  1. Did you take that yourself? Otherwise I'm skeptical of it's authenticity.
  2. Doesn't that DLC thing break the whole concept of it being okay to rely on others cause if they abandon the city someone else can claim it?
  3. So, I'm gonna ask this again, with a slight modification: If a publisher releases a game that I won't buy because of always-on DRM, couldn't play it even if I did, but at least I can't pirate it either, has the publisher won?

And yeah, the topic was biased but I intended it to be.

@Eleven: Basically, that's the case. Both parties lose. I might have purchased SimCity V if it weren't for the whole DRM deal. Won't now. We both lose.

^That. I really wish it wasn't like that, because I was really excited for this game, and enjoyed the beta, but I just can't pay for always-online.

  4. I like SimCity 2000 better than 3000, never played much of 4.
  5. Conveniently due to my court's schedule I almost never have court on Tuesdays.
  6. And now Polygon has changed the review score to a 4/10. Arguably their handling of this has been even worse than EA's.
  7. To be fair, PETA really does need to learn to pick their fucking battles. They'd have a lot more credibility with the general populous if they didn't whine about such inane bullshit.
  8. Obviously I can't swear that's real. *Edit* - I especially love the part where the person says "that's correct, this is where you request a refund, it's not a lie, we just don't give refunds." *Edit 2* - Though as some of you may recall from my experience last year with the supposedly discounted Kingdoms of Amalur, EA marketing/PR apparently enjoys lying through their teeth.
  9. Maybe this will become enough of a nightmare that they'll patch the requirement out? If they do (which I know is EXTREMELY unlikely) I'll buy the game in a heartbeat.
  10. Hey, I'd have to drive like, at least an hour west to get to the middle of nowhere. Maybe two.
  11. idk, but they say they've also removed leaderboards and region locking on servers to try to reduce the load. How much load do leaderboards really add though? It is cool that they're making it not region-locked, and that also suggests that whatever's running on the servers isn't too latency-sensitive. *Edit* - The exact words they used were "region filters", which I assumed meant region locking of servers, but just realized it might instead have something to do with in-game regions.
  12. I can't help but read his name as "Narcissus" every time it's mentioned.
  13. Yeah, according to T-Mobile's own coverage map, I'd have to drive 45 miles to get anything better than 2G. Same for AT&T. On US Cellular I could get 3G here, and Verizon's got 4G coverage (though I'm right on the edge of it). They're not compatible though.
  14. North Korea is like a little kid throwing a fit just for attention.
  15. EA's adding more servers over the next couple of days. Their promise that the servers would be stable for the European launch apparently proved less than accurate.
  16. EA now says the microtransactions statement was only meant to be about mobile games, not all games.
  17. But is that really lax security on their end or is it just that they're an especially tempting target so it happens to them a lot?
  18. @FDS: Is that a Nexus 4? I'd really really like one, but it's only compatible with T-Mobile and AT&T in the US as far as I can tell, and neither of them have anything approaching good coverage in my area.
  19. I, for one, have certainly never taken off work to play a game at launch. <.< >.>
  20. Yeah, cause no one here's a big enough nerd to do that.
  21. All the youtube links on this page are blank for me. Are other people having this problem or is it my browser? Actually going to youtube I can view videos fine.
  22. An interesting (though brief) article on Joystiq about reviewing games that are both products and services simultaneously. I like the restaurant analogy, and think it makes sense that you would consider how good the service is when reviewing the game. What good is a fantastic game if you can't reliably access it?
