At least the puzzles weren't all as obvious as the ones in Uncharted 2. But I completely agree with you that it's slightly less exciting than the second one.

It could just be that the game is taxing your system in a very specific way that it can't handle. If that's the case, the problem is still with your system. For example, could be your GPU overheating. Did you try lowering the settings? Put everything at the lowest and see if it still happens.

Are those the three copies you already bought or three new ones?

So in a moment of weakness I caved in to the hype and torrented Skyrim and MW3. Well, I was always going to torrent MW3 because I wanna play the continuation of Price and Soap's story, but fuck paying 60 bucks for that lazy rehash. I bought it last year when it was called Black Ops. But I digress. So, I figured I'd give Skyrim a quick try, probably not get into it too much and buy it later down the line, or when the inevitable GOTY drops. Started playing and about halfway through the first dungeon I realized there was no way in hell that was happening. The game already had its hooks into me in a way even Oblivion and Fallout never did. It's not perfect by any stretch of the word, but holy shit I love the changes they've implemented. Not picking any major skills or class and having a perks system instead just works. Might piss off hardcore TES fans, but I think it was a brilliant move. It means I'm that much more unlikely to end up with a screwed up build that's too weak for the enemies' level. Hell, I fought against 3-4 enemies simultaneously and managed to win. In Oblivion, I would've been hopelessly outnumbered in that fight. The UI was obviously designed with a controller in mind. It's fucking stupid that you can't click on menu items directly and have to navigate the menus with WASD. But at least it works well and is intuitive, I guess. I absolutely love how spellcasting works, though. When I realized that as long as I held down the mouse button my hand would keep shooting a constant stream of fire, well that was a holy shit moment. It's a simple change but it makes such a huge difference. It was very annoying in Oblivion to have to cast stuff like restoration five times in a row and watch the animation every single time. Also, it's possible that my expectations were simply too low because this is a Bethesda game, but a few things actually impressed me. First, the water looks awesome. The first time I came across a stream, I just stood there looking at it for about 5 minutes. Next, shortly after I realized how spellcasting now worked, I decided to have some fun. So as an enemy approached me, I readied my flame spell and unleashed fire upon him. Then some fucking grease on the floor caught fire and not only did he fall down instantly, but it also killed the fucker that was a few feet behind him. My jaw dropped and I could not contain my giddiness. This surprised me in the same way I was surprised when I first saw the collapsing building in that E3 2009 Uncharted 2 demo. Just... woah. I really hate playing without paying, though. No idea when I'll be able to afford it, but I need to buy this game asap. Oh and a quick off-topic. I mentioned a few times how DCUO would always crash on startup for me. Well, turns out there was a bigger issue. Both Skyrim and MW3 did the same thing, so I got on Steam and realized any semi-recent game did the same thing. Human Revolution, which I'd played only 2 months ago, behaved in the same way, but older stuff like Deus Ex and Doom 3 would launch fine. Could never figure out what was wrong, so I had to format. Luckily, I keep my windows installation on a separate, smaller partition with nothing particularly important on it, so formatting is always painless B)

Considering the setting, it's logical that they'd be speaking russian. But it would be pretty damn impractical to make the whole game in russian with subtitles.

Such as..? Mostly when it comes it Revolver Ocelot and Liquid's arm, that whole thing. And a bunch of details on the Patriots too. A lot of the "articles" on there contradict either with the game sor the database itself. Not to mention it's not updated with any Peace Walker info either. Well Peace Walker wasn't out at the time, and I can't really blame them for not updating it, really. As for the whole Ocelot and Liquid thing, the series has inconsistencies.

Yeah, that thing rules. What was awesome is some entries were locked until you had reached a certain point in MGS4 to avoid the encyclopedia spoiling the plot for you.

Funny you should say that. I recently watched the movie adaptation of All-Star Superman (pretty sure I posted about it in one of the movie threads) and thought it was.... weird. It wasn't bad, that's for sure. But it was certainly the strangest Superman story I'd ever experienced. My favorite still remains Geoff Johns' Secret Origin, though. But to be honest, my experience with Superman comics has been really hit or miss. And unlike Batman, I mostly stuck to stand-alone miniseries, soI haven't read a whole lot of Superman that wasn't just a retelling of his origin story. That's the main problem with having a 700+ issues series. You don't know where the fuck to start reading, and it sure as shit won't be at #1.

Damn, that kind of explains why choice was so limited when I started shopping around for my ps3 hdd... Couldn't even find a 5400 rpm at the size I wanted. Also explains why prices were higher than I remembered. I'd looked at notebook hdds before and I remembered them to cost around 50-60$. But I ended up having to pay 90$ (shipping included). I figured that as unlikely as it seemed, perhaps I had been looking at recertified drives all along without realizing it. This makes more sense. Luckily, the hdd was a gift so I didn't pay for it with my own money. Pretty sure I have the same drive. Even almost three years ago it still only cost me about 160$. This is insane.

Toki Tori is awesome, but it made me feel real stupid real quick because I did not get very far into it before running into levels that made me go "how the fuck am I supposed to do this?!"

Got curious as I'd never even heard of this. Looked it up and it seemed interesting so I went to look for a demo and saw it was only 2,50$. I just took the plunge and bought it. Glad I did, cool little puzzler. So, thanks, I guess!

Impulse bought this on PSN today. The original MK is an absolute piece of shit of a game, but holy crap am I having a blast playing it! Nostalgia is a very powerful thing. Also, strangely, I am kind of enjoying the simplicity of having each character have only 2 special moves.

Yeah, that really sucks. I went back to replay some chapters today, to try and find some more treasures before starting my hard run. And I couldn't find any way to buy skins or unlock guns or whatever. That was really cool in Uncharted 2.

it's not that I don't like it. I don't mind, really. I'm just not very good at making them. They usually end up looking... weird. I kinda wish I could post a screenshot of my attempt at making a femshep on PS3. My friend let out a very loud "WHAT THE FUCK" when I showed him. I just don't have the eye for detail necessary to match facial features that go well together. Also, in the case of Mass Effect, it just feels to me like default Shepard is the "real" one.

I kept the default name and face for my main run. I only make custom characters when I have no choice. Like in Dragon Age: Origins. I'm planning on eventually doing a custom femshep and try to go a more renegade way, but my main Shepard is the guy on the box.

Yeah, that's the capra demon. I somehow missed that area completely at first and was something like level 50 when I stumbled upon it, so it was a pretty damn easy fight for me. And I don't know what level you are, but the butterfly killed me the first time only because I had no idea what I was doing (and had no ranged weapon, so I figured I was screwed anyway). But it's actually pretty easy to beat.

Still haven't been able to get the PC version to not crash as soon as I launch it, but I should be getting my new HDD this week, so I should be able to play on PS3 after all

Started playing Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit a couple of days ago. Really loving it so far. Though it can be damn frustrating when you can't seem to shave off those last few seconds off your time for the gold Also, some of the modes are kinda boring. I mean, it's fine that as a racer you don't always get chased. I can understand why they would put regular races in there. But why the hell do I have to do what are basically time trials when I'm playing as a a cop?!

I wouldn't say it's watered-down; certainly not as a whole. It's just giving players more options. Yeah, exactly. I much prefer them offering different ways to play the game rather than just streamlining the shit out of it like they did Mass Effect 2. They should feel free to add an "action mode" for idiots who think the game should be less RPG and more shooty as long as it doesn't diminishes the "proper" mode.

That's some pretty diverse game preferences there... That's a side-effect of his medication.
