I still can't get over how fucking stupid the name "Charms" is for that menu.
-
God I wish that would be announced. Fingers crossed.
-
So what? It's a joke/popular code name. Once they announce the real name I'll start calling it that.
-
Okay, that's what I was looking for. I just wasn't sure if you were just assuming it was 720 screens or if there was info/rumors to that effect? Also, what's wrong with calling it the 720? It's shorter than Xbox 3.
-
That just says it's releasing after the 720. I was asking if you had a reason for thinking those renders aren't on PS4 or PC.
-
Is there a reason for thinking it's the Xbox 3 specifically and not PS4?
-
Which part?

http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/05/report-dead-space-4-canceled-after-poor-dead-space-3-sales/ Supposedly Dead Space 4 has been canceled in pre-production because DS3 didn't make its sales target. Cue debate about whether it was because it moved away from its horror roots. *Edit* - A commenter on the RPS article suggested that the fact that it's not on Steam could have contributed at least to lower PC sales.
-
Is that from something?
-
Alright, I've just been waiting for this, now I can launch on my epic quest to bring all my Shepards through the final installment.
-
Is 600k considered selling so well? That seems mediocre at best, though the development costs were likely lower than its console brethren.
-
Exactly.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/03/04/assassins-creed-iv-black-flag-revealed-to-us-last-week/ The ocean is supposed to be open-world-style, rather than the single missions of AC3. In fact the impression is that the game as a whole is supposed to be open world, but we'll see. One thing though is that obviously with the ocean being part of the open world it will be able to be much larger than if it was primarily land, since the ocean is uniform and 1) doesn't require design effort to make bigger, and 2) won't require nearly as much in terms of computing resources to make bigger.

I've decided there's a third option I'm desperately hoping for: C.) It does well enough for them to know there's interest, but the sales are obviously hurt by the online requirement so they abandon it next time around.
-
I doubt they'll lower prices again anytime soon. As I understand it the 3DS is selling fine now, and you know Nintendo hates taking a loss on hardware. *Edit* - That is, unless manufacturing costs have come down below the current price, then they might drop it some more.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Wouldn't it be shorter than MGS4's cutscenes if it were only 5 hours? -
Totally missed opportunity to arrange his guns in the shape of the Assassin symbol:

Yeah, I don't think it's saying that while you're using everything it's only the equivalent of 4 lightbulbs, it's that the total energy usage is the same as 4 lightbulbs running 24/7 for the whole year. Though they're clearly talking about incandescents, not CFLs, because that works out to average usage of 385 W, but for me 4 lightbulbs would be like 60 W.
-
I wouldn't because I'm sure it will be at least a year before I get a PS4.

DRM, Online Pass, Project Ten Dollar and the like

I know this devolved into a conversation about the obtrusiveness, but what I'm actually more worried about is it negatively affecting game design. Making games grindier to encourage you to just buy materials/equipment/whatever instead, or putting difficulty spikes right after a cash store location. Stuff like that will affect everyone playing the game whether they are bothered by the prompts or not. -

Well, totally ruining the experience is probably an overstatement. "Somewhat irritating" is probably more accurate, but it's a trend I definitely don't want to see continued/expanded upon. -
I just hope this isn't something they've slapped together in a rush to capitalize on the popularity of the sailing missions in 3. I'm hoping it's actually been in development for some time and they just were smart enough to foresee that those missions would be popular.

Textures being crappier than PS3 is to be expected on a Vita game, but it dynamically changing resolution is weird, I've never heard of that before. Kind of an interesting idea. You mean the actual display resolution and not the texture resolution, right?

I had one expensive vodka, I wanna say Grey Goose but I'm not sure on that, that was way more expensive than Absolut but also way harsher to drink.

Can't comment on BF, but I'll agree that the DLC/mtx in ME3 didn't bother me at all the way they were handled. As long as it's only occurring in menus and stuff that are already out-of-world then fine (again, as long as it doesn't turn into p2w, but last I played ME3 hadn't so it was fine).
