  1. At least it isn't all terrible news. For the life of me I wish I could tell Iwata that the fitness fad on consoles is dying; I don't think you're going to see any promise there. But as I think about, I begin thinking of Iwata being a part of the problem now. I didn't agree with it at first, but there's not enough evidence here for a full recovery. He's taking a rather large pay cut though, so good on him there. So there are proper methods, especially the user account, but this all feels like the "Wii Vitality Sensor" all over. NFC is cool, maybe we could get some kind of card game that uses both physical and virtual cards for online competitive play. I doubt Skylanders: Pokemon is the best course of action. You could say they're looking down the right path, but the skeptics are starting to be proven when it was said Nintendo would do things their way. Looking forward to Quick Boot, if that ever comes around soon.
  2. Swiggity Swooty I'm coming for that booty
  3. I couldn't get the little rap outta my head the next day. But definitely watch the episode. I mean, like, we can only do this three or four more times!
  4. I don't expect some magical attraction to spring forth, but you reminded me of this Onion article. http://www.theonion.com/articles/report-everyone-youve-ever-had-a-crush-on-secretly,35080/
  5. Truthfully, I'm worried for this season of Archer. There just doesn't feel like there's any spark to it. I guess you could consider me fortunate that Rick and Morty comes on right after Archer, and while I gave Chozen a chance, the second episode was extremely mediocre. So I get a solid hour of my current favorite comedies. Thing is, Archer's current season is only... alright. Second episode was great, but the last one didn't do much for me. No doubt it had its moments, but we dicked around the mansion again, and it looks like we will again next episode dicking with Pam's coke problem. Speaking of, her coke addiction is getting old.
  6. Relationships, dating, and all you married types. Here, let us speak of our experiences, troubles, highlights, maybe some advice (though don't ask me). For example: Ladies and gentlemen, I fear it's all beyond me. I've had the unfortunate luck of recently picking the girls who never bother to tell you outright they rather not go out. They rather you infer it from their coded messages and subtle "maybe next week" texts. You know, I get you don't want to hurt anyone, but it's worse to keep someone anticipating the possibility. I'm a Yes or No kinda guy. If you want to be friends, just say so right off. I'm venting this all right now because this is likely happening now. It has happened to me dozens of time, but there's always the chance that we're all at bad timing, but without going into details, it feels like that's not fully the case. Sure we're both full-time workers, but you're whole life isn't dedicate to a job. What probably bugs me is that we're social network connected, on her part, but there are updates about "woes of being single."
  7. Doesn't mean it'll be their sole focus. If they're truly looking into "foreign trends" and the in's and out's of the phone/tablet market, it might be to gain perspective on why kids flock to those devices in this generation. Though honestly in my experience kids get stuck with cheap (and I mean BAD cheap) Android tablets because parents or grandparents want a multipurpose device to entertain the child. On the other hand, I've seen the kids who get an iPhone as a hand-me-down from the parents who have upgraded to the newer version. So yeah, I'm doubtful making a bigger push to children is going to solve much. Doesn't hurt to increase the advertising, but I swear I've seen more child focused 3DS and Wii U advertising than adult. Maybe I'm not watching the right channels, but whatever: I have a Wii U. EDIT: Oops-a-word ("help" to "hurt")
  8. Gonna be an uncle soon. Sister picked Genevieve for her baby, but I'm giving her the nickname Evy (or Eevee).

I love the name Eevee (however you spell it).

Personally I want to minimize the chances my children get bullied as children are mean, so I'd give him/her a normal name.

Hooray, I have a niece from my sister and my brother and his wife are about to have their first child, a baby boy, whom I hope they name Ulysses. But they'll probably name it something normal, like Mark or Stephen.

  9. The only downside to the 2000 is the LCD screen, but if it's a good price, I think it'll be a popular option. While it's not a lot, the 1GB would help out for anyone who wants the device and a physical game first without the need of paying for a high capacity memory card (right away). Well, so long as the game you pick doesn't have a large patch file.
  10. I went ahead with Katamari Damacy. The best you'll probably get out of PS4 is it being on Gaikai at one point, unless PS2 Classics becomes a thing where renting it from Gaikai could translate into a sale.
  11. Super spontaneous impulse buy. I want my PSP library to be more than a few games. Not to mention maybe later tonight I might look into the original Katamari Damacy ever since Game Grumps have been playing it.
  12. Yeah, the Undead Parish bell. Almost didn't because I didn't see the staircase right away. Knew the sorcerer guy had to be reachable. Gargoyles weren't that tough, but then again I probably had leveled up enough and found good gear.
  13. Eh, I might look at it a little if it gets positive press.
  14. And I love my fist in your face! Anyway, I don't see Nintendo in the "fucked" status yet. They can get there if they stay on the same path, but there have been many indications that Iwata is aware they need to change. The Wall Street Journal has a good comprehensive article from when Nintendo announced the Wii U loses. http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303465004579325760899958956 "The way people use their time, their lifestyles [and] who they are have changed," Mr. Iwata said. "If we stay in one place, we will become outdated." Mr. Iwata also said Nintendo was considering a "new business structure," but declined to elaborate. The company plans to hold a strategy briefing on Jan. 30. "New Business Structure" sounds more than just strategy, to the extent higher-ups could be finding themselves out of a job. Later this month maybe we'll hear what's what, don't know. Obvious skepticism isn't unwarranted: Some industry experts are skeptical that Nintendo will change, pointing out that the company has a history of going its own way, and not listening to outside advice. "I hate to say this, but Nintendo is out of touch," said Yoshihisa Toyosaki, president of Tokyo-based information-technology consulting firm Architect Grand Design Inc. "It has a chance to change course, but I doubt it's going to take it." There are still some third parties going along with Nintendo, notably Platinum Games who had Wonderful 101, which was well-received, and still has Bayonetta 2 to dish out. Of course, the majority of third parties have the PS4 and Xbone as platforms too, even the PS3 and 360 if desired. The Wii U does have a decent library; it's a library with strong multi-platform titles. The best exclusives are primarily coming from Nintnedo, so yeah. Don't know if anyone wants to go over "Nintendo Fusion," the ultra-high tech console-handheld hybrid rumor. I'm sure Nintendo is already considering what their new console will be, but highly doubtful anything is even ready to have been leaked.
  15. Just pick a place that seems intriguing and go there. If it's too dangerous, go somewhere else. No need for a guide for that, really. The game is pretty good at subtly guiding you like that. If enemies one-shot you, that's a pretty good indicator you probably shouldn't be there. The only times I feel a guide is called for is for certain really useful items that you might otherwise miss. Well, what I didn't notice was the path to the right of the sealed gate in Darkroot Garden. That's why I was getting lost because Basin was obviously tougher with the the Golems. Was thinking of going back to the Asylum, but I'm suspecting that the tougher enemies will be MUCH tougher. Without a guide, I wouldn't have found the Bonfire in Darkroot and would have to start from the very beginning with the Bonfire by the blacksmith.
  16. I decided to get back into Dark Souls tonight, and I've done good for myself (with some luck). Only problem I'm running into is that I'm getting lost. Not sure which direction to take. I'll probably find a good walkthrough to guide me to places. I've gotten to the part of Undead Parish where I can get to Darkroot and even found my way back to the beginning area with the three NPCs.
  17. Going off my personal experience, having to sell Windows 8 desktops and laptops, it either bugs out my customers or puts them off entirely. I always make it a habit of showing them the Desktop, and in some cases showing them a display model with Pokki if they truly wanted the ol' Windows 7 feel. It helps when you have a touchscreen as the Tiles feel more natural for the device, but still from time to time I get customers who can't adapt and return the recently purchased device. Happened today for me in fact, though they were more so frustrated than confused. At the same time there are definitely people who can adapt to the change, though I'll hear from them they've stopped using the apps.
  18. Jumping back into Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition. How many people here have beaten the game? I'm pondering whether I want to continue on with the game or focus on other games in my backlog. I definitely make progress, but it's the slow and frustrating kind. I've played for about three hours and I'm only at the part around that metal boar. What probably doesn't help is that I'm not familiar with what all the different numbers and icons represent. Otherwise I've been occasionally jump onto Super Mario 3D World. Definitely fun, but I wish I had some multiplayer buddies. Same goes for Rust, which yes I bought into an alpha, but it's very interesting and satisfying for a game not fully built. I've put it on hold until the zombies are gone. They will chase you none stop until you kill them, but then an actual player might take the chance to kill you afterwards.
  19. You know you're old when you're too tired, on your day off no less, to play anything.

    1. TheMightyEthan

      TheMightyEthan

That's one thing that's never happened to me. There have been times that I didn't feel like playing anything, but I don't think it's ever been because I was tired.

Eh, I mean I'm sure there's something I could play, but I would probably suck at it since I'm half-asleep.

  20. I'm not even going to jump in on the mobile talk. Personally I think it's unconventional, and while there's hundreds of thousands of mobile devices, it doesn't translate to a large audience for Nintendo games. Anyone with a 3DS is getting a Nintendo game, but anyone with a smartphone doesn't have to, especially in a market littered with free or dirt cheap games. I don't want to see Nintendo go the way of Sega. I've probably said this before, but you're basically asking for trouble rather than any salvation of a company you grew to love. Has Sega really being doing good for themselves? Then again, Nintendo always did have more to offer in the long run, but the times have changed. Doom and gloom aside, because damn if we don't hear it all the time (maybe people get aroused by it), but it is true that Nintendo's chief problem is strategy. Something to consider is, well, rather than Nintendo being ignorant to the modern gaming conventions of other companies, they're actually ill-prepared to match said standards that have been established. It wasn't long ago when Eurogamer had an article when an unnamed party explained the difficulties they faced with developing their game on Wii U. The biggest problem was how none of the Nintendo representatives were familiar with the online infrastructure of PSN and Xbox Live. Literally knew nothing about them and asked to explain and so forth. The 3DS isn't in hot water, and anyone who wants to argue it's failing is out of their mind. Nintendo has to be aware of how fortunate they are in the handheld market. It's like they must depend on it, but truthfully the company has the cash cushion to recover from failures. If the Wii U does fall away, though there are great games, Nintendo still has another shot. However, they need to really consider to match Sony and Microsoft in more regards. You don't have to replicate every damn thing, because innovation is still important, but other companies and developers are capable of laying groundwork for video game technology. Sony was willing to copy you Nintendo, maybe take a look at their online services with proper account management. The eShop is literally on the verge of being in the same camp, but it still reeks of the Wii's Shop Channel. I know Sony and Microsoft are bigger companies with many other divisions, but you only have to worry about their video game aspect. If you noticed anything about the Xbone debacle it's that gamers still widely prefer their consoles to be gaming machines first, other functions optional. You're so close, but try to remember that the industry is constantly changing and what worked back at the turn of the millennium won't hold true a decade later.
  21. Right after the theme, so it was the first scene with Archer and the flowers, theme, then commercial break. All of the jazz of who's who, then commercial. The bargaining up to Malory's decision, then commercial, come back right for the end with the reveal and credits, which simultaneously run along side the bumper for Chozen.
  22. April 14th of this year is when official support for XP will end. I took some training in Microsoft's ExpertZone recently and I'm wondering who they would aim "Windows 9" at considering all the courses I took about "Windows 8 and Small Businesses" were implying it was the OS to consider when upgrading from XP. Obviously it didn't factor in that you can't have a simple upgrade to 8 from XP, but whatever. Small businesses will go with whatever they feel comfortable with, and Metro has never been easy on the eyes. I can handle Windows 8, but whenever I have to sell a computer, I always begin by showing the Desktop. I mean, as the article was saying, it's doubtful Microsoft is going to completely back away from the tiles.
  23. It was better than I thought it was going to be, mainly the main character not being a complete putz as I anticipated. No one is likeable, but I thought it definitely had funny moments. Not sure I'd like most of the songs in the show, but that "murder, murder, sex" song was catchy. Probably not the best song to catch yourself singing at work.
  24. The episode description mentioned but I'm sure he's not really classified as such. After the intro and cut to commercial, I was under the impression Malory was the one. Insane I know, but sometimes I wonder... EDIT: Speaking of commercials, I've been spoiled by the Blu-ray releases. I forgot how often and how long the commercial breaks on FX were. It was almost torture!
  25. For me, it would depend on if the Steam controller is capable of being useful/functional in a variety of genres.
