  1. Steam. 5 bucks. Never played the actual card game before, but I tried the demo and liked it. I suck at it pretty bad, though. I've yet to beat the first damn battle on the lowest difficulty....
  2. I have no doubt the original is also excellent, and I actually did look for it but could only find the american version. But since I hear the two are basically identical, I think I'll wait a bit before watching the other version.
  3. Eh, whatever. You guys call it what you want. I don't have the energy to argue about pointless shit like this right now.
  4. It was made once. Then it was made again. Remake.
  5. Watched Let Me In last night. Kinda felt like an asshole for watching the american remake instead of the original, but it was easier to find :/ I thought it was excellent. I especially liked how the girl's vampire side is shown to be this vicious and bloodthirsty predator yet most of the time you just want to hug her and comfort her.
  6. Holy shit! It looks way too sunny and seems like quite the departure from the settings and feel of the previous games, but I just about lost my shit when I heard the violin theme!

I don't know if that's a new voice actor, or if he just completely lost his touch, but damn...

Sounds like the same dude to me and his wiki page says it's him.

      Faiblesse Des Sens

Yeah, sounds like him. Anyways, the feel of the previous games was desperation, struggle, and things along those lines. The story still seems dark despite it taking place in Brazil.

  7. Holy crap! Old lady next door just gave us a NES with boxed copies of Super Mario Bros 2 and 3, and what I think is the japanese version of SMB 2 along with an adapter and what she claims are two brand new controllers O_O Now to hook it up and see if/how well it works!

I don't even know which lady gave it lol. My mom and grandmother pretty much only told me "the lady next door gave this to us" without specifying which one lol Though I agree that thanks are in order. I guess it was taking up space and her grandkids didn't want it and now I'm reaping the benefits. Silly kids and their playboxes!

Oh and the same thing occured to me at first, Chilton. But then I tested it, and no way in hell am I letting go of a fully functional NES! I've actually started looking on ebay for games, and I think I could get both Zelda used for pretty cheap. Question is: how likely are they to work?

  8. Yeah, when I said five years between books I was referring to the last two books. Book 1 through 3 all came out within 2 years of each other. That's a much more reasonable waiting period, imo. As for the four years thing, I guess maybe it was Martin's way of giving himself a deadline? Some kind of motivation to write faster, perhaps. It'd be interesting to hear from him why it took so long for the last two books, though. I can't help but wonder if he got a bit of writer's block or something. If I had to guess, I'd say splitting what was originally book 4 in two probably made things a bit more complicated. But that can't be the only thing at play here.
  9. Well that's the thing. At his current pace (let's say 5 years between books), he might get book 6 out just in time for the show's season 6. I also heard that some of the larger books might extend beyond a single season, which could possibly buy him some time. But I have no source here, so don't quote me on that. But still, unless he starts writing faster, the show is pretty much fucked for book 7.
  10. So, are they wyverns in the show because they made them with only two legs? Or is that detail also mentioned in the books at some point? I'm admittedly only 2 books in, but I don't remember them being referred to as anything but dragons. Because if this dragons having four legs thing is just a random "fantasy fact", then I don't give a shit. They are called dragons in the books/show ergo they are dragons regardless of how many legs the show decided to give them. I mean, we're talking about a fictional fantasy creature here, so who gives a shit... Also What does the length of his contract with HBO has to do with the books' publications? I mean, it's not like HBO is publishing the books. Also, contracts can be renewed when they expire. And four years seems like a ridiculously short time period to adapt an unfinished 7 book series...
  11. Well he's old and he took his sweet ass time writing the last few books, so... who knows what could happen.
  12. Glad to see I'm not the only one who can't stand Sansa Man, that had to suck for people who had been waiting since 2005 for the damn book to come out. I'm almost afraid to get up to date on this series. What if I take less than 10 years to read books 3 through 5?! I'll have to wait years for George R.R. Martin to finish book 6 and then he's probably going to die in the middle of writing book 7. Probably gonna choke on a taco, or something equally ridiculous, too! You know, just to spite everyone.
  13. I knew the plot was split for book 4/5 and that some characters weren't in 4 but I didn't know who and now that I do, holy shit O_O To have both Jon AND Tyrion not be in the book at all... That's just evil Tyrion and Jon chapters are my most looked-forward-to chapters in the books! The drive to get to the next ones is what gets me through the chapters of characters I don't give a shit about. Like Sansa.
  14. Hard Reset demo is finally out! Of course, now that I bought some shirts and school books, I can't afford to pre-order if it turns out to be awesome. But still, can't wait to give it a shot.

@RockyRan: Yes! I love those panels, soo seamless! I also like the enemy AI in it, so far good pathfinding and nice moves (like quick-strafe dodging). I'm also loving how smooth the actual aiming is too. The very fact that I went "Wow, this is nice, been a while" says a lot.

  15. Deus Ex: Human Revolution came so close to perfectly recreating what made the original great that it got me all nostalgic for that time about a decade ago when I first discovered both the original Deus Ex and the Thief series (it also sent my Thief 4 expectations through the damn roof). Much like Deus Ex, Thief 2 still ranks high among my favorite games of all time, so I decided it was time I finally played Thief: Deadly Shadows. Hell, I might even suck it up and finally play Invisible War all the way through once I'm done with Deadly Shadows!
  16. Had a 2 hours break between classes yesterday so I found myself a spot in the grass and started reading A Storm of Swords. Watching the tv show only 2 weeks ago probably helped, but it sucked me right back in from the very first page. Of course, now I'm fucked if I want to remember how I originally pictured the characters. The actors have completely overwritten my imagination. I seriously need to read that Clash of Kings recap, though. I realized while watching the show that I remember very little of it, and starting Storm made that all the more painfully clear. A chapter started, and when they referred to something that had happened in the previous book, I went "Wait, what? That happened?!" It's weird but I remembered book 1 much more clearly than book 2, and I read them about 3 and 2 years ago respectively. Oh well, done with school for the day and I've got another 2 hours break tomorrow, so I better get started on that recap.
  17. Oh what the hell... PC froze while I was playing MW2 and now I lost all my campaign progress. How the fuck does something like that even happens?!

Actually it was more like 2 hours. So... a third of the game? I was on the oil rig level.

And of course there doesn't seem to be a cheat to unlock all the levels to start from where I was >_<

I can probably send you over a save file if that's possible. Away from my computer until tomorrow night, but if it's possible I'd be happy to send you a save of the game after the sub mission.

That could be worth looking into. Of course, that's if I don't end up just sucking it up and starting over. Only got class in the morning tomorrow, so I'll be free most of the day.

Also, just found out that the game actually uses SteamCloud. Isn't that system meant to prevent shit like this from happening?

  18. Another evening, another Marvel movie. The Incredible Hulk, this time. Don't know why I took so long to watch it, but it was pretty good. Was it supposed to be a reboot, though? It seems to pick up where Ang Lee's Hulk left off with Banner on the run in south america. Kind of annoying that they've recast Banner for Avengers, though, as this one is clearly meant to be a part of the same continuity.
  19. Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Overall it was pretty great. I don't think it quite reached the bar set by the first one, but it was definitely worthy of the Deus Ex name. I thought the first half was better than the second half, though. Story wasn't as conspiracy-heavy as I'd hoped, but it was still good enough. I could probably come up with a few more minor complaints, but for now I'll leave it as that and think on it for a while. If I have anything to add I'll post in the Deus Ex thread.
  20. Watched X-Men: First Class tonight. Holy. Shit. I can't get over how insanely fucking GOOD it is! I thought that the first two Spider-Man and X-Men movies were good, but they just don't compare to First Class. I also used to think that Nolan's batfilms were in a class of their own. But I believe First Class ranks just as high. I almost wish it was a reboot rather than a prequel so they could build a new X-Men movieverse from it. Though I did get a good laugh out of . Oh and fuck Ian McKellen. Michael Fassbender IS Magneto. He just nails it.
  21. Finally watched Thor last night. It was very enjoyable, though it kinda bugged me a bit that basically nothing happens in it. I mean, there is very little story to speak of beyond Thor's character arc. It can basically be summed up as Though I did enjoy the cameo about halfway through (not Stan lee's...) It does work as an introduction to the character and set up for The Avengers, though. But other superhero movies like the first two Spider-Man, the first two X-Men and even the Iron Man series felt like they had so much more going on in them. I like what Marvel are doing with their movie continuity, but I feel like this movie was nothing more than a stepping stone to Avengers instead of its own thing that also leads up to it. Hopefully Captain American doesn't suffer from this as much.
  22. Was going to post the sword vs gun scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark, but after it was all typed up I went back just in case, and sure enough someone had already posted it So now I must think of something else! Oh! I know! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL_8Ugp9zI4 This is probably my number 1 guilty pleasure movie. I know it's terrible, but I can't help it. I just fucking love it.
  23. Almost done! Only about 1 GB to go!
