  1. Takin' a break from Game Grumps for a bit since my 'I can't stand watching people be so bad at video games (especially intentionally)' meter just exploded during Kirby Super Star.

It's not a Grumps issue specifically, as watching even my roommate play for a couple minutes on my way to the kitchen can make me bristle.

For the most part, they come across as competent and then there'll just be a breakdown (sometimes it is Jon, sometimes it is Arin).

And then there is the times where the breakdown is immediate because they didn't/don't pay attention to an onscreen prompt or what have you then complain in a somewhat obnoxious way (that bugs me a lot).

It seems like at press conferences and stuff the people that have playing the games for the demos are always really bad, and that bothers me a lot too.

  2. Got one of my friends his birthday/Christmas gifts really early (his birthday is December 26th and I'm not gonna be one of those people who gives one gift and is like 'It's for both days!').
  3. Honestly, the rotating sink add on is just a damn good idea in general that ought to be the standard. Huge ass skylight seems like it might be a pain to clean though.
  4. We're going places, W&S. We're going places.
  5. I really love Shinkiro's artwork. Zangief's in the corner all like WHOOOOOOOOA SHIT! while E. Honda looks like he just ripped one and Zangief's about to get a mouthful of it. And for some reason, Evil Ryu looks happier to be there than regular Ryu.
  6. I was doing them a favor, speeding them along to their precious God!
  7. Man, the frame the embedded video has is completely misleading (ooooh sinful thoughts!). There's been a strange abundance of Jehovah's Witness activity in my area lately. Got three door to door ones last week just cruising around in their SUVs.
  8. The Prince of Persia wall running felt pretty tacked onto me, as did the 'Death doesn't block because he doesn't think anyone could ever hit him lol' thing. I think my biggest beef with Darksiders 2 is the arbitrary RPG elements, especially the loot system. It never felt like I was getting more powerful throughout the game, just that I was barely keeping pace with enemies and nothing bugs me like hoping I'll get a drop that is only slightly better than what I was using (I'm more of the school of Iron Sword -> Steel Sword -> Bronze Sword etc. etc. linear progression). Once I got a possessed fist weapon that I could slap health regen abilities onto, I just said 'fuck it!'.
  9. Things I've bought so far... Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Enhanced Edition Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Borderlands 2's DLC (all of it!) Ether Vapor Remastered Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Kung Fu Strike Mars War Logs Organ Trail: Director's Cut Strike Suit Zero (and the Hero of the Fleet/Raptor DLCs) System Shock 2 Games I've received recently... (Because I said I would give just about any game a fair shake.) Vidya games!
  10. I would say the statute of limitations on spoilers for me is between six months and a year. Being a writer (and just being well aware of tropes and conventions), I'm not too bothered by spoilers because seldom do the Tweests™ surprise me. Hell, sometimes a spoiler can just make me anticipate the moment because spoilers typically don't describe things in detail. As for the article, I'm pretty sure everyone present has been in that position too. Like Ethan said, it's the nature of the beast. Not just in video games but in all forms of media.
  11. One of my buddies runs a business repairing handhelds and he's been on the look out for a 3DS XL for me. Finally snagged one the other day, so celebrate my acquisition... And because I was gonna get it anyways... Might as well use some of my Amazon credit to preorder it.
  12. "Second screen gaming is the future!" Says Ubisoft. Weren't motion controls supposed to be the future? Hell, what was the future before that? I forgot.

Does having a laptop open to the game's wiki count? Cause if so I've been second-screen gaming RPGs for years.

It's usually stuff more specifically tied into the game. An "older" example would be the Auction House app for WoW. Watch_Dogs is getting one. There's Battlelog too I guess.

  13. On one hand, these seems like something that was a little too obvious to miss, even if you were ignoring all the trends of last gens (current gen? Whatever!). On the other, that's what happens when you decide to not pay attention to your competition.
  14. http://freethoughtblogs.com/pharyngula/2013/07/04/imagine-if-an-atheist-jumped-onto-a-christian-monument-as-it-was-being-dedicated/ This popped up in my Facebook feed today. People still pay attention to Hovinds? Really?
  15. If you've got your PSP running custom fireware (oh noes!), I hear they made a fix for that slowdown and the audio issues.
  16. I guess it was only a matter of time before the tide of inclusion came crashing against Nintendo's door.

      Mr. GOH!

Nintendo made Samus a girl when it was cool to see a pixelated woman in a pixelated bikini as a reward for finishing a game quickly.

Oh yeah, I forgot that's how it was revealed... :/

  17. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/125523-Xbox-One-Designed-With-Advertising-in-Mind Can we just start lining up marketing executives so they can systematically be punched in the chops or something?
  18. I wonder if we'll eventually see MS consistently allow free DLC. Seems like that would be one of the things that would come with this path.
  19. I enjoyed the dynamic Jon and Arin had, but on the other hand, I don't mind Danny. Though it helps that he's pretty good at games so I don't have to shush that voice in my head going 'GOD STOP SUCKING AT GAMES SO BAD!' issue that I have with watching other people play games (hence why I generally don't).
  20. I think the only thing I really miss about Kotaku is the Moneysaver articles. I suppose I can start paying attention to Cheap Ass Gamer, but it was certainly convenient for me at the time.
  21. Pretty much this exactly. I assume every stranger I meet while playing any sort of online game is a jackass griefer fresh from his tenure at Killjoy University.
  22. I'm excited at what the game looks to be offering...minus the part about fighting other players, which is pretty much a dealbreaker for me if it's mandatory.

My stance on trans people is 'I acknowledge and respect your desire for your identity to be whatever fucking gender you want to be/think you are/whatever, but demanding everyone navigate the Labyrinth you've constructed around simply saying hello to someone or conversing with them' is completely ridiculous. I also agree that I can't take someone seriously if they say 'cis' or feminism' to me.
  24. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/194571/Video_Sexism_and_sexuality_in_games.php I liked most of this speech, but I'm not so sure I care for how Gaider just kind of glosses over the reception for the romances in DA2.
