  1. Amazon is having a Digital Games Mayhem sale. PC downloads ranging all the way to 90% off, though I notice many of the games on sale are mediocre at best. Still, some definite classics and current hits on sale here. I think I'll end up with Lego Marvel Superheroes on PC for $8.00, though I had always planned on getting it on my eventual PS4. EDIT: Here's a link: LINK!
  2. Maybe some of you have heard Hyrule Warriors will be playable as E3. Maybe some of you have even seen some screenshots of the game and characters. Just saying, this'll probably be the most boob the Zelda franchise will ever feature. EDIT: If you want other screens, here.
  3. It's not very often my father is interested in a video game. Wolfenstein: The New Order has caught his eye since he use to play Wolfenstein 3D at one point with Army buddies. Here's hoping New Order is at least playable (that 8GB Day One patch, man).

  4. I probably don't have more than 250GB on my drive right now as I don't have a lot of media stored on it. If I had to loosen up a bit of space for the cloning process, I know a few games that I could remove temporarily. Though, a quick question. I plan on using both the SSD (whatever size) and 1TB HDD together. The HDD would be for documents and media, and Windows would be on the SSD. So, with anyone else with a similar setup, what else do you put on the SSD? I've heard it's a good idea to install programs to the SSD and use the HDD for games and files.
  5. I also have watched Godzilla and would put it in this category thread. A higher position in OK, but all my points are Mister Jack's points as well. Godzilla is definitely more of a plot device than his own character until the final moments of the final fight. I can pinpoint exactly where the human story got old because in my viewing so many people had a sigh of disappoint at this moment.
  6. For the last few days I've been considering upgrading to a SSD in my current desktop. However, I wanted to run this by you guys as I'm sure someone will know more about the process I'm thinking of. I'll probably get a Samsung 840 Evo SSD (either 120GB or 250GB), but I would want it as the Windows system drive, but my 1TB HDD is already acting as the lone drive in my desktop. So I've found a few methods of swapping between two drives, but overall most of them include cloning the HDD to the new SSD. Kingston has an upgrade kit with their own SSD and cloning software, but I've always been aiming for a Samsung SSD. So Corsair has their own cloning software that I could get separately. Seems like a lot of people have done this kind of process, but I've noticed a few (online) say cloning isn't good for the drive. They were in favor of reinstalling the OS type of methods when upgrading to a SSD. What are your guys thoughts? Heck, should I just stick with my lone 1TB HDD until I find myself building a whole new desktop?
  7. As I remember it, the first Kinect did sell well its first year. It was an upset for all the gamers that wanted the thing to trip over itself as it entered the market. I remember there being a Penny Arcade comic about the surprised success. But yeah, on the second year the device was irrelevant for many consumers who got a kick out of it with a few games and not much else.
  8. Another episode, another wonderful night. Last night I finished Episode 3 in one sitting and I gotta say I'm concerned about the performance on PS3. Not to mention I don't think my character results from 400 Days transferred as I remember not being able to convince the two sisters to join "the group," but they were in this episode. I wasn't willing to play all of Walking Dead again on PC before Season 2, and with the Season Pass, I have the last two episodes as well. I'm sure they'll get by, but if there's a third season, I don't know how the transferring of choices will work for PS3 to PS4. So, speaking of choices... This was kinda a different episode. It gave off a different vibe I mean, probably because it gave us a different perspective on joining groups. Clem met up with a new group, but they in turn got forced into their old group thus making Clem a kind of "newcomer" character for our story. It's a bit too obvious that Clem is the go-to chore taker as a lot rides on your shoulders in this episode. There's even a point where you can bring it up, but we all know Clem is the only capable Jack-of-All-Trades. Onto spoilers:
  9. Just to chime in on the discussion of PS3-PS4 support, I can understand wanting to put more focus on the next generation, but the one thing I've always liked about Sony's approach to video games is continued support of prior generation consoles. Nintendo has always been terrible about their transitions from one generation to the next. The Nintendo 64 died out before the GameCube arrived, and the GameCube was barely relevant if not for Twilight Princess. That all being said, I think this would have been all moot if the PS4 had backwards compatibility. Grabbing the random niche title wouldn't feel so... "counter-intuitive."
  10. I've recently bought Persona 4 Golden. The Vita to me will be my relatively Japanese RPG and Other Type "guilty pleasure" handheld system. I don't mind that because that means I get to play the portable versions of said games rather than their console counterpart.
  11. Personally, with the announcement of a Kinect-less, interest has risen 11% in the Xbox One. Current Interest: 11%
  12. So I'm getting the vibe that the Grump community is at war with itself again over the quality of the Steam Train run of Dark Souls II. It's the typical foray of love-hate fans find themselves in, and also the other half that would lay down their lives in defense. I didn't pay much attention to it, even when Ross made a giant post on the subreddit in the Dark Souls II video link. I thought it was the typical "Heads up, we're going to suck at this game." After watching what we have so far, I'm more disappointed than angry. I swear Ross must really be drunk and Arin isn't exactly enjoying this run so far. Sure, the goofy points are funny, but I'm beginning to see that maybe this is going to be the constant until that promised "better" second recording session Ross made note of in the first video link. It is at this moment that I finally have come to the realization that Grump videos aren't going to be what they use to be. It isn't so much going to be a bunch of friends playing games, but more of a chore for them to get together and "create content" as it were.
  13. I feel you Jack, I feel you. "At least 1 year of experience," they say sometimes, but who's going to give you that year? For me, it's gotten to the point where I'm considering going back to college for another degree. I don't want to spend another year in retail where I'm underpaid and not appreciated for the work I put in.
  14. Mario Kart 8 has an item that can counteract the Blue Shell. Ladies and gentlemen, we're facing a revolution in karting.

  15. I didn't realize that this hadn't been posted anywhere. Nintendo definitely wants to get back into the E3 game. While Super Smash Bros. at Best Buy seems excellent, I'm doubtful my Best Buy will have it.
  16. There are times where I wish I could go deep into some woods and contemplate on life's problems. Instead I'm stuck in the same building most days putting up with everyone else's drama.

  17. I've been pondering if I should give Arkham Origins a final shot with Cold, Cold Heart. That challenge map pack I got months back gave me quite the fury. Then again, Dark Souls II is this Friday, and there's other DLC I haven't played yet.
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g10DqPbbUuw Hmm... There's a lot I like about this, butt I can't quite put my finger on it.
  19. First thing I did with my Vita is put half the pre-installed apps into a folder called "Junk."

Yeah and they just keep coming out with new ones. The Calendar app just came out a few weeks ago.

They really should let you delete that crap. Especially Welcome Park. Like, yeah okay, I get it. Touch screen. Go away now, please?

I wish I could find my Vita's charging cable...

  20. I don't have time to snap a picture of it all, but... I exchanged the broken Vita for a working one back at the one store that still carried a few. Looking back, I'm not too surprised the one I grabbed ended up broken. Two of the seals were broken, but considering the third was still intact, I didn't think much of it. These were locked in a case so I didn't really get the chance to sort through the other six boxes. I got home from work and my screen protectors arrived today as well. Short of it is, the new Vita works perfectly, but the two pack of screen protectors was wasted. One protector was defective, so I only had one chance of a good protector. Went on great and was perfectly squared, but then I turned it on. A bit of lint found its way into the middle of the screen, and as much as I tried to ignore it, my dormant OCD came out like a beast and I peeled off the second protector. (I tried to remove the lint, but it was stuck on good to the protector.) It's just such a beautiful-ass screen not to notice some "forever lint." You just want to wipe it away, but it'll always stay! Besides, without a protector it makes cleaning the shiny handheld easier without a film in the way. The pack was $4.99, so nothing really lost (perhaps a potential Subway sandwich). I still had to get a memory card, right? The flaw to any Vita, but with the help of a friend, I got a 8GB card (to start) for around $13 with tax. So in the end, even with sales tax for retail prices, I think I came away with a good deal and can enjoy Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars! Oh, but I did get a hard case for my Vita because, like the PSP, I can't imagine this thing taking a beating in the slightest.
  21. I did find a Vita, and I was going to post about it, but turning the thing on revealed that the screen had dead pixels and color distortion. Seriously...

Right, forgot about the unified charging cable. Is it only compatible with PS4 or is it the same mini-usb PS3 also uses? The smaller back touchpad would be good for me, I always end up with my fingers resting on it.

If I could transplant my OLED into a 2000, I'd probably do it!

Yeah it still works with PS3. Plus it has extra battery life.

Ideally the Vita-3000 will be a combination of the two, plus with more built in storage.

PSV-2000 uses microUSB to charge, just like phones, tablets, and the DS4. The DS3 uses miniUSB, not microUSB, so the cables aren't compatible.

  22. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire My old folks have had the movie for a while, but we finally got together for a "movie night." I thought the second book was still good, but I've never been interested in the movie because I know where it all goes in the end. I'm sure if I didn't, it would have been more interesting, but I was bored. It looked good, yet it felt more of the same, but not as exciting because Katniss is going through her PTSD stuff. It's made even more obvious that there's a revolution being built around her that she doesn't care in being a part of, even though she does all the exact things to insight one.
  23. Vita Update: Seriously, I don't know if there's a damn Vita in this city. One last place I can try, though it may have to be the Madden or Call of Duty bundle.

any reason you cant buy it online? did i miss it?

  24. I never thought I'd care about anyone's opinion on a movie anymore, but a pet peeve I've found is the rampant "Frozen is terrible" backlash from the success the film has achieved. I didn't mind when people would go on a rant about "it's not the best," because usually it revolves around fans over-quoting the film and singing one of two songs repeatedly. I feel ya on that, but when there's talk about how it didn't live up to the "feminist standard" and some parents have forbid their children from watching the film... I'm baffled. It makes me wonder if they even gave the movie a chance. I've seen and talked to people who thought they wouldn't like the film and came away at least thinking it's alright. Yet to hate it and complain it doesn't fulfill an agenda baffles me.
