  1. Yeah, without that "wow" factor I don't see all those "non-traditional gamers" who bought a Wii upgrading to a Wii U. I see them going "well I already have a Wii".
  2. I forget, was it the same as that CG trailer? Cause that trailer was awesome.
  3. Kinda like how tv series often have a pilot that isn't ever broadcast as a real part of the show?
  4. Mine's a brick wall, but no special lever. It simply won't go into reverse if the car is moving forward at all (not that I've really tried...) and it won't go into first if I'm going more than about 10 mph.
  5. Yep, and then I quit playing it and decided I'm done with the Dirt series.
  6. My friend had a car that required you to pull up on a slider farther down on the stick to get it into reverse.
  7. Early in the article they did explicitly say that at least one of the statements was confirmed by a separate source.
  8. Dirt 3 did that same kind of thing, and yes it was very off-putting. I fucking hated that it would show me only having 250/300 points or whatever in a tournament because I hadn't bought the DLC and so didn't have access to that last 50 points. *Edit* - It's compounded by the fact that Dirt 3 seemed to have far fewer tracks/races than Dirt 2 did.
  9. Yeah, I didn't mean you were being a snob, just that some people are. My stick's layout is like this: Which is actually the only layout I've ever seen now that I think about it (not all cars have 5 forward gears, but R is always down and to the right).
  10. Good, that means that PS4/X720 games won't be gimped by speccing them for the Wii U like they might have been if it were say 80% as powerful as them. With it being comparable to current consoles then it will just be like the Wii was with the PS360 this cycle.
  11. Yeah, the snobbery is silly. I drive a manual cause I find it to be more fun, but that's all it is to me.
  12. I guess, yeah. The weirdest part to me is that the signals apparently traveled at about the same speed as cars, rather than being instantaneous or nearly so.
  13. Eh, once you get used to it it's not so bad, though an automatic would obviously be less work.
  14. Weird that the "help wanted" signal is an agent that actually has to traverse the world, rather than being more like a broadcast.
  15. http://penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/transgaming Talking about the future of gaming, brings up the Dust 514/Eve connection.
  16. I love my manual transmission, but my next car is going to have to be an automatic because my wife hates driving a manual (though she can do it if she has to).
  17. http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/03/trophies-suggest-batman-arkham-city-getting-harley-quinn-dlc/ Yay! More Arkham City!
  18. This must be an English vs. English thing. Over here "free market" means "we get all the money." What does it mean there?
  19. Good article, though it's slightly wrong about passive 3D: It's correct that passive 3D tv's alternate each row of pixels so each eye gets 1920x540. It then says that with side-by-side 720p 3D you'll be getting only 640x360 per eye (half the horizontal res for the side-by-side, half the vertical because of the alternated rows in the TV), which is incorrect. It doesn't just cut the number of vertical pixels in half, because the TV doesn't suddenly change the number of pixels it has to display with. Instead it will sample the 640x720 image to the 1920x540 display resolution, so the horizontal resolution isn't 360, it's 720 sampled to 540.

    Apple

Yeah, patents aren't supposed to just be a general description of a solution to a problem, but rather a specific manner of solving it. The whole patent system is completely fucked as far as high tech devices go right now though.
  21. I'd say 1&2 are classic, 3 is terribad, and 4 is pretty bad as well.
  22. AvP. Sorry, those posts weren't there when I posted.
  23. I think the reason that the explanations seem contradictory is that different people do it for different reasons. Again, poor one BY YOUR STANDARDS. Your standards are not fact.
  24. I think the idea of kickstarter is cool, though it's unlikely I'll ever give to any project on it (would totally give to Castle Story without hesitation though), however somebody at some point is going to try to cash in, eventually a highly funded project won't come to fruition, and like Thursday I'm interested to see what the fallout of that will be. We may already have a high-profile cash-in now: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/02/leisure-suit-larry-in-the-land-of-the-kickstarters/
