4th Annual PXOD Secret Santa! -- Targets Assigned
danielpholt replied to TheMightyEthan's topic in Event Planning
Hey, I know I'm a little late for this, but if you guys need one more to round it out to 18, sign me up. -
Snowpiercer Really enjoyable film here, but unfortunately it gets a bit bogged down in its final act. That aside, certainly one of the more enjoyable new releases this year. Great cast, interesting setting and some very nice shots. Shame about the somewhat iffy CGI but that didn't ruin it for me.

Had it on pre-order, but Amazon fucked up, so I was planning on grabbing it from work this morning. However I caught my parents watching my brothers copy last night, and all of a sudden I've lost all urge to revisit it.

You're forgetting that Ethan doesn't like fun.

We should be were expecting to be playing it around now weren't we? The game's shaping up to be fantastic, I just hope people aren't expecting Polish Skyrim..

Maybe a review? I'm not sure if it's worth me picking the game up. I enjoy CIV, but...do I really need to spend £30 to get 'Civ in Space'...

I think the events of Tuesday night (See Hot Heart's post above) have ruined Destiny for me. I've not been on it since (longest streak since launch day), and I can't summon any motivation to play it. I might just be done... It's not that I didn't enjoy myself to some degree, I'm just asking myself 'Why would I do this..AGAIN, for another armour upgrade', that part of the game has lost me, and that's basically what Destiny is. I'll probably jump back in when the expansions hit; but for now I think I'm over Destiny.

Watched Panic Room the other night and..she's actually good; enjoyable almost. I was amazed. My last good film: Carnage. I greatly under appreciated comedy. One of my favourites from the last 5 years for sure.

I've got a non-PXOD friend to hop in with us. He's beaten the early stages of VoG so he should be a worthy addition.

I'm still running with one character, although I'm really tempted to start playing as a Titan for a while; although I worry that with Bayonetta 2 and a few other games about to hit, I won't get a chance to play it that character up-to a worthwhile level. Also I finally got level 2 Vanguard stature. I don't know how it took me so long (I do - Patrol missions are boring).

She was solid in Adventureland and that film with Emile Hirsch when he goes and lives in the forest for a bit before he dies (no idea on the name - It's about that Supertramp fellow).
-
I have serious reservations about calling K Stewart a 'Bankable Star'. I don't dislike her as an actress, but I really don't think she's capable of drawing in a massive crowd.
-
When did Tom Cruise turn into box-office trash? I can't help but think the fact that it was a science fiction film was more damaging than Tom Cruise. I know what you're saying; but I still think Tom Cruise is okay. I enjoyed Oblivion.

As far as I know I'm free all evening. Like I said, I'm staying a friends house and I'll be on my own; the only question mark is their internet connection. It should be all right, but who knows.

Three games on the go at the same time? That's my idea of hell. Any more than 2 at a time and I start to lose the thread; get bored and end up not finishing either. I just finished The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. I'm probably a tiny bit disappointed, but that's only because I'd heard some truly wonderful things about it. I had a good time with the game; but I'm not sure It's my game of the year or anything. I'll definitely keep an eye out for The Astronauts next game though.

I'll clear my schedule then? Tuesday at 9GMT?

Edge of Tomorrow Emily Blunt. Tom Cruise. Time...travel?. Awesome war suits. Aliens. Pretty CGI. Maggot. This was a really really good film; which comes as a surprise as fucking nobody saw it. Go watch it. It's really good.

*Googles Birdman UK release date...* JANUARY 2nd!!!! This is why people pirate films ffs.

My Neighbors the Yamadas. I actually really enjoyed this for the first hour or so. I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but it surprised me both with its art style and it's method of storytelling; it's just a little too long to earn itself a 3/5 (I consider that above average/good).
-
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Still a little unsure to be honest. I've put maybe 2 hours into the game; I'm having fun, but at the same time I wish the game was a tiny bit more helpful with regards to clues and the like. I spent 20 minutes looking for a rock previously, and that was just frustrating. That being said, the story has me hooked; and it looks and sounds incredible.

Guys, I've had the sudden; uncontrollable urge to re-do the Lord of the Rings. Somebody talk me out of it. I know its madness.....but.
-
That works out fairly well for me too. I'm looking after a friends house so I'll have all night to play if needs be.

Gone Girl. My only complaint is that the opening 30 or so minutes drags a little. That aside, It's a highly enjoyable thriller with good performances from the two leads, and some great performances from the rest of the gang. I thought Kim Dickins was fantastic as the lead investigator. Hopefully this'll get her some attention as she's universally fantastic in everything she's been in. Dat soundtrack also.
