren't offering any pre-order bonus. So I reluctantly made my way to gamestop.ca and they were offering some Joker challenge map, which I really don't give a shit about. So then I figured what the hell and headed to bestbuy.ca and they have Robin! Fuck yeah! It'll probably all eventually come out as regular DLC anyway (at least I hope so because some of those Batman skins are fucking badass!), but this seems like the coolest thing to get right away.
  22. Yeah, that's exactly how I feel (well, except for that Halo comparison). I remembered RE4 to have genuinely scary parts while Dead Space is more of a creepy/dread thing. But now that I'm replaying RE4, I feel like it's not scary or creepy at all. I guess I'm less of a pussy than I was last time I played it
  23. So, still no shipping notice from Amazon.ca I still have a shipping estimate of oct 7, though... so I'll just have to wait, I guess... Though it does kinda worry me that they have separate listings for regular and collector's edition, and that the CE (the one I ordered) is no longer available for purchase. I mean, how could they possibly run out of CEs but not of regular editions when all first prints are CEs?
  24. That's the thing. I had only ever played the game once before, and so far every moment I remembered to be scary in some way just wasn't. That includes the second time at the church with the wolves (I just tossed a grenade and actually lol'd at how easily that took care of them), and the hedge maze I mentioned above. There's really only one more part that I distinctly remember being scary that I haven't reached yet. It's a boss fight. but I'm really not sure against who or when it takes place. All I remember is thinking "HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT!!" and running away like a bitch. I think it's against that insect-like henchman thing that follows Salazar around.
  25. The old RE were scary to me as a kid, but not in the sense you might be thinking of. I guess scary is not the best term. Dread would be more accurate. I played RE2 when it got ported to N64, so at that point it had been out for a while and I had heard about it a lot through friends. So for example, I knew that Tyrant would get dropped on me in a certain corridor, but I didn't know exactly at which point in the game it would happen, so every time I went through it I was nervous as fuck. Same goes for not knowing when Nemesis is going to pop out in RE3. But I agree, other than the cheap scares that would make you jump, what made the old RE scary was the sense of helplessness that the controls and difficulty caused. I played through the PSOne version of the first RE when it came out on PSN (it was the first time I ever beat it), and it wasn't really scary. I really need to play the other ones, though. It's been ages since I beat RE2 (and I only played one of the scenarios), and I never really got far into RE3. Actually, yeah, I think I'll hold off on buying Code Veronica X HD until I properly beat RE2 and 3.
