  1. I have Common Sense 2014 too, but in the past having an antivirus has helped. In the last fifteen years I've only had three viruses, but all those instances it was completely unexpected. Still, I've gotten by for a long time without the need of "antivirus," but I did like the tune-up stuff that was a part of Norton 360. Thing is you usually have to pay out the butt for the suites that have basic optimization options (at least from what I've seen).
  2. It's taking its time, but that Titanfall beta is downloading tonight!

  3. Been meaning to ask, though I keep forgetting because I don't use my desktop a whole bunch. Anti-virus: which one? I had Norton 360 on my laptop, but all the background performance crap would get in the way. I don't know if anything has changed, and it still gets recommendations. However, you've got a handful more options. One I've heard of is Bitdefender, but in stores I don't ever see it located with Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, and AVG. I'm open to suggestions, even if it's "don't get one."
  4. Isn't the beta going public anyway? Xbone tonight, PC tomorrow.
  5. Anyone get into the Titanfall beta? Supposedly codes will still be handed out, but the beta ends the 18th.

  6. Got Captain Phillips on Blu-ray. Literally one of those movies that puts you on the edge of your seat. The suspense gets high, even when you're aware of how things are going to turn out. By the ending I swear my heart was coming up my throat! At times I wanted the pirates to suffer, but there would be moments where I had sympathy for them (well, 3 of 4). Maybe they wouldn't have a perfect life, but if there wasn't a warlord tugging at the strings, things would be different. All in all I have this chilling feeling of what hell it would be to be in a hostage situation. That even when you're aware of a threat, even when you take precautions, but when the threat is human, so much can happen at a moment's notice.
  7. Signed up and to my surprise Mass Effect 3 on PS3 had given me an Origin account. Actually, it mostly did as I had to "recover password" to access it through the client.
  8. On my day off and while testing out my new Composite-to-HDMI adapter, I pulled out my GameCube and felt like a kid again. Now I'm seeing if I can find a nice S-Video cable online.

  9. Never cared for Braid either, though I can see the appeal it might have for others.
  10. http://www.smashbros.com/us/characters/little_mac.html Man, the Grumps picked a good time to play the Wii's Punch-Out!! Honestly, I should have played the game by now, especially with it being dirt cheap.
  11. So I've been given advice from some, well, I guess they're friends. They were telling me that I should have this one girl "chase me," but then I ask them how. I mean, really, she has more of a social life than I do and seems to have a lot of friends and family. How is a dork like myself going to have such a girl chase after me? Ultimately I've known I need to move on, but there's only so few places I go and so few girls I meet outside of work. Now there's going to be a new girl at work and I can't believe I have people pushing me into thinking about this mystery girl. I know nothing about this person other than name, and from what experience I do have, dating at work is a terrible idea.
  12. That's definitely very possible. Today I was reading some discussions on it and someone pointed out something.
  13. What Ethan said, because honestly... As for my example of two-faced behavior:
  14. The Wolf Among Us, Episode 2. So all those clips from "Next time on..." weren't really part of Episode 2. Honestly, that's great. It makes the whole episode completely fresh and things don't play out like you expected them to from that preview. The twists, and this is only Episode 2 mind you, are fantastic. The choices feel natural for what stance and attitude you'd like Bigby to have. Also, the game will call you out if you begin to act two-faced. P.S. Didn't expect them, but pretty good video game nipples.
  15. The LEGO Movie is getting a lot of positive feedback. Definitely want to see it, but more than likely it's a family movie and not a "date" movie. Well, unless you're close and have fun together.

  16. Anyone looking to get Bravely Default? I'm still not too into RPGs, but I have my exceptions. It looks great, but what's everyone's thoughts?

Sorry FMW, the reviews are too good to ignore. I'll be renting it though so if somebody isn't planning on getting it release week I can tell you whether it's worth getting later

Good first impression but shallow underneath? Like SimCity?

    4. FMW

      FMW

Very like SimCity. Looks good, sounds good, slick interface... but crappy characters, crappy plot, crappy levels, and a SUPER basic combat system

  17. I was looking into this again today. I've read that the Retron 5 was delayed to April this year. Next month there will be the Super Retro Trio from Retro-Bit that does NES, SNES, and Genesis games for $70. However, there's a GBA adapter that alone is $40, but bundled together is only an additional $20. Still, wait on reviews for these things. You can find some unboxing videos for the Super Retro Trio, but it'll all come down to performance. The Retron 5 has Famicom capability and HDMI output, but the latter could be a weak point if video and audio turn out to be crap. Truth be told, that's probably why the thing has been delayed, renamed, delayed, and now is aiming at an April release. The Super Retro Trio stuck with composite and S-Video, so you'd think there wouldn't be a problem there. Only issue would be to have access to composite on your television, or pay for an adapter to HDMI.
  18. Just a theory, but I suspect the people who are outraged have a fear that in 20 years they'll have to be fluent in multiple languages, lest they fall to the wayside at their favorite fast food establishment because the employee now only speaks Spanish. I remember as a child "America" was always considered a melting pot of different cultures and people. I guess somewhere along the way someone realized that said melting pot meant co-habitation and not conformity to a defined American standard where everyone speaks American-English. Personally, I'm jealous of anyone who speaks two languages. I would have loved to learn a second language as a kid, not as a teen for hours.
  19. So yep, I think Archer is picking up. Kreiger made the mansion actually interesting, and we had some fun character interaction. I think we're finally going to hit full steam on the potential of this season.
  20. I don't care much about sports, but I noticed I had a lot of Broncos friends and said friends were talking a lot of "smack." Right now, I feel it is my duty to laugh.

I didn't watch it but god damn, the Broncos got murdered. They seem to almost gotten shutout with no points. Shamefur dispray.

      Yeah, it was pretty terrible.

  21. Heard about Flappy Bird, installed, played for 20 minutes, bored to death, uninstalled. I don't get the hype; the frustration sure, but the repetitive nature is mind numbing!

My high score atm is 11. For a long time it was 8, then I had a good run.

It's much more popular among adolescents. Most of my students play it and got me to download it. I'm not good at it but it's something they have interest in.

Mine was 8 before I just couldn't care anymore. Not out of any frustration, just boredom.

  22. Just a reminder FLD, Dark Souls II on PC is delayed, so it won't be the March release which is for 360 and PS3.
  23. People are saying that Microsoft would forgo the Blu-ray drive due to how Sony is included in the licensing fees associated with Blu-ray. The exact amount Sony makes on each Xbox One isn't really clear because truthfully all of the companies in the Blu-ray Disc Association would be receiving an amount, from my understanding. An article I saw suggested it was something like $2, but I'm doubtful Microsoft would be that frugal. Either way, drop the Kinect 2.0 and Blu-ray to make a $300 Xbone and I'd jump on it.
  24. Maybe I'm use to things being more lively and having variety in the high jinks for Archer and the rest of the cast. The first episode didn't do too much other than hilariously set up the season. Of the three episodes I like the second the most, but after the third I'm suspecting that we're going to be revisiting a lot of previous characters. Not that it's a problem, but there's nothing new yet. I probably just don't like the mansion as a setting, and like I said before the cocaine addiction is getting old. Still, I'm sure it'll pick up like when Cheryl will go on to be a country singer.
  25. UK will be getting the new PS Vita Feb 7th, but Fergal Gara, Head of Sony Computer Entertainment UK, doesn't expect the Vita to be as big as the PSP. http://www.psu.com/a022347/Sony-doesnt-expect-PS-Vita-to-sell-as-well-as-PSP Strange if you ask me, but he does justify his perspective by stating how the handheld market has expanded versus the market circa Nintendo DS vs. Sony PSP. Don't know how many other higher-ups in Sony would consider the Vita more of a PS4 accessory.
