If it's not 68 degrees in my apartment, it's frickin' 78! I swear, these roommates never want to keep the place at 72/73.

If for some reason you missed the first two episodes of Legend of Korra, and have iTunes, they're free in HD for a limited time. My guess is it's just for today.

So I learned today that no matter how well you take care of your PS3, because the solders are tin based, it's only a matter of time before you YLOD. I would assume it's dependent on how often you play, but eventually current generation consoles will simply break. At least that's what I was told today when talking to the repair shop.

I doubt it, but after some more research a Wii could last longer than a PS3. It's all about heat and time, and I don't need to find any numbers to know that a PS3 gets hotter than a Wii.

This also heavily contributed to the RROD, though there were also some manufacturing faults with the actual soldering. Yay, environmental regs that require products to be faulty!

Crisis averted! Through some more searching, I found a highly rated console repair shop within a reasonable driving distance. I called to ask the usual questions and the repair would only take 5-7 days! Not to mention I only have to pay $60, and extra if I want a warranty.

Hah? That's awesome, but I wonder what went wrong with it... If a chip came loose like many 360s I can't imagine a small shop fixing it, but I guess all kinds of things can happen to a power supply

Man I wish I could find a shop like that
I've been wanting to get my (probably) soon to YLOD PS3, but Sony's online support site won't recognize my serial number.

Oh crap, my PS3 isn't turning on. Last night it shut off by itself, but I figured it had overheated. Today I was on it for about 10 minutes and it shut off again. Now it doesn't powers up for a second and turns off. I'm trying to find answers, but everything online leads to something else. What do I do?

I had to send my launch Wii back when SSBB came out because it wouldn't read dual-layered disks... To their credit it was free and they even replaced all the hinges and cleaned it up a bit, so whatever.

My brother's Wii fucked itself up by overheating (something apparently the early ones were prone to do if you just let them go to sleep rather than actually turning them off) so now there are little matrix artifacts all over the screen.

Yep, you'll lose all your data if it's a severe enough problem. I talked with a service rep and even he said this was a severe case. I will still have all my PSN stuff since it's tied to my account, but all my saves are pretty much gone. Well, all the saves from 9 months ago.
