  1. ICEE what you did there, FlyingGerbil.
  2. Screw my last status, I just learned that drinking soda can accelerate aging! http://www.rodale.com/facts-about-soda-0

Its cool. Men age like wine anyways.

Here I thought I had VD! I'm so thankful it's only too much soda making it itch.

  3. Those moments when you become an accidental Grammar Nazi. "No, it's MAY I help you." :X

  4. Considering that my church is called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the idea that Christ is rejected as the source of salvation is laughable. Yeah, you're talking to a Mormon, or more accurately a Latter-day Saint, here. B) But believe what you will as you have the freedom to, and I don't come online to have in-depth religious debates as I get enough of those offline. As for my last paragraph, there isn't much contention with Catholics now, but it was an issue decades ago and some people hold onto their ideals of a "perfect" President. Back in 2008 I had people talking my ear off about how the President needs to be a Protestant, even to the extent of a specific sect. You can probably classify them as extremists, but they're out there as I've come face to face with them.
  5. It's suppose to be that way Dean, but there are members of various sects that treat Christianity as a sort of dick-measuring game. If you don't meet some arbitrary criteria, you're classified as a "cult" or simply a "non-Christian." I could fill a novel on the antics some of the Baptist kids in my high school would commit themselves too. Didn't help that all (but one) of the teachers were spineless and wouldn't control the ongoing harassment. As far as politics, you're partially right with the "right kind of Christian" as there are individuals who have this idealized version of a President. John F. Kennedy, one of the greatest Presidents, had to overcome being Catholic during his election, and to this day there are still people who get upset about Catholics and other non-Protestants in political offices. As if they're corrupting the country from the inside, or some other rubbish.
  6. Mormonism is a sect of Christianity, but Romney was (and is) getting the same flack as Obama has from Evangelical ministers for being a "false Christian" and so forth. Given that he's the last hope for a Republican president, anti-Mormons have been letting it slide. Essentially a "lesser of the two evils" scenario.
  7. I'm seriously going to try and get back into anime. The local FYE was having a "Store Closing Sale" and all the Fullmetal Alchemist Blu-rays were gone. I found other animes, but I've never watched them. It's not every day you get 40% off of... anything.
  8. Asura's Wrath and Mass Effect 2 in the mail tomorrow! I know Asura's Wrath has been getting average reviews, but it's still a unique game and that's worth $50 to me.

      Game looks interesting enough.

    3. WTF

      WTF

I got Binary Domain since it's the first game that likes to troll me by voice. It recognises every word I say that it asks me to except for Fuck which it says it doesn't recognise. Besides Asura's Wrath and TM hit next month.

      Saturnine Tenshi

The demo for Asura's Wrath hardly had me playing the game more than I was engaging (hah) in a long string of QTE's.

  9. I think your right FDS. I couldn't remember if this was one of those "death is your friend" kinda games. I mean, there's trial and error, but I usually don't associate the error aspect with death; just that the error is the puzzle doesn't work. There were a good amount of times I was just tinkering with objects instead of dying. I would say I died more by electrocution and saw blades. Those saw blades...
  10. The majority of it is just fine, but I do take issue where at times you're left to the game's progression rather than its puzzles. If I'm going to die, it's because I didn't do the puzzle right, not because I couldn't predict something. Of the the 40 chapters in the game, only a handful felt a bit cheap. I mean, it wasn't until about Chapter 33 where things got challenging. Definitely when it started to involved more physics and even the littlest hiccup can mean death. It's not like I'm butthurt because there's a game out there that makes me think. I certainly wouldn't be a fan of Catherine if that were the case.
  11. For example, when you need to use a box to obtain another box even though you were perfectly able to navigate through most of the puzzle with a single box. Now you have to either die to restart the chapter or drag the box back through obstacles the opposite direction. There was another one where you had to first move a cart slightly to the left because at the end of the puzzle you needed to land on it as the ground would actually become electrified. You basically have to die a few times to properly prepare for some puzzles is where I'm getting at. As a general rule, I would drag boxes as long as I could just in case I needed to use them again.
  12. Limbo It was alright, but I'm not a fan of games that require foresight into puzzle solving. There isn't much of a story, and quite frankly I think people took it too serious. Not that it's a joke, but I didn't get the impression that everything was dripping with symbolism and metaphor. Quite frankly, I think the kid was dreaming while he was out searching for his sister. And, when... Basically, a black n' white Alice in Wonderland.
  13. In time for the third game (when it arrives Tuesday). Went on a little odyssey with this one to where I eventually ended up home and on Amazon. At least I signed up for Amazon Student, so yay for free two-day shipping!
  14. While I linked to IGN, other sites have published nearly an exact story. If anything, it's first impressions of what was revealed by Bethesda themselves. I don't have any kind of vendetta with Bethesda, but the whole thing just seems fishy on their end. When "small percentage" is used, it doesn't seem like a big deal. What's small though? 5%? 10%? 15%? Obviously it was a large enough problem to where Bethesda eventually asked people to send their save files. That these issues were big enough like a 6MB save file and framerate issues that would eventually halt any further gameplay session. EDIT: I don't doubt Bethesda had a solution, but you can have temporary solutions as well. Whatever can seem decent at first so you can get it out the door and eventually patch it.
  15. Sometimes Steam Workshop can be the buggiest piece of crap when you really want to play Skyrim.

  16. What do you guys think about Bethesda stating they were aware of the issues on PS3 before launch? http://ps3.ign.com/a.../1218881p1.html I have problems with this, and I'm not going to take the "shoulda got it on PC" route like others have taken to the issue. What it comes down to is that Bethesda assumed they could fix the bugs early on with a patch, and assumed only a small percentage would experience problems. They also assumed that missing the release date would anger more consumers than releasing a game riddled with problems. Honestly, I'm agreeing with the people who think they simply wanted it to be available for the Christmas season. This also reminds me of TotalHalibut's WTF on Gotham City Impostors. That game is riddled with matchmaking errors, and etc. The issues were present in the beta, but they still persist. He loves the game, but he couldn't recommend it because it was handled so poorly. A patch that's suppose to fix the problems isn't going to come out until March. That's for a $15 game btw. Skyrim is $60, and given that it's a frickin' Elder Scrolls game, it really could have come out at any time and there would have been a large amount of profit. The hype that surrounds the game is that good.
  17. As far as Naruto goes for this week, I can't really spoil anything because nothing much happened. Basically there's something that Orochimaru had that could change the war and Sasuke has gone from being a brooding ass to a full-on psychopath.
  18. My opinion on prayer in school? There's a quote that goes, "As long as there are tests, there will be prayer in schools." All kidding aside, there are instances where atheists have it their way. Of course, this is to say some atheists have it their way while the rest couldn't really care either way. For a long while, there has been the issue of 12-foot tall crosses honoring the deaths of state troopers killed in the line of duty placed along a highway here in Utah. It was brought to court by three members of American Atheists Inc. stating that the crosses were promoting Christianity on public land. This has been going on for a couple of years, but in January it was decided that the crosses be removed and moved to private property. Now, though I'm religious, when I first heard of this story I wasn't entirely sure. At that point I still have the same opinion today: Let them remain. Quite frankly, while a cross can be religious, it also serves the secular purpose of marking a burial or remembrance of death. If you want to dig further, a cross was originally a torture device. Having a cross with a name on it doesn't exactly scream, "Have you embraced Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?" Of course, what do I know? I'm religious and I was only ever agnostic for a year in my life, back when I was exploring who I was and what I alone believed in. I believe that was also the year when during Christmas there was a rather large "freedom of speech/religion" cockfight in Washington's capital building about having Christmas Trees and a Menorah in a government building. Local atheists put up a sign declaring there were no gods and etc, each side fought tooth and nail until nothing could be displayed in the capital building.
  19. Ignoring whatever has been going on in this thread for "I dunno how long," for a while I've been coming to a revelation whenever I'm on Facebook viewing whatever my friends post on their Wall. Politicians are mythical creatures. At least that's how it feels when you're reading "facts." Lately there's been that story about a college professor making a point about Obama's "socialism," but there has been two variations and, just by the merit of the conclusion, is actually fabricated. This isn't to bemoan, "Stop attacking Obama!" There have always been stories involving politicians and intellectual figures to set some point/theory in concrete on the basis of those individuals. Where does the truth stop and the fairy tales begin? In the upcoming months there is going to be mud thrown from either side. It's political war and no fraction of your life is safe if it means votes for your opponent. So we get origin stories, shady pasts, supposed crimes against humanity, the "truth" as it were. With how my Friends on Facebook are balanced on a political scale, I see quite a bit of stories. I fully suspect, in a month, to see a story about Obama having saved a burning orphanage, or a story about Romney secretly funding the Illuminati.
  20. IGN had more to say, though I'm wondering what's actually true... http://ps3.ign.com/articles/121/1218741p1.html Supposedly, it's 100% confirmed that the blonde is Sherry Birkin as the president Leon shoots isn't Ashely's father, the president during RE4. Feels strange though that it has taken over a decade for a character like Sherry Birkin, after all the different installments, to become relevant to the Resident Evil universe again.
  21. I voted Revolutionary America. I'm one of those guys who's saying this because of the concept art seen of an American Revolution Assassin and, if the setting is going to be in North America, the vault/temple/whatever of the North American continent looks to be situated around the original 13 colonies. EDIT: Of course, this isn't to say that perhaps we'll get to play more of Desmond. It might be like a more interactive Brotherhood where you're going into the past to find a location. I feel like the only reason why Desmond doesn't get more time is that Desmond doesn't have the resources like his ancestors. If anything, Desmond has been going on "National Treasure" plot points.
  22. As someone who had a Mad Catz GCN controller, that's about right. After playing Viewtiful Joe 2, the B button turned to mush.
  23. Feb 14th: Either I start dating this girl I've had my eye on, or I go to a singles' party. Win-win, I guess.

Well since you're in class together, I'd personally just go with my original statement. She's going to know who you are and how you know her, so it's not like you'll need to do some clumsy "I'm a friend of this person we both know." introduction, you can just go straight in and ask her if she wants to do something normal after class or at the weekend.

      「Advent Chaos」

@Fuchi: I'm feeling all G.I. Joe with advice now! I don't see myself changing my mind in the long run, but I'm pretty stupid so maybe you're right. @Thursday: Yeah I don't want to do anything silly, I guess that sounds good, but my real obstacle is finding the right timing AND courage.

      TheMightyEthan

So wait, I'm confused, you're nervous about approaching this girl, but you don't want to sleep with her?

      I don't understand...

  24. Nope, I don't have a proper gaming PC yet. Using my laptop and Skyrim can only run fine on Low in Windowed. I got it for PC because 1) Didn't want to risk the problems present on the PS3 version, and 2) Bethesda tends to favor the PC version of their games. So yeah, I love my mods I've got for Skyrim. As for Mass Effect, I would just buy Mass Effect 2 for PS3 since that's all their is on the PS3.
  25. Double Post, but for good reason! It's kinda a spoiler too, but it's about the Space Core! Hint: It does something cool!
