  1. While I get where you're coming from, there's a simple answer. Airbending training/exposure! We had a large focus on firebending with the last season of The Last Airbender, to the point Aang and Zuko went to learn from dragons. Considering we have progressed in the timeline decades later, obviously airbending is making its comeback (as little as it may be at first). It isn't discussed yet, but more flying bison (Oogi, Ep. 1) were found and while Momo is a winged lemur, Aang later found the ring-tailed winged lemur (Ep. 2) species. Book One: Air of Legend of Korra is going to settle this early on without the need to sidetrack to, "Such and such, and that is what happened with Aang." I don't mind it, especially since we're getting to actually see the fundamentals of airbending. Aang was a natural at airbending to the point he could think it, then do it. It's what set him apart to where, you know, his masters knew then he was the Avatar.
  2. Very stressful day, what with the fire alarms going off twice in the complex, registering for classes, jumping through a few hoops to even apply for some, not to mention trying to contact people for possible internships.

  3. Reminds me I need to install that ponies wallpaper with the moving sprites. I had the Android wallpaper version, though it was designed by someone else, but it's still in its beta stage because it was kinda buggy.
  4. Well, here's what gets me: Alien + Ninja = ??? With superhero series, and particularly 90's animated shows featuring mutation (i.e. Street Sharks, Spider-Man, X-Men), having mutated turtles (of a teenage age) who were taught ninjutsu by a mutated rat seems more digestible than an intergalactic turtle-humanoid species developing ninjutsu and landing on Earth, for whatever plot. Yeah, they seem about equally absurd, but we've been condition to accept mutation as a reasonable plot device for the last few decades.
  5. You're missing the point, completely. It's not an issue of, "Oh, how outrageous is this?" but that "Teenage Mutant" is the very descriptive of the turtles. "Ninja Turtles" is, as you're saying, could be anything... and that's the problem. It would be like turning Transformers into cyborgs from Japan rather than "robots in disguise" from Cybertron. You're completely taking a dump on the very plot of the series as well, because believe it or not, them being mutants rather than aliens makes a megaton of differences. Much like Shredder being a frickin' alien in the last animated series. Oh, but it's just outrageous. Call me looney, but I do care a bit about the turtles, whether they're the ones from the source material (comic book) or animated series.
  6. The first DLC came out today on PSN, and without knowing about the following schedule, I instantly payed the $2. Thoughts afterwards... http://www.gametrailers.com/video/dlc-trailer-asuras-wrath/728529 Yeah, anyway, I sorta wish I didn't exactly pay for this considering the actual extension to the game comes out later. The current DLC, Episode 11.5, is a half-stylized, half-assed anime cutscene. I like what it's trying to depict, but there are sequences that even I could draw better. Of course, the money I used was part of my Best Buy Rewards certificate. (Was hoping to save up for Mass Effect 3 epilogue, but it looks like there will be two epilogues to look forward to.)
  7. Double Post of Justice! Straight off the bat I love this series! The first half of Book One: Water in The Last Airbender was difficult to swallow because it was focused on applying only to kids. Can't really blame them because the show was on Nickelodeon, but a cartoon series can easily rise above that single focus. Eventually it got intense with some serious business and that's when I began to watch The Last Airbender any time I could on television. It probably helps that the characters introduced thus far apply to each cartoon viewing demographic. Korra and those dudes (forgot their names already) are teenaged, but can appeal to an older demographic. It was a smart decision to feature those airbending kids as they'll appeal to the younger ones. Quite frankly, I've gotten a lot of laughs out of them too. Oh, and Ethan, in this series they explain the "difficulty in X bending" as a personality trait. Last series did, as I remember it, chalk it up to opposing styles of bending, but I think what was planned is that Korra needs to face an obstacle/challenge. Something for the plot to focus on other than "gettin' air powers, kickin' butt." In a way, she was able to instantly use three types of bending. Not perfectly mind you, but then again Aang couldn't handle Earth and Fire too well. Only gripe I've had thus far is how some chronology (you're so and so, etc) comes off a bit forced. It's nice for the fans, but it kinda rubbed me the wrong way when Korra was like, "Oh, hey, you're Toph's daughter!" Though I gotta admit, I loved when they trolled us about Zuko's mother. EDIT: Oh, I kinda like how Korra doesn't straight out say she's the Avatar. I remember Aang would always be like, "Never fear, the Avatar is here!" It's probably more of an age thing since Korra does eventually reveal herself... after toying with the subject.
  8. Well crap, the two episodes only debuted for the weekend! I was going to watch it last night, but I didn't have as much time as I do tonight. I guess I could see if anyone ripped the episodes off the site... (If anyone wants to help, feel free!)
  9. Didn't GBA games cost $30 back in the day? I'm thinking of getting a sealed copy of this game that's $35. I could get the entire package used for $15, but I do like my things new.

According to http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ $99 in 2001 is the equivalent of $127 now. $30 in 2001 is the equivalent of $39 now.

It's odd how games are simultaneous much more expensive and cheaper in different forms.

Yeah, N64 games were $70 in 1996, converted to today's dollars that puts them at $101.57. My mind boggles.

  10. Never ignore a mans1ayer video! Anywho, I'm really getting pissed at the multiplayer as of late. There's nothing like applying equipment (ammo bonus, etc) just to have someone disconnect and the whole game fall apart because the servers can't reestablish the current wave. What a waste of credits, right? I actually had a match where the multiplayer was handled like the single player. I was dropped into one of the maps, though my character was in midair and invisible. The map was partially completed and the pause menu was like the single player pause menu. It was the weirdest thing... Otherwise, I've begun to loathe the upgrading process because the only weapons that upgrade are the basic ones. Not to mention I find the "random unlocking appearance" to be dumb. Seriously, my Turian Soldier hits Lv. 20 and the pack I buy finally gives me the option for a second color for that specific character. It's not a bad multiplayer, but again, this all reeks of padding. Having it affect single player, random chance to have upgrades after playing matches that can range from 20 to 30 minutes. Upgrades that really shouldn't be upgrades. Was there no confidence that people would take a chance on it?
  11. I know about it, it's why I compared it to the other character. After I completed my game, I looked at alternative scenes like the Wrex-Wreav difference, so I got a chance to see some choices affected by Mass Effect 2.
  12. Judging by your previous comment, you let
  13. Obviously I liked this episode, what with Fluttershy being my favorite. Probably one of the better confidence stories in cartoons given that "every bit counts." Usually it's a cliche where the character somehow enters God Mode and then they have confidence. Fluttershy may have still been the slowest, but she did her best and helped everyone achieve the minimum. YEEAAAHHHH!!!
  14. OH HOLY CRAP! I took the time to read up on the Indoctrination Theory, and I'll post a video with the reasons (ones we've noticed) in the spoiler tag, but there's a reason why the "Perfect Ending" is The only downside to this is that it would seem like Bioware is banking on "fandom." Much like the idea that Javik, a Prothean, is DLC is because he is a Prothean. The mysterious race we've only read about. Don't you want to pay $10 for this? So when the
  15. This game was worth the $15, and I've only done one journey. This is a fantastic and true artistic game! It is something that I would want to show others that have doubts about games being a medium for art. Just the first area alone was stunning. I tried my best to collect all the glowing artifacts, but part of me didn't want to ruin the experience by treating this like a fetch quest. I didn't know if you could die in this game, and in fact there feels like there are a few unknowns, but it is a journey. I actually had moments of tension from this game, and the ending really got to me. Like, all of it! Supposedly I met seven companions, though I only noticed/played with three people. Definitely some different play styles. My first companion, we were partners. My second must have been on some odd number of journeys already, or he was really impatient with the small scarf he had. The third was a mix of the two, but considering we were at the ending, it's understandable if him or I were ahead or one another. We both made it, pinging as if singing. Absolutely brilliant! 10/10!
  16. Got $20 in rewards at Best Buy; any upcoming games to look out for? Nothing really comes to mind for the next few months as Bioshock Infinite and AC3 will be Fall 2012. If anything, I could get a movie.

Next game I'm interested in is Darksiders 2 in June, unless Quantum Conundrum comes out before then.

I take that back, I'm a little interested in Dragon's Dogma, though I'm waiting to see reviews before I decide.

  17. What's even funnier is this is accurate to something Bobby would do, thus Hank flipping out over "H'what have become of our boys?" Might as well post this too. Non-creepy 8-bit voice version. Also, use 240p for nostalgia 8-bit sound. 720p makes it too crisp and clear.
  18. We talking about CPC refusing to be associated with these guys, or the potential change of the ending itself? Cos It has been done before. Though the Fallout 3 issue was 4 years ago, I guess dull in the mind now, and Portal was just changed pretty much "just cos", no fan pressure or ruckus like there is now. Me3 is just "big" cos it's a current topic. Yes there have been changes to endings before, but this one has been explosive. Fallout 3 was an ending for a single game, but even then I don't remember nearly this much media coverage and outcry from fans. Portal was changed because it needed to tie in better with the sequel's synopsis, a.k.a. Chell was still at Aperture. No big whoop really because there wasn't much of an ending. Mass Effect 3's ending is an ending to what's considered one of the industry's epic tales, a trilogy with choices and outcomes affecting three separate games. Fallout 3 had dialogue options, but it's only to Fallout 3. What's one of the major complaints about Mass Effect 3's ending? Of course you already know all that, so what I'm saying is that while other games have had endings changed, this magnitude isn't simply because it's "current," but there's a large outcry over "these endings." Again, this is more so a series ending than just a standalone ending for one game. It's Fallout 3, but tenfold (if not more). Were these discussions taking place as frequently and as passionately? Did developers and fans butt heads over press releases, statements contrary to what is the "consumer's right" or "artistic integrity?" Fallout 3 is only being mentioned as a "hey, others have changed endings," but Mass Effect 3 is going to be used for much more like, "hey, remember your responsibility to me the fan?" I dunno, refresh my memory, but I don't remember nearly this much heat and frustration from something like a highly popular series ending. Heck, Killzone 3 had a really terrible ending, but not much was done but complaining online. Mass Effect 3 has a confusing, short, and illogical ending and it's international news.
  19. Then I got nothing other than a few comments on that page saying it somehow is a "legal" matter. Well, I do have something, but it's not grounded on anything firm nor conclusive: Penny Arcade simply doesn't want to be associated with the movement. They had to give an excuse, but it comes down to association. Obviously Penny Arcade has made their statements on the matter, which I think do hold weight in common practice. This is something else and something massive. It will be a cornerstone on the practice of consumer relations in the industry from here on out. No matter one's position, you can't deny this is something huge for the industry.
  20. Are any of the Retake Mass Effect members also fans that filed FTC complaints? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's involving politics. It's a large exaggeration to be applied for the Retake Mass Effect movement, but it did make international headlines.
  21. It's probably when you finish her loyalty mission and get more in-depth into her motives for becoming a Justicar. Truth be told it was my second to last loyalty mission as I didn't care too much for Samara.

  23. UGH! Some wannabe band has been playing outside for the last three hours. It's all this mellow "get girls" music with barely any lyrics. Some chords and "Ooooooooohh eeeewwwww uuuuhhhhhhh yeeaaaaahhh."

  24. Benefit of getting the PS3 version of ME2 was every DLC minus Arrival (and cosmetic stuff). While Kasumi wasn't like other teammates while on the Normandy, I liked her ME2 loyalty mission. Even used her as the tech expert in the Collector Base. I didn't want to chance losing my sweet Tali. Not to mention Kasumi had some neat dialogue for the short time she was around in ME3. Honestly, for a deeply depressing plot with little chance of success, I would get chuckles and straight up laughter out of some characters. EDIT: Not sure why this has to be spoiler tagged exactly as there's nothing "revealing" about it, but consistency!
