    3DS

So you don't own a DS? Get a 3DS then, you'll have one of the most impressive gaming libraries in gaming history at your disposal, with a lot of great games on their way this year.
  2. See, I carry a sword and use fire destruction in my other hand. I've never had a problem with running out of magica, as usually my battles involve throwing a few fireballs their way as they run up to me, then finishing them off with a decapitation courtesy of a critical strike. I'm trying to get to level 50 (I'm at 44), for the trophy so I've been trying other combat techniques... sword plus shield, two handed sword, dual magic, conjuration, but nothing is as effective as sword + destruction, even when I was at lower levels. Just my two cents though. Though if I had to play this game any other way, it'd be sneaky with a bow and a dagger for backstabbing.
  3. I want to check Wikis! How am I suppose to look up useless crap?! America, sort out your crap!

Remember, remember the 18th of January. Wikis, homework and stress, I see no reason why SOPA and PIPA should be forgot.

      Good call, Dean!

It's a pity Wikipedia's featured article today is Nick Drake, one of my favourite songwriters. Unfortunately, few people see it. :(

  4. You need Shadowmere, go to the Dark Brotherhood quests, ASAP. That horse is amazing.
  5. 2012 is going to be a great year for RPG's. First we have Final Fantasy XIII-2, then we have Kingdoms of Amular: Reckoning, which looks fantastic. Then Mass Effect 3. After that there's still Dragon's Dogma, not to forget Skyrim DLC. That's all in the first half of the year too.

Plus, Guild Wars 2! (Unless you're not counting MMOs, but it's the only MMO I've ever taken an interest in if that counts for anything).

Dunno about ME3, but let's be optimistic, right?!

      Right?!?!

You forgot about The Last Story!

  6. I grabbed the demo, I thought about doing a status update about how awesome it is but I knew people would laugh at me and hurt my feelings But it was really good, I love that battle system, the QTE events were nice. The dialogue options were great, the side quests were fun and refreshing and the level design was great. I am excited! Does anyone know if the Ezio costume is coming to North America PS3?

    Fucking Kotaku

FDS, that's what I've been trying to say. And I agree, personally, I'm not into the cosplay either. But I do understand it and see it's place. Kotaku is a business, and they need clicks, so posting that stuff is good, if it actually gets them more clicks. At the end of the day, all they're doing is offering us a free service, so we're not really entitled to anything other than a choice what or what not to visit.

    Fucking Kotaku

Exactly! News... reviews... cheats (???).... design... and entertainment. As I was saying I don't think they ever had an obligation to present ONLY news. Obviously the Go Bots article was something that Luke felt the readers may be interested in. I wasn't, but judging by the decent amount of comments, I'd say he was right.

    Fucking Kotaku

All their articles are related to gaming culture. The lifestyle pieces don't bother me at all. They're not "Kotaku News", in fact it's "Kotaku - The Gamer's Guide". Have they ever claimed to be a "news site"? I've only heard them describe themselves as a gaming blog. Plus it's not nearly as bad as IGN posting "babeology".

From Stephen Totilo's twitter... "For the record, Kotaku Core was the brainchild of former Kotaku editorial director @joeljohnson."

I don't understand why people who don't want to read the cosplay etc articles just don't click them? Is scrolling past them that bad?
  12. It's what??? 5 minutes before the dragon attacks the city? I guess that depends how long you create your character for. COD4's intro really sets up the type of game it is, quick, exciting. Skyrim's intro sets up a long, epic, adventure. It represents what you're going to spend the next 100+ hours doing. It fits the experience well. The same thing as the first song of an album. Call of Duty is rock, so you're going to want to start the album with a heavy, fast song. Skyrim, on the other hand, is like a good Bob Dylan record, you're not going to get the fastest, poppiest song right away, you gotta work for it.
  13. COD's intro didn't have a dragon destroy an entire city. Skyrim's did. That's a 1000 times more interesting that a character we don't know, or ever see again (ok I've never actually played COD4 for more than the first 15 minutes...) getting assassinated.
  14. Just pre-ordered a 32GB card via Amazon.ca. EB Games didn't have 32 GB cards in their system. Good news though, for whatever reason the 32 GB card is being released a week early so it'll still have time to ship here before the 22nd. Thank goodness.
  15. My only problem with Minish Cap was that it was a bit too short, but to me it just reminded me of A Link to the Past (but, not as good, of course). You weren't forced to map your route out, you didn't have to repeat a dungeon over, and over, and over again (with a time limit, dammit), and you got to play the game with buttons! I really shouldn't comment on Minish Cap, it's been so long since I beat it, but I've just finished the first dungeon on 3DS and thought it was pretty good. Basically: this post has just turned into why I hate Phantom Hourglass, so much, so very, very much....
  16. Ugh Phantom Hourglass was so frustrating, especially considering how awesome the first four portable Zelda's were.
  17. They're not as bad as the Red Dead Redemption grizzly bears, who were all over the woods (even in the 1900's running into grizzly's weren't that common) and attacked everything in sight. As someone who deals with bears somewhat frequently: this is not how it happens. 99.9% of the time, they'll run away before you're even aware of them. Skyrim, on the other hand, is in a magical world of elves and dragons, so I'll cut them some slack!!
  18. PS3 of course! If it ain't on PS3, I don't play it (.......unless it's on Wii/3DS/PSP).
  19. Craig Ferguson likes it, so that's enough for me!
  20. That's true! Her dancing is so terrible, it makes me angry. But her legs... oh her legs... Um anyways-- yeah moving on.
  21. I can't decide if I hate this girl or want to make sweet, sweet, love with her.
  22. I've seen (parts of) two episodes, both Christmas episodes, one was with the latest doctor, something about an airplane pilot in WW2, and the other (which came on right after) seemed like the first episode with the 10th doctor. It had a Christmas tree that started spinning around breaking stuff. I liked the latest doctor episode much better. But considering I'll probably have a hard enough time understanding the accents (my grandpa is Scottish... it took me till I was about 13 to understand what he was saying... it's tough, OK?!), I'll probably started with the 9th doctor, and work my way up, giving me the best shot of understanding what's going on.
  23. Ok people! My girlfriend wants to watch Doctor Who, but I have no idea where to start with. I know the show kind of starts over every now and then... do we pick it up with the revival from a few years ago? Or do we start with this latest Doctor? (I really just want to watch the cute red headed Scottish girl.)
  24. I voted DS3, as it's the ultimate evolution of the SNES (and therefor NES) controller. I like the sticks layout, having the d-pad swapped on the 360 controller never made sense to me, I like the triggers better on the DS3 as well. Having a little bit of motion control AND rumble is great too. Hopefully Sony doesn't ever feel the need to mess with it again!
  25. Maybe it's because I'm trying to do a bunch of small tasks for the thieves guild, but this is really starting to annoy me...... Loading. I understand, it's a huge game, load screens are inevitable. But when I want to go to the Thieves Guild, do I really need to leave the building I'm in, loading screen, fast travel to Riften, loading screen, push the button, loading screen, finally in 1/2 of the Thieves Guild (and better hope the person I want to talk to is in that part). If load screens are this long, why not let me fasttravel out of a shop in Whiterun, to the inside of places like Dragonsreach, the Thieves Guild, College of Winterhold, etc etc???
