  1. Yahtzee said the same thing , but who said it first. Hmmm, then it's possible I got them mixed up and attributed the quote to the wrong person. Actually, I just did a quick search on PA's website and it seems like Mike/Gabe is a huge fan of the artist who worked on Darksiders, so it must've been Yahtzee who said it.
  2. Haha. Same thing happened to me but I was still on the Traffic desk at that point. It's a bit odd that it limits how many you can have and that you earn them via levelling up, but there's also a max rank...and you gain experience from anything...yet they completely refill for when you replay a case. It's almost as if they put no thought into it. Seems like they should've handed one out for every five correctly judged responses or something like that. Agreed. Team Bondi deserves a lot of credit for the originality of the gameplay alone, but some aspects of it are still a bit rough. There's definitely room for some improvement if (or rather when) they make a sequel.
  3. Yeah, but sometimes I just can't help myself I think it's a mistake to have the game tell you immediately when you get a question wrong. Would be better and less tempting if they only told you once the interrogation was over, or even at the very end of the case. I'm on the Homicide desk now. So far loving it, even though it's pretty obvious that I would be further along, but I started over 5 hours in. One of the reason was that I was under the mistaken impression that whenever I earned an intuition point, all it did was raise the maximum amount I could have, and that they refilled with every new case. Turns out that was wrong and I had wasted a bunch of them. But the main reason was that I had played those five hours on the day I got the game and had reached the Homicide desk. Then the next day the PSN store came back so I could redeem my free DLC and buy the Rockstar Pass to get the other cases. Turns out two of them were Traffic desk and if I played them from the main menu I wasn't getting any XP from them, so I figured I'd start over. What is weird, though is that starting over didn't reset my stats. So the first few newspapers I grabbed and dispatch calls I answered didn't really count in the new game. I also started the new game already at level 7 or 8, so I ended up getting the XP for the early cases twice.
  4. hmm, I guess I could try and regain access to the old EU account I made to get the Killzone 2 demo early a few years ago. Problem is I've no idea which email address I used (if even a real one). edit: ha! managed to retrieve it! Though for some reason its region is France. Kinda wish I'd done England. I got LBP through it, downloading it now. hope it won't be in french :/ Oh and I took a quick look around that region's store and saw a demo for No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise. Unless I'm completely blind, I don't think that's available in North America? Downloading it as well
  5. Perhaps you managed to redeem the free game option but got an error before you could choose your game? It also happened to me. They gave a workaround on the ps.blog
  6. Yeah, Super Stardust HD would've been a no-brainer if I didn't already own it. Dead Nation is actually made by the same developer. I gave it a quick try earlier and it seems decent enough. I'm loving the hell out of Wipeout HD so far, too! But it would take more than that to keep me away from L.A. Noire at the moment. There is currently no demo, because as of yet my plans for global domination haven't extended that far. Even a small micro-nation in Indonesia.
  7. Yeah, it's a fucking pain in the ass to access right now. You get like 9 errors in a row regardless of which section you're trying to access. After fighting with it for like 20mins, I finally managed to pick my two PS3 games and one PSP game. Went with the WipeOut HD bundle and Dead Nation. I had been considering LBP, but when I saw it wasn't GOTY I said fuck it. I picked Killzone: Liberation for PSP, but I have no idea what I should get for the other one. LBP and MNR feel... pointless on PSP. And that other Pursuit game looks decent, but I had never heard of it prior to this, so I'm hesitant.
  8. Even though I'd been hoping for it to happen ever since Sony first started these HD collections, the Silent Hill Collection seems like a wasted opportunity. No HD and Move-enabled Shattered Memories, I can understand. They can still release it on its own, I guess. But no Silent Hill 4? Why? I get that it wasn't the most popular SH title, but still, now it makes the whole thing feel incomplete.
  9. PSN store's return couldn't have been timed better! I just started L.A. Noire yesterday, so I'm not too far into it. Just bought the Rockstar Pass and am downloading all the DLC :D

  10. I agree with the sentiment in general but I gave Darksiders a pass because it had a more comic book-like art style as opposed to Gears' more photorealistic approach. So it didn't seem as weird-looking to me. That being said, I think Gabe from Penny-Arcade Yahtzee put it best when he once said that War looked like "someone started drawing him and never stopped".
  11. Having absolutely loved the first Darksiders, I'm looking forward to this quite a lot! edit: updated the embed with the HD version
  12. PSN store seems to be back!

Also, I was actually headed to bed when I fired up my PSP for a few rounds of Street Fighter Alpha. I checked the store out of habit as I've been doing for the past few days but I didn't expect it to actually be up. Now I think I missed my window for falling asleep quickly :/

Advent, why not buy the UK release? That way you'll actually have a disc version.

  13. Finally got the game today. It's great so far, but I was wondering. Am I just being OCD or did you guys also feel the need to quit and restart the current section whenever you messed up a line of questioning during interrogations? It's starting to drive me nuts!
  14. UPS guy just dropped my copy of L.A. Noire :D This afternoon's gonna be fun fun fun!

  15. Review code? Isn't the game coming out in like august? Seems a bit early for reviews. I mean, why wouldn't they wanna use the next 2-3 months to polish it as much as they can? Also, am downloading it as well. Normally, I wouldn't. But in this case I can't help myself B)
  16. Hahahaha, true. It would be pretty amusing to see someone's thoughts evolve over the duration of their viewing of the show. I can easily imagine the posts getting less and less literate with every season as the levels of craziness increase. Fly was pretty good, especially for a bottle episode. But my favorites by far were "One Minute" and "Half Measure", if only for their last few minutes.
  17. Yeah, but wasn't the PSP kinda huge in Japan? I dunno, I just never considered to be that huge of a failure. At least not to the point of expecting them to distance themselves from the PSP name.
  18. Alright, the simple fact that this thread was dead last at the very bottom of this section tells me that nowhere near enough of you guys are watching this show! I am very disappoint. It's the best thing you'll ever watch, so get to it! For those of you who know what I'm talking about, have a nice season 4 trailer I can't embed it here, so you'll have to watch it on AICN http://www.aintitcool.com/node/49844
  19. I'm not crazy about the name Vita but it sounds much more normal to me than "Nintendo Wii" originally did, so I'm sure I'll get used to it in no time. I still don't get why they didn't just call it the PSP2, though.
  20. I normally don't sell or trade-in my games. Last time I did was God of War III after I had platinum'd it because I needed some cash, and I ended up eventually rebuying it. I never even unsealed the new copy... But yesterday I decided that my not owning and therefore being unable to play L.A. Noire could simply not go on anymore. So I went through my games and rounded up the few I was willing to part with. Most of them I never even finished or started, or will was never planning on playing again. Overall, it wasn't too bad a trade-off. The games I parted with were stuff like The Darkness, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and FFXII: Revenant Wings on DS. Oh and Guitar Hero 5, but without the guitar. I need that to play Rock Band Also a copy of Assassin's Creed II for 360, which is not even a system I own. Some idiot on Amazon sent it to me when I ordered the PS3 version last year and never asked for me to return it when he refunded me. The two biggest casualties sacrificed to the pawn shop deity were God of War: Chains of Olympus, which I'm confident will see a re-release as a HD Remaster, and Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, which I can rebuy for 15 bucks on PSN anytime I want.
  21. Never finished the first one either. Some of the later levels are just fucking impossible Like the one that has you removing blood clots and cleaning and suturing lesions all at once? Even when you do the pentagram time-slowing thingy it is nigh impossible. Oh man, it's been so long. I barely remember the level I was stuck on or what the procedure was even like. I vaguely recall something involving triangles and cutting? All I know is it was time-sensitive, so if I was too slow, stuff I had removed would grow back. I remember I'd always come close but it would inevitably just go to hell at the last second.
  22. Oh man, I knew that NG+ had an estimated 40% increase in difficulty, but holy shit! I did not expect to feel like I was level 1 all over again! I actually went through 1-1 without any trouble. It was fairly easy, though Phalanx didn't go down as quickly as I had expected. And I think that's what the problem was. I was overly careful during 1-1 because I needed to protect my 170K souls carried over from beating the game, and when I managed to make it through without losing them (or even dying once), I let my guard down. The reality check in 2-1 was pretty painful. Then I skipped ahead to 4-1 because I had spent a lot of time there in the previous run and figured I'd have an easier time beating it. Oh god how wrong I was... For a while there, it seemed as impossible as it did when I first played the game on release day. That was pretty demoralizing! Thankfully I soldiered on and eventually beat 2-1, and I actually went through 3-1 pretty easily. Haven't beat the Fool's Idol yet, though. And the black phantom right before her was a bit tricky. But yeah, this is turning out to be a bigger challenge than I had anticipated! I really need to raise my Endurance so I can start wearing some heavier armor and still be able to roll around like crazy. I've had most of my current gear since about midway through the first run, and it's really starting to feel like I need to replace it.
  23. Never finished the first one either. Some of the later levels are just fucking impossible
  24. I somehow missed your post when I replied, so I found that out the hard way. Bastard took 2-3 levels. Kicked his ass in the end, though! Really? I read that so long as I avoid dying in body form in a world, it should go pure white once I killed its archdemon. So shouldn't it be easy to achieve by simply suiciding in the nexus whenever I regain my body? Or am I missing something here?
  25. Demon's Souls! That's a big one to check off the backlog! I kinda regret taking so long to finish it, though. I regularly came across other player's ghosts, but only a handful of times per level. I remember playing on launch day and you'd see ghosts everywhere. Kinda wish I'd played more regularly when the game was more alive :/ Now it's time for New Game + and all the rage the higher difficulty will inevitably cause!
