  1. From what I saw on Joystiq the reason he didn't like WWII and feudal Japan is that they've been covered so thoroughly in games already, and Egypt would be too much like the settings they've already used.
  2. I'll probably get it eventually, but I'm not super sure I'll enjoy it since I don't tend to like things where "it's hard" is a selling point so I'll probably wait for good deal on it. Also, semi-related to that, is that games releasing later on PC automatically reduces the price I'm willing to pay for them. I absolutely will not pay more than what the console version is selling for, and for games coming out six months or more later the console version could have decreased in price dramatically.
  3. I definitely thought the fighting in City was better. Once I did all the challenges in City I still wanted more game so I went back to do the challenges in Asylum (I just ignored them back when I played that game cause normally I don't like that type of mode) and it just didn't feel like the flow was as good as it was in City. Even after I readjusted to the different controls.
  4. System service exception is pretty general, but it CAN be a ram problem. What I would do is take out the 3 sticks that aren't blocked by the CPU and run memtest again. If it comes up clean then add one back and run it again. Just keep swapping out the second stick and running memtest until you find the problem stick. Hopefully it won't be the one that's blocked and you won't have to remove that at all.
  5. I would like to see them make a Catwoman game actually, I think they could do a good job of it. I really liked that she actually played differently than Batman, wasn't just a reskin with some missing abilities or something. You're totally right about the camera, but as for the encounters I can see where you're coming from but I don't personally find it bothersome. The fights are so smooth and satisfying that I don't mind them going on forever.
  6. They didn't say they failed at that part, just that it was stupid and they hated it and stopped playing. I remember that part from my playthrough too, and while I didn't think it was hard I did think it was irritating. @Strangelove: Yeah, that's kinda how I felt. I enjoyed playing it a lot, even though I was let down by the lack of side stuff available.
  7. One advantage of watching movies in a language you don't understand (with subtitles, of course) is that it makes it much more difficult to notice bad acting.
  8. Quick googling makes it appear that there's no way to change it. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/960564-xenoblade-chronicles/62466427
  9. Whenever I try that it seems that they remain still until the very instant I line up my crosshairs on their head, at which point they start moving again. It's like they're psychic (which they very well might be).
  10. In my experience Page Fault in Non Paged Area is a RAM issue. I've never actually had memtest turn up a problem for me before, even when I know my RAM is bad (ie getting BSODs with a specific stick in, but not with any other sticks). Best bet to trouble shoot it is to switch out your RAM sticks and see if the problem persists on all of them or just one.
  11. I leave voice off unless I'm playing with people I know.
  12. @Dean: I didn't say how long they'd hang around, just that they'd arise during the cycle. And I used 50 million years instead of 1.5 billion because the Reapers don't glass the planet, they just harvest the civilization. It would probably take chimps a lot less than 50 million years to replace us. Even if we divide that number by 100 to account for all the ways that a civilization could get fucked up before reaching that point, it's still 3000 with my numbers, 60 with yours. The point wasn't the specific number anyway, it was just that more civilizations would continue to arise even with the Reapers doing their thing.
  13. Yeah, I'm not opposed to the idea of it either, my only problem with it is how wide a net they cast. *Edit* - In terms of the offenses included, that is.
  14. The problem with trying to refine the system is that any attempt to remove any crimes from the registries or soften any of the penalties is met with cries of "he's trying to protect pedophiles!"
  15. Anyway, this is my last comment on the topic (or at least last essay) because really we're just arguing about WHY the ending is stupid, which is kind of a stupid thing to argue about imo.
  16. At least in Kansas if you go look at the registry it tells you specifically what they were convicted of. I don't know about other states.
  17. Yeah, a lot of the crimes that make people register as sex offenders for the rest of their lives are downright retarded and I'd argue it undermines the effectiveness of the whole system to lump indecent exposure and public urination in with rape and child sexual abuse. That aside, I think the idea is to keep them from being able to use these networks to prey upon kids, same reason they're not allowed near parks and schools. Seems to make sense until you consider what a ridiculously wide range of crimes are encompassed.
  18. @Dean: @Jack: Yeah, it's a shitty explanation, that throws canon out the window, I'm just arguing that that meme completely misunderstands it.
  19. @Sporkwaffles: Yeah, the whole final act was one of the most powerful experiences, if not the most powerful, I've had in a game.
