  1. It reads like someone who seriously bought into the hype machine, if only because of the usage of 'We have a machine for people who want an offline experience!' line.
  2. http://spong.com/article/29872/Microsoft-Were-Still-Heading-for-an-Xbox-One-Digital-Future Meanwhile, at Microsoft...
  3. Randomly decided to splurge a little and buy some 360 games.
  4. I'd say a toss up between FF6 and FF7. Third place goes to FFIX. I'm not sure how I'd feel about an FF6 remake, especially considering how Terra was portrayed in Dissidia. Too much like 3rd Birthday Ada Brea for my liking. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go cry myself to sleep because I remembered 3rd Birthday exists.
  5. I get the feeling that FFXII was picked specifically because it was a PS2 game rather than what popular demand.
  6. http://gematsu.com/2013/06/kitase-interested-in-more-final-fantasy-hd-remasters Kitase, just...ugh. YOU WERE DOING SO WELL UNTIL THE END! Why would you ruin it!?
  7. If you've played Dragon Age: Origins, you've experienced a slower version of FFXII. Personally, I miss the ATB system or even whatever FFX's system was. Oh thank goodness. For the longest time, I never encountered anyone I knew that didn't have the same beefs I have with FFXIII's combat. I wanted to like the battle system, but I couldn't get behind 'it's got menu based combat, but it's fast like an action game...so just use auto-battle for optimal moves!'. The hell is the point of this when trying to be strategic basically gets your shit wrecked? In terms of the setting, all the locations looked nice (even some of the corridors), but I wasn't really enamored with the world itself. Unless the overall point was that it didn't really feel 'alive' was the goal... Character-wise, Sazh was the only character I actively liked by the end of the game. I was neutral toward Snow the entire time. Hope started out obnoxious then got better toward the end. Lightning felt really stereotypically 'tough anime female' (I know, I know. Japanese game!). Everything Fang said and did just rubbed me the wrong way. Something about her mannerisms and behavior just kind of grated my nerves. And Vanille? Everything with Vanille in it was awful.
  8. Always kind of amused by Zelda fans. "What!? He had grievances with Wind Waker!? He must just hate the art style!"

Can we talk about Ethan dissing Majora's Mask? THE HELL!?!?!?!??!?!?!

  9. Hey, I'm with you! I have to wait for Monday or Tuesday before my copy gets to me.
  10. I thought it made sense too, but to see Microsoft try to do it when they don't have the same kind of reputation as Valve? I personally think the spiel about games being cheaper is just someone trying to feed me a line.
  11. Picked up The Last of Us today myself.
  12. Two things that came up in my news feed today. http://www.neowin.net/news/anonymous-xbox-engineer-explains-drm-and-microsofts-xbox-one-intentions and
  13. A friend of mine (same one who told me to watch Tekkaman Blade) showed me some Super Robot Wars footage yesterday and somehow managed to convince me to pick up Godannar. Giant robots with jiggle physics and titty machine guns! What in the world is drawing me to this and why can I not resist the allure?
  14. It's not just stealth games that have this issue if you ask me, but I am a guy who actually hates how generically Danny Elfman game music is nowadays.
  15. There's unconfirmed rumors going around via NeoGAF that Microsoft is pulling the typical 'throw money at it' strategy for E3. I'd say it seems doubtful, but then again, so did the need for 24 hour check ins and used game DRM.
  16. Glorious zombie murder and survival.
  17. Yeah, I've got one who side of the family who's all "we know guys in the government, and they're doing [X completely insane thing]." Kinda poisoned me to that claim. "There was a full-scale Muslim terrorist invasion of New Orleans under the cover of Katrina! They had marines defending oil refineries against waves and waves of them!" Riiiiiiiight... Horde mode!
  18. I expect GameFly to just kind of...shrug and move on. It really is about all they can do in this scenario. It's kind of sad though. Had Microsoft just dropped the 'you must check in every 24 hours' and the whole used game thing, I'd have shifted back toward being relatively interested. Instead, it just solidified my end goal of 'buy a PS4 and a Wii U, call it good'.
  19. That's fine, I'd be an awful president. I'd be a great dictator though.
  20. W&S does exactly what I do. Only probably with less self-hate than me (because let me tell you, I hate being even half black).
  21. Just tried out the State of Decay demo and I gotta say...it really hit all the right notes with me. Definitely on my To Buy list.
  22. I mean this more in the sense of that I'm just tired of people completely failing to properly pick and choose their battles and instead go after EVERYTHING. I think it just dilutes the whole thing. Even if the Thief were sexist (I personally don't think it's a sexist design so much as it's sexualized/fetishistic), isn't it just a little too late to be upset about it? Do people really think Capcom would go and redraw the character and sprites over it? Like I said, the game is 17 years old. That's an awfully stupid battle to pick. Apparently it is to D&D players. Which is really ironic if you ask me. Frankly, I think it is not much different from Black Widow or the typical femme fatale in a spy catsuit.
  23. I just watched the D&D facebook page lose its collective shit over the artwork for the Thief in D&D: Shadows over Mystara with the usual cries of 'it's sexist!', all the variants of 'low female fantasy armor', a heaping of 'that's not D&D at all!' (have they never looked through the artwork of a given D&D book?) and 'Who cares if it's an old game, they're releasing it during a period where people are more aware of social gender biases! They should retool the game accordingly!'. Over a game that is 17 years old. They have since taken the post down and just re-directed people toward Capcom's Unity page. Can this whole sexism in video games thing be over with? Please?
  24. "Indie games are the future of games!" So wait, they're going to become well-known, profitable and thus not indie?

There is nothing about the term indie that states they cannot become well-known and profitable. Plenty of non-indie titles fit that anyway.

as long as the term doesn't become as bad as it has in music.

I agree with Dean. Minecraft is well known, profitable and Indie. As is Thomas Was Alone, Limbo, Braid, and many others. In fact, I'd argue that it's a lot easier for an indie title to be profitable than a AAA EA published one.

As far as revenue goes, yeah, an indie will never get up there with FIFA and CoD in terms of revenue. But, all indies together vs all AAA together will get a lot closer.

  25. Sigh... and that kind of attitude is exactly why we have inflated scores in the first place. Seriously, anything below 7 is bad? What the hell? It's not like a numerical score alone means much... If only the rest of the industry could wrap their minds around the concept. I've played a lot of games that are considered bad (Alpha Protocol, Brutal Legend, Bionic Commando 2009) that I found to be really enjoyable. But then again, I'm exceeding difficult to put off when it comes to video games. Some would say my standards are low. Maybe they're right! Who knows! Odds are pretty good that I'll like Remember Me though. They be jelly over how awesome my ability to have fun with something is.
